Hi yes so just to clarify I don’t have to uninstall my old drivers before taking out my old gpu and I can just take out my old gpu and put in the new gpu then uninstall my old drivers and put the new ones on while I have my new card in as long as I’m going from nivida to nivida correct
Full disclosure: I am a total newbie to PC and the parts of the build, etc. Like, the beginner of all beginners. I found your channel last night and I’ve watched a few of your videos now. They are so immensely informative and helpful, especially to someone like me who doesn’t know much about computers yet. You explain things slowly and in easy to understand language. I’ve already learned SO MUCH about my desktop gaming PC that I recently purchased. I bought a prebuilt tower from NZXT, but now I want to learn more about it for if I ever want to upgrade down the road. My dad is very smart when it comes to computers but I figured I’m approaching my 30s in a couple years, so it’s time I learn it for myself haha! Thank you so much again for putting out this content, it’s so helpful and easy to understand! It is very appreciated and I will keep watching!
This is a very good video to refer newbies to for upgrading their graphics cards. Just enough info to make the process understandable without being overwhelming with technical facts thrown around. I'll start forwarding people who ask me about this process to your video since it's so easy to follow. I have a bad habit of over explaining and people tend to get lost.
Thank you for going through both NVIDIA and AMD. Many videos show one process and assume people will figure it out, but as we all know - it doesn't always add up step for step.
same bro i wanted to buy a new gpu and remove the old gpu drivers because i heard that if you dont remove your old gpu drivers you wont get the max performance from your new gpu

Coming from the "Plug and Pray" era of PCs, I appreciate this. I just got myself an updated card and was amazingly concerned I'd be stranded if I uninstalled drivers before replacing the card. Thank you for this thorough walkthrough.
Amazing video this really helped me and you talked about things I was worried about myself like needing to uninstall the drivers before or after installing the new graphics card. Thought the video is a few year old now it still holds up to date I really appreciate you making this video.

1:35 You just answered my question. This was a concern of mine. My CPU is a i7-10700F, which does not have integrated graphics - so I always feared I'd get a sudden 'black screen' if I disabled or uninstalled the drivers for my 1660 Ti. Just as you said: I still had a low resolution, 'wonky' display after removing the Nvidia drivers. Thanks a lot for the information. I've been concerned about this for a while now and you removed all my fears.
Good stuff, thanks for all the clarification. I was one of the people who was scared of having no more display after uninstalling drivers and I feel a bit stupid lmao.
This was an excellent video! I appreciated the stuff you included in the beginning even though you could have just jumped right into the steps. It was nice to have that context and reassurance that it wasn't going to cause issues to uninstall the drivers first.
Amazing explaining, It helped so much by making me understand all the necessary steps of gpu drivers installation. Please Sir Keep it up. and Huge respect.

Hi Ho. I had malware so I had to reinstall Win10... Mine is Asus GeForce RTX 2080 Turbo (Dual Ball, 8GB GDDR6 Memory). I have 2 choices - Asus web site download (for exactly my gfx card) OR should I delete those drivers and install nVidia GeForce RTX 2080 (no Turbo, just SUPER as a choice)? Thanks man. I switched from a GTX 1060 to a RTX 3080 and suddenly i couldnt use any geforce experience functions, because it said that i didnt have a 800 series or higher card. After unistalling an installing the drivers manually it now works.
So I am fairly new at messing with the inner workings of a pc, and your videos have been an incredible help. So I want to begin by saying thank you, you're amazing! I have learned so much this morning just watching your videos on random PC upgrading. HUGE help! But anyway, before I start ripping apart my pc, I have a question in regard to upgrading graphics, as well as your (or anyone else that feels like being charitable today!) thoughts on performance enhancement if i switch from 12gb to 2 sticks of 8? As well as going from integrated to dedicated card. SO here's my real question.... In regard to this specific video, and this is probably a stupid question, but is this video and using the DDU relevant when switching from the graphics card that came with my HP PAV (tp01-1140), which is an integrated regular amd (i can't find any further details on the graphics card other than integrated amd) to a dedicated upgraded AMD or NVidia? Or is this this video only for switching out your dedicated cards? I know dedicated means it comes with it's own ram and integ, uses the pc ram. But what are the advantages? Would it be enough to make a difference in performance. And just so you know, this comp is used for my call center work part time and then my boys and I use it for games.... roblox & fortnite for them and slither for me . Don't judge! lol Anyone have any thoughts on doing this? Suggestions? Advice? I would appreciate any and all! :)

