    Looks great! Nice little project! I taught myself to weld about 8-10 years ago and got pretty decent spoolgun MIG welding aluminum and standard MIG welding steel. Never welded a ton of stainless but it went ok. Somehow I NEVER realized that you can stick weld stainless, that's killer!

    • @ivznh
      @ivznh  2 года назад

      Thanks! Yes, if you take your time and don't rush it you can weld thin stainless with a stick welder. Just choose the right settings.

    Good job, I don't have the tools to make it, I don't like to buy aluminium racks because they break and not strong like steel, but stainless steel racks are expensive, I need it for 700c road bike, my bicycle doesn't have the top eyelets.

    Oh man, exactly this I would need for my current bike trip. I am so upset because the front rack I bought is not fitting properly - I was seeing tons of mechanics and there is no creativity at all on how to adjust it. I would know how or at least have several ideas about it, but no tools :(. A pity you leave in Portugal ;). Best, Christina

    What electrodes are those? how is he not blowing holes in the tubes? Really nice job.

    • @ivznh
      @ivznh  2 года назад +6

      There are (at least) two reasons for not blowing holes: 1) all tubes are notched properly so no gaps exist and 2) small electrodes and proper amperage combined with spot welding.

    • @ivznh

      I do not sell racks per se. What I do and I've done is custom racks for specific forks. Fork mounts are a different in different forks so making one size that fits all is difficult.

  • @razc6738

    Hi, this awesome work. I was wondering if you could figure a front rack for an electric bike (G4 from GoCycle). The main idee would be to have stem mount and the rack that can attach, because of the folding feature. Thx

    • @ivznh
      @ivznh  2 года назад

      Thank you for the kind words. I made one rack for stem just for fabrication purposes (see my instagram page @ivznh). The main limitation of such rack is the leverage caused by the load. If the stem is not strong enough damage can occur.

    Hi Ivo, super project, what width of stainless electrode did you use? Also what's the advantage of the 10mm Ridgid bender vs a cheap 10mm one? Thanks!

    • @ivznh
      @ivznh  2 года назад

      Thanks. I have to re-check but I used 1.6 - 2 mm rods, the smaller the better in my opinion. Ridgid tube bender is the cheapest option where I live to bend Stainless Steel. SS is tricky to bend (and very hard) so the cheap ones will just break under load. I broke 2 and gave up wasting money.

    • @ivznh
      @ivznh  2 года назад +1

      This is just regular stick welding with a 1.6 mm (or 1/16") 304 stainless steel rod. Since the tubing is so thin I have to spot weld it to avoid holes.
