It's so sad, that people nowadays do not know, how an oboe really had to sound 50-150 years ago, when most of that music was composed! Here's the sound of a Viennese oboe (basically a modified historic German oboe): Bright, rich in overtones, and leggiero. The player on oboe 1 is Karl Mayrhofer, who also was especially famous for "his" sound.
Variation two piú vivace is my favorite followed by variation 6 vivace.
