To your comment about 450s being too much for most average riders.....At my local shop the majority of used dirtbikes for sale are 450s. And it seems to be that way year after year as guys get into riding and realize getting a tall geared, high strung 450 for the woods was a bad idea.
@@kylelangworthy9641 Exactly. I may give up a little on the start, but halfway through the race I'm still going strong while everyone else is trying to hold on.
I made monster from 450 RX. I have 2018 model, I am first owner. Sprockets 13:52 , derestrict the bike, it was plate behind filter and I opened Air box, need to use cutting tool to cut off some windows so could breath, installed throttle tube on bearing to make it even more wild, Installed stiffer springs front and rear for my weight . Bike is a wheelie monster and I love it. Exhaust is stock, no mapping just standard 3 modes, no traction control. I was riding Supersports 1000cc modified but after so many years with 450 RX, nothing what I ridden humiliates me like this bike👍🏻
Depends where you're riding. Open areas i'll take my KX450 all day. In the tight stuff, the KX250X or my 300 2 smoke. Fighting a 450 MX bike through one of our rock gardens is a special kind of misery. Flame outs, overheating, constant clutch work, etc. There's nothing good about a 450 here in the northern woods, but on track or the sand pits they're great.
Hey Rado, at 7:29 there is a trail off on the right that is overgrown and i have not been on it for 15ish years, I walked the beginning a couple weeks ago when my kid and I were out there but it started pouring hard and we headed home. We should meet up soon and I will show it to you. It's super tight & twisty 1st gear stuff... it's pretty cool
450 is fine. You have to learn how to ride it. Same as a 250 might be difficult in a different way. Ride to the bike and your ability. But the more power gives you more options.
Lol I ride the same and do the same, usually 3rd gear pinned gets everything done. I bet the 450X would be a fun one that could slightly be lugged around.
I have a 2019 450x ride desert and single trail .the x is perfect plenty of power to get over everything and take enough to lug .came from a 16 450r set up for the desert definitely a night and day difference
The problem is it's too light. My nephew has one, and it is powerful. I'll agree, but for me, it's too light. Never did like bikes that were too light. I had an '87 XL 600 when I was 13, I'm also a big guy, and I don't like to overpower the bike myself. These CRF 450's like to pull the front wheel off the ground too much. When the front end is too light, that gives you the feeling of not being in control. That's just the nature of this bike. Give me an older XR650, and I'm right at home. Like others have said, you will get used to the power of this bike, but you have to learn it, and that takes more than "2 hours" of riding. I'm talking, being in the seat 3-4 hours a day. That is the only way you get good, and familiarize yourself with it.
Here in the southern woods 450 is too much bike. Majority owners are newer riders and they buy one against the advice of seasoned riders. They sell on Craigslist list the next season and get a 250 or 350. Most older guys including me ride light weight 2 💨 KTM XC W 250-300 👍🏼. Love mine
I have a lot of Desert rideing exp and some track time at 63 I love to rip hard all day,but your spot on the 450 anything is so powerful you have to use caution in many places when they hock up the really take off,be safe rip hard.
Not all courses are going to let u take advantage of everything a 450 has to offer. You may be more nimble on a smaller bike. Even some pros say modern 450s are just so much power
Hello dirt n iron brother I like this enduro DNA machine , please make more videos regarding this because honda does not launch crf in BHARAT( India) till 2024 😢 Watching from uttarakhand hills ( BHARAT🇮🇳)
Hi I am from Holland and we have realy soft sand and hard pack track's. I own both the 2014 and 2018 crf450r, and ride de 2014 on hard pack and the 2018 on sand. I realy don't need al the power of the 450. My reason to ride it is maintanence. I can not hurt the 450 and don't have to rev it out. My theory is I can ride much longer on al the replacement parts of the 450. But nobody seems to talk about this aspect? I was thinking about the 350 asswell, but it seems that maintanence wise it would be more like the 250's because it is a high revver. I am curiaus
Its difficult to switch bikes for a single ride.. If you are used to a smaller engine that needs to be revved harder, then you will unintentionally ride that way on the bigger bike and it will bite you in the ass.. if you were able to have 3 or 4 rides in a row that bike, your wrist would re-calibrate itself and you would feel much safer! Not saying you would prefer it or anything.. but you would be less worried about killing yourself lol.
you need a bracket from cycra or nihilo concept and you can use new style fender 2013-2022, they will work on 2004 but you night need to grind it a bit check the video ruclips.net/video/C8FCk53KsXw/видео.html nihiloconcepts.com/products/front-fender-kit-ktm-for-xc-models-09-12 www.polisport.com/en/off-road/performance-parts-and-accessories/performance-parts/ktm-excexc-f-front-fender-adaptor-kit-black-2008-13_p4011.html

yes, I see that happening too.. its tempting to get 450 first..
I bought a CRF250RX and put the red Moto Athena 300 kit in it. Perfect off-road power. The 450 would be a good desert racer, but not for woods.
I've got A RMZ250 with the 270 Athena. Kit,cam's n a full Pro circuit exhaust thing is amazing. I'm a 46 You're old. vet Perfect bike

cool, that is a good size for sure! did you see what redmoto does in EU?

I agree with you. I think some guys want the fastest bike, but that may not always be the best choice. I have a 23 KTM 350 XCF FE and I love it.

I agree with you. My CRF450R startles me at times. Definitely a bike i have to ride with respect. 250-350 is my sweet spot as well

You can never have too much horsepower!

450x usually a bit tamer from honda overall

I wish KTM would bring back the 200-XCW. For now I will keep riding my 350-EXC.
yes, that would be good. they are bringing back 150 this year tho
Man stop being spoiled just ride it and be happy I love my 450yz 🤙🏾
If I learn how to ride bikes I will fashooo I’ll get to work on time 🤣🤣🤣💯🧟♂️💤
I definitely like 450f better for the woods, or 250 2t. I Ring my 250fs out, even in the woods.
