Bro...where have you been the last 5 years as I've been building my home gym?! These ideas are GOLD. Love the simplicity, multi-use, and portable of a lot of your stuff! Seriously geeking out over here. 😆
Yeah, I started this channel about a year ago but I wish I had started 5 years ago. This stuff is awesome and there’s so much support from the community!
Thank you so much for this video! I originally bought the rogue monster utility seat but it was too big for my rep rack, and there were no other brands that would fit. Rep has a version but at the time of this posting it has not been released for purchase. I built this using your video for reference and it works perfectly! I use it for more than just seal rows. If you have the lever arms you can use it as a platform for leg presses and it makes a good adjustable seat for leg extensions. Again thanks so much for this! Love your videos.
That is awesome. I love multi-functionality! Thanks so much for the support and taking the time to write about your experience with the bench. I still use mine all the time as well.
Sh!t that's a great idea. I'm definitely building one as soon as my squat rack arrives. Glad I stumbled upon your channel. Keep the home gym stuff coming
Cool, I'm glad you like it. I've got a huge to-do list for future builds and the suggestions keep pouring in. I'll keep making videos as long as people want to watch them.
Very good work explanation is spot on & easy to follow instructions, definitely a money saver, i will definitely be making one of these bench pads, a big thank you
Another great video! This is definitely a great option if you don't have the space or budget for a proper seal row bench. Good chance I do this in the future!
This is a great build that's pretty easy to actually DIY. Many of these builds are fun to watch, but not something I'd do. I'm starting this one this weekend.
Something like this is a must build. But having seen the Buff Dudes DIY Bench video, I think it could be improved by building a powerlifting spec flat bench using this as a detachable top for the rows and the other exercises demoed. That saves having to have the board an incline and flat bench all in a really small space.
Great idea. I have the same rack...if you build the bench to sit inside the rack on the pin pipes then you can use the 'J' hooks to rest a barbell on so that you don't have to lift the bar from the floor and limit your range.
This was my favorite video of yours so far because a seal row is the only thing I have put together myself so far. I had an extra bench pad from getrxd and found that it could be bolted right on to two unistrut channels and laid across safety arms the same way. It is held in place by my weight but could technically slide so I'm Looking at your video and trying to think if there's a way to make it more secure using some wood
For those of us who don't have the place , resources or skill to do nearly as nice a job as you demonstrate; Can we pay to have a custom build for the average guy who desperately needs this for his home garage gym?... It's killer movement to work the back safely when you are up in 70+ maturity range ... Could easily supply the name of manufacturer of rack; a picture and appropriate dimensions... Just need the board with pad covering... If you could advise a reasonable price (including your labor profit) that would be around $300 - $400 there would be enough buyers to hire a staff to do just this full time (well almost possibly)... Lets us serious buyers know your feelings along this proposal... Your build videos are excellent - no one even comes close to the quality & attention to detail... Stay safe, Chuck
Hi Charles, I appreciate the kind words. I really enjoy building these DIY projects and making the tutorials. It brings even more joy to read such encouraging comments. I have received many requests over the last couple years to manufacture and ship these items. As much as I would love to get these pieces out into the world, I just don't have the time or resources to devote to manufacturing and shipping. My schedule is jam packed, full of juggling family, work, researching and building new DIY projects, and filming/editing these videos. In order to make time for something new, I'd have to neglect something else on the list. My goal is to partner with a manufacturer and get them to do that work, while I continue to design and build new stuff. The closest purchasable combination would be a Rogue utility seat and a replacement bench pad. That would cost around $400 but would still require a way to secure the pad on the seat.
Love your videos, I’d be interested in seeing a video of you creating/ designing different types of endless rope friction trainer, I have a battle rope that I would also like to multipurpose for a possible friction endless rope trainer to attach to the top or bottom of a rack to pull, just an idea!
@@KaizenDIYGym since I don't have the fancy shop like you, my DIY will have to wait until it's a little warmer. Lol I do have an idea for a face hole though.
Hey Kyle. Thanks so much for sharing your awesome designs for free! I have a few of yours bookmarked and looking forward to making them myself when the time comes. I like this solely for using it as part of a GHD as demonstrated in your short. Maybe as a desk too 😅 However do you have any idea on what sort of weight it can handle? I don't think I would trust it with a heavy box squat.
I'm doing the same thing but instead of making a pad. I bought a $50 pad that's 4 foot long. That's replacement for a bench that I'm going to just bolt to the wood.
Wow! You are a very talented craftsman, I subscribed and will be looking forward to future projects. Are you on Instagram? I'd love to post pictures of your bench and rack on my page.
Awesome man! All the exercises you can do with any easy piece of wood is amazing actually! I will make something similar I think with scafffoling and a piece of wood on top of it! By the way, your gym looks pretty hardcore, are you gonna fix the walls and ceiling as well? 😉
I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with! I’ll be moving into a new house this summer. I’m trying not to do any extra work on this house before I go.
That thing looks great! Any ideas how someone might make it work with Bells of Steel spotter arms though? There are no holes through them like yours. I suppose I could try to rig something up on the side of the pad closest to the rack and try to secure it to the rack itself to keep it from sliding around but still use the arms to take the weight.
I'll bet you could figure out how to use a bench pad replacement, like Rep sells, or like the Thompson Fat Pad. More money obviously, and the length might not span the rack width, but it's something to consider if you want a better pad.
hey there love your content I just subbed. Can you DIY dip machine with the rack? I think it would really cool if we can dip with plates. have a great day and keep up your good work!
Awesome build. Will be adding this to my set up for sure. Any worries about the weight capacity of the bench? I might be tempted to beef mine up with some additional 2x4 supports under the main board 👍
If your not going to plan on removing the vinyl cushion portion, could this be made without adding the plywood? Just attach the vinyl cushion directly to the 2x12? Do you think it would be sturdy enough?
So cool. Planning on making one of these soon! Had a few questions for you: 1. Are you happy with the single hitch pin on each side of the 2x4 or do you wish you would've done 2 on each side? wondering how much wiggle there is in the bench. 2. Are you happy with the 1" foam or do you wish you would've went thicker? I'd use for seal rows, but also reverse hypers, Bulgarian split squat, nordics, etc. 3. I have a PR-5000 so 1" inch holes all around. How would you recommend drilling holes in the 2x4s with that size rack? I hope that makes sense.
I love how organized your comment is. I am happy with the single hitch pin. It doesn’t move much. The 1” foam is fine, 2” would be better but I’m not sure it’s worth the cost increase. For the PR5000 I would drill 1” holes in the 2x4 and use 1” hitch pins.
@@KaizenDIYGym It would be very helpful to be able to change the angle as it would greatly expand the exercises one could use this for such as T-bar rows, low rows, ect. Are you willing to make a video demonstrating a version that can be adjusted to different angles?

The 2x12 is pretty strong but if you’re concerned about weight capacity, you can reinforce it with a 2x4 along the bottom as well. I’d bolt the 2x4 to the 2x12. It’ll definitely hold you after that.
