  • In this video, I try my hand at fabricating a DIY cargo rack for my Dual sport motorcycle. I want to be able to carry a tent and a sleeping bag so I can do an overnight trip while out on the trails. I'll use my tubing bender and MIG welder to build the rack before having it powder coated for durability and rust protection.

I basically already bought something that's equivalent to the impressive thing you built. However, I want to double or maybe triple the carrying capacity and add an additional 2 crates using a wooden rail scheme I've concocted due to the free materials available I've acquired. Basically I am just going to extend the mountable surface with some 2x4 rails that extend behind and possibly laterally to a much smaller degree as well. It's a little concerning that I never see anyone else loading up a bike but I haven't had any major issues just yet.

Nice result! Nice 4' x 4' welding table with 12"x12" usable, but it got better as the video went along.

Great work, I have a 2009 Husky, and there is nothing you can buy in the aftermarket like this.

Hey man, just a tip. When your making bends in small stock like that you can just skip the ratchet. Just shove a bar in the main follow bar and bend it by hand.

DIY if you’re a professional machinist/metal worker with a million dollar studio 🧐

LOL. I'm a beginner at metal working! I haven't been doing it very long. One of my first projects was my chop saw cart and that video is on my channel.

May i ask what bolts should I use for luggage racks? I’ve been seeing people having broken bolts for the rack mounting points and I’m concerned ahahaha