Thanks man very helpful and simple also if you have a video of what to do if you change from intel to amd ryzen cpu how to uninstall old intel driver and install new amd drivers thanks.
Hello, I have a question that I am very worried about. I've been using this current laptop for almost 4 years already and always used the windows graphic drivers (The ones that comes from windows updates lol). I've seen that they are mostly outdated because sometimes when I try launching some games, those games reset my graphic drivers and it is very annoying. I don't have any intention of getting a new graphic card or anything and AMD radeon settings never opened for me. Do I really need to uninstall my drivers if I am not getting any new graphic cards or I only dowload the AMD drivers on their official website? Also I've been getting problems like screen tearring, stuttering, and many issues that comes from outdated graphic drivers. Thanks :D!
Hey please someone help me Imagine i have a 3200G apu and his driver and I want to install a new graphics card like RX 560 GTX 1050 RX 550 , so I need to uninstall all amd drivers on my pc then shut down then plug the graphics card then connecting hdmi cable to my monitor then I install the drivers of the graphics card I installed please someone can confirm that
Very helpful as always. I think would be good to mention that the newest driver isn't always best. Some can be very buggy and actually make things worse. I'm having a really hard time figuring out how to update my 466.47 driver as it makes Half Life Alyx Crash. Anyone have a preferred driver for GeForce RTX 3070? Ty
Do you have a video that explains game crashes after replacing RAM and how to trouble shoot that? I upgraded from 16GB to 32GB RAM of the same number of sticks & same brand. Now games will play about 10-15 min and crash to the desktop. sometimes the PC wants to reboot itself once during start up. A video that covers how to address this would be most appreciated.
So did you replace all your RAM sticks or did you add two more? If you added some then I'd ask if it has the same speed and timings as your old RAM? Did you enable your RAM's XMP? If so it's possible your new RAM is faster than the memory controller on your CPU supports. Ive found this to be a big problem with Ryzen 1000 and 2000 CPU's. They do good with RAM speeds up to around 3000MHz, above that they start crashing to the desktop, blue screening or not booting at all (nothing but a black screen). I've thought about making a video going over this kind of stuff; random crashes to the desktop, bluescreens and black screens after enabling XMP but just haven't gotten to it. There's always the possibility you have a bad RAM module too. That can cause all sorts of weirdness and can be really hard to troubleshoot.
@@Maraksot78 I replaced all 4 sticks of RAM. I was using corsair vengeance LP 4 x 4GB and swapped over to the corsair vengeance LP 4 x8GB. Both are 1.5v and have the same specs other then the advertised MHz. The old RAM was something like 1880MHz and the new one installed is advertised at 1600MHz. I'm not sure what XMP is to be honest so I'll say no I didn't enable it. I'll research that further. ( i'm not the most tech savy guy and a friend of mine thought building this PC would be a learning experience and fun project back in 2012. The PC has held up well and its only needed minor replacement or upgrades. The RAM has been the biggest issue or problem. The motherboard is a ASUS Sabertooth Z77 and from what I read, this RAM should be compatible and within the Motherboard's limitations. I can send you a more detailed description of everything I tried along with the PC specs but I feel it would be a bit much to add to a RUclips comment section. Thanks again for your quick reply and for trying to help; much appreciated.
I done something wrong while upgrading from old gpu to new gpu, Every now and then my computer screen goes completely black and then comes back. This happens only in games not in other application. Now I have checked cable, psu, reinstalled os but cant find anything problematic. I hope my new hardware is in good condition. My old gpu was also giving same problem but frequency is less compared to new. Any solution from you guys?

I done something wrong while upgrading from old gpu to new gpu,
Every now and then my computer screen goes completely black and then comes back. This happens only in games not in other application.
Now I have checked cable, psu, reinstalled os but cant find anything problematic.
I hope my new hardware is in good condition. My old gpu was also giving same problem but frequency is less compared to new.
Any solution from you guys?
Very helpful
