When the Blipocalypse came around, this was one of the reviews that i failed to save, and i never got to see if it's as infamous as legends say it is. I specifically remember how someone at TV Tropes put this specific video in the "Dethroning Moment of Suck" entries. The statement that stick out from the user's summary was his reaction to ERod' complaining about Matthew's Gadget costume, and now that i've seen it in full, i can finally adress that context was needed for that situation. In the review itself, Eric said this was because "it was grey in the cartoon so the character won't be considered an Inspector Closeau ripoff." After some research on IMDB, all i could find that the quotation statement above was the reason why Gadget no longer has the moustache from the cartoon's pilot but so far, nothing related to the trenchcoat. I would like some help in regards to that. In regards to the episode, it wasn't as bad or atrocious as the legends claim it was, it was the average Blockbuster Buster episode post Episode I (his 100th episode). Most of his comparisons to the cartoon were valid for the most part, even though that argument got repetitive quickly. Not to mention the film has a lot more wrong in it beyond not being faithful to the original. I COULD complain how come he's so forgiving for most modern MCU films for doing the exact same thing this movie did, but that's not here nor there. Once more, thank you very much. This still counts as valuable material pertaining the Blockbuster Buster. If you see another missing review from his, keep circulating the links!

I wouldn’t hate a ton of the changes if they were executed well- Gadget being semi-competent, showing Claw’s face, etc. Again, IF THEY WERE EXECUTED WELL. And BTW, Quimby WAS the Chief of Police, and Gadget WAS a cop, not a secret agent. And why is it okay they changed the guy who gave Gadget his gadgets in the 2015 series but not in the movie?

Since this live action movie got a lot of things wrong about Inspector gadget maybe they’ll get things right one day when they make an inspector gadget, live action TV show cause sometimes when they may adapt a cartoon into a live action movie and get things wrong. They get right when they fix things by turning into a live action TV show yeah Inspector gadget in this movie isn’t dumb enough. In fact, he’s a lot smarter the second live action movie they got things right by making him dumber. And the second movie they make Dr. claw voice sounds like Dr. claw.
The second movie is better! We never saw Claw's face, he's always in the shadows; his henchemens are funny, the cartoony humor worked, the robot girl is likable and her romance with gadget is cute, Penny is proactive and brave. I prefer Inspector gadget 2 than this abomination. At least, IG 2 is entertaining 🙂

12:11 Okay, so I have an honest question real quick, don't mean to get heated here, but...WHO CARES?!? Who honestly gives a s$#& about the color of his trenchcoat? How does that impact the film in any way whatsoever? What does a somewhat different name for a character, a different type of robotic hand, or someone's new job profession have to do with the quality of writing, acting, or cinematography of the movie we are watching now? Say what you will about Doug, but when he reviewed this film, he looked at it's merits as a FILM! Meanwhile, a majority of these complaints he focuses on come off as nothing more than petty squabbles and nitpicks that both older audiences won't care about because they have more important stuff in their lives to worry about than some changeups to details from a cartoon they watched in the 80s and younger audiences wont care about because they likely haven't even seen the show before. I'm sorry about the tirade, but dang this is a constant problem I have with Eric's reviews as a whole. I used to watch them a lot as a kid, but seeing them now as I get older, these "critiques" come off more as childish grievances from someone who hasn't grown up yet.

The Nostalgia Critic’s criticisms reflect his nostalgia for movies & shows, where the Blockbuster Buster’s criticisms represents any fan who hates a movie based on something they loved from their childhood. No old or younger audience would care about the movie, but the point of reviews are supposed to make people care & realized the movies they watched aren’t as good as they remember compared to the source material. That said, Reviewers do have problems with themselves.
Inspector Gadget movie is 25 years old I remember the toys from Burger King, funny enough so many kids searched for them all even going to different states and being interviewed The song by Youngstown is very good and it was from their debut album Get Smart actor Don Adams did the cartoon voice Nostalgia Critic hated the film with a passion and it's a shame it led to a slump in Mathew Broderick's career It wasn't received kindly from critics mainly Roger Ebert putting it on his most hated list but made a lot of money around $134 million worldwide to warrant a direct to video sequel Plus the creators of the live action Aladdin are set to make another one Let's face it; bringing this beloved TV show to the big screen is as much of a challenge as anything staying true to the source material there's a couple things they got right such as the look, the theme song and some fun special effects yet the movie is the equivalent of a shaking keys in front of an infant's face just to keep their attention I like the actors though, they really look like the characters despite the many changes the filmmakers made; Rupert Everett plays over-the-top again yet he still has some likeablility as a villain, Mattew Broderick's acting is pretty much transparent, the best is perhaps Andy Dick who just plays himself a lot of the stupidity could've been discarded though cause it gets damn irritating fast some of the fourth wall jokes may even evoke a chuckle but I think the smaller viewers will find more appeal than the adults it's not God awful but damn, couldn't they have at least not shown Claw's face? that's the whole point! there are much worse adaptations so this interpretation of Inspector Gadget is the best there is
