I am so happy to find this complete recording of the 2008 performance of Grace. Franssens' works are transformative. Never the less, this one in particular is the most romantic of the composers' oeuvre. I often listen to it as pure meditation finding release in its many broad strokes and dense colorations. The soprano rises from orchestral mists and soars in triumph only to have the entire orchestra rise higher and higher into brilliant heights, then, (the image in my mind) bright sunlight sparkling on new fallen snow, a crisp winter morning. And finally there is no ending, no final resolution. The music just slowly vanishes. I am left with nothing more than 'Grace.'
Every hundred years the musical pendulum swings back. I am happy to hear that Romanticism is back in the 21st century! We have waited too long for music like "Grace" to reappear on the stage!
Sorry; make that Video DownloadHelper, not youtube downloader. Do you live in RSA? I have a relative in RSA who married someone named Potgieter. Looks like an Afrikaans name...
@@jacquespotgieter7005 I'm embarrassed to say that at the moment I'm not sure. My cousin & his wife live near Scarborough. One of their daughters married an Anton Potgieter, and the last I heard they were somewhere east of Cape Town.
@@tedwilks Don't be embarrassed, the Potgieters are all over the globe! The surname became extinct in North Germany where the SA settlers came from so all Potgieters today are presumably all from the same original settler. We have even found a distant relative in the USA and he is asian. Fascinating!
Just so complete: for me, this says it all. Music for MY soul.

I am desperate to buy this. Have any idea where I can find it as a download? Sadly iTunes does not have it.

@@tedwilks Yes it is an Afrikaans surname. Where in SA are your relatives?
