Born in 1927 but looking and working (conducting is a serious work, right?) like a bunny rabbit (in an old battery company commercial.) A role model for seniors - including me. Thank you, Maestro, for many decades of good music.

This is "old school" at its very best. I've listened to Blomstedt live some times in his San Francisco years. Always satisfying. But this one? I have a recording of Sir John Barbirolli from the 1960's. Every other recording I've heard is the typical modern rush rush, shred the fabric of the original intent. Oh my. Experience in complete control of a world class orchestra. Absolutely caressing the of so perfect phrasing. Tempos give space for the music to breathe its character. The best I've ever heard of this work. Just wonderful! And yes, I'm 70, and he's like a quarter century older than me. Bravo maestro!

He conducts without a score in front of him. He trusts his memory even though he is in his mid 90’s. Amazing. And he doesn’t try to control the orchestra. He just lets them play and makes sure they don’t go off the rails. Beautiful musicianship all around.

How lovely to finally see a well known orchestra with a more appropriate balance of women to men. It's a rare thing to see women given the same respect and positions as men in the classical world. LONG overdue!

I remember my father playing a 78rpm record of this when I was a boy. He was known as Tony, although Anthony was really his middle name, as it is mine. It has stayed with me through life. This version of the Brahms variations is by far the best!

Brahms conseguiu manter seu estilo único mesmo sob um tema de Haydn..., resultado, temos os dois em um só!

I love everything I have heard from this symphony. Superb orchestra, wonderful maestro, and the very best camera and sound productions. Brahms exposition on a drab Haydn tune is amazing.
