  • Identity. A loaded word with even more loaded interpretations. Our personalities and life choices no doubt shape identity, but what about places? What does it mean when the architecture around us can contribute to stigmatizing who we are and how we live? Viktoria Walldin shares the connection between our surroundings and identity in her TEDx talk, revealing the power of urban design in rebuilding negatively charged locations. Viktoria Walldin is a Partner at White Architects, a social anthropologist among architects, and an expert on social sustainability. Through her work, she aims to better understand people’s experiences, values, and behaviors linked to their environment. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
