I remember watching it as a kid and being kinda freaked out, especially by Bushroot. In my dub the 'corpse' was more directly explained as him 'shedding' the outer layer to escape.
This has always been one of the more memorable Darkwing episodes for me. I'll admit I've never watched Twin Peaks, so I didn't get the references when I was a kid but now that am older I think it's pretty cool. Fun fact: Cookie Monster also did a sketch on Sesame Street called Twin Beaks that was also a tribute/parody of the tv show.
Lunchpad: I'm getting bad vibrations about this town DW, something strange is going on here. DW: No, strange is learning your wife is an Elvis impersonator from the Bermuda triangle.
Twin Beaks was also namedropped in the Mighty Ducks animated series. Specifically, where the first leader Canard finds "The Mask" of Drake Ducaine, it's original creator.
My favorite line on that episode is when Launchpad said all these people treating cabbages like children that's weird. And Darkwing Duck says know what's weird is your wife as an Elvis impersonator for the Bermuda Triangle this is bizarre!
I remember this episode; but having never seen Twin Peaks, I didn't know that it was a parody of that show. That. . .sorta clears things up. XD I also didn't remember the Far Side reference! LOL!
Honestly, this and the original two Max Payne games (which also parody Twin Peaks with a show-within-a-game titled "Address Unknown") really make me wanna buy the "Twin Peaks: The Entire Mystery" Blu-ray and watch both the first two seasons and Fire Walk with Me. What? The more I get exposed to parodies of something, the more I want to watch what inspired it.
Not going to lie; the most I know about Twin Peaks is through very VERY limited culture osmosis as though yeah it is something a fair amount of shows reference and mock it's not say a Star Wars/Back To The Future/Terminator that most everyone takes shots at so most of my knowledge comes from like The Simpsons "Who Shot Mr. Burns Part 2" (thus why I was disappointed this ep didn't have Backwards talk in it) or even like a Homestar Halloween cartoon. I think I do remember Leon Thomas of Renegade Cut talking about it once but yeah again very very limited. IMHO though if the parody is good enough and still fits enough or works within the narrative of the series I can still get into it and honestly that's the vibe I got with this. Mostly framing it around Drake/Darkwing trying to actually be more an actual detective and use logic and reasoning and his annoyance at Launchpad saying he has psychic powers or that the log was talking to him. Like if you have a straight man who snarks on the material even if they have to go along with it that works. I especially love at the end Gosalyn going "come on dad it's obviously alien cabbage created by these cows who sent a hologram ahead of their own own forces to warn us and had Bushroot as a look out" like it was so matter of fact and him just having to go along with it. Having that as a framing point makes it work regardless of if you know the specifics like yeah I didn't know wrapping Bushroot's supposed corpse and throwing it off the waterfall was an homage to the show's beginning but how it's framed and presented still made enough sense to enjoy it. And you know you do have to also remember that this came out in 1992 where yeah kids shows were starting to overtly more parody a bit more adult or obscure material then you'd see in the 80's but it still wasn't exactly either a common thing or felt like a proper homage to the source material. I mean the Super Mario Brothers Super Show were making references to Mad Max Road Warrior but they weren't painted with the same kind of care this episode did with Twin Peaks. And honestly the fact you could do well done homages to such adult fare in kids cartoons I think did translate and we have been getting solid ones since then. Remember when Kids Next Door did a parody to of all things the Second Rennaissance from The Animatrix? Once you show the barrier can come down some do it well. Admittedly though still a decent Ineeptoons ep I do feel the material works better if it is Erod talking about more a bad episode then just a weird one with a specific parody some may not get. Thus I get going back to Batman this time New Batman Adventures and looking at it's most notorious stinker.
I knew the show it was parodying but not much of what it was about. But I did get the Far Side references immediately. The cows are not what they seem.

6:47 - Funny enough, I never heard of the Log Lady until I saw one of the Homestar Runner Halloween Toons.
May be an odd duck of an episode, but dang is it hilariously fun. XD
Yeah, it started off. He has a twin peaks pardoy, but then halfway through, they said, "Let put invasion of the body snatchers"
14:36 - A Batman episode written by the late Steve Gerber? SWEET.
If I could concentrate all of the WTF on earth into one face, it would look like that (7:38)
This is one of those episodes that just has a bunch of wonderful lines to repeat!

The planet Larson? As in Gary Larson, of “The Far Side” fame? In this case, a reference to the infamous “Cow Tools” comic?
Okay Warworld was much worse than I remembered it, but this is often considered a good Darkwing Duck episode! I wonder what's so bad about it.

gravity falls is twin peaks for kids
And moville mysteries is the Twilight zone
makes ya wonder how different this episode would be if it were made today
Definitely an odd one, yet a nice tribute to Twin Peaks.
I screamed at the Far Side Reference! LOL!

Oh yeah, another episode that makes us cringe. And honestly, this might have worked for Superman rather than Batman.
Please make a video on the captain planet Ep "Who gives a Hoot". I heard it to be the worst of the series
Oh yeah, especially the ending.
