This game is incredibly nostalgic to me, while it doesn't have the best gameplay, the level designs, the idea of eating all the fruits in order to finish a level, and just the charm of the artstyle and soundtracks, and also the game play is still pretty good. It'll always have a very special place in my heart.

This looks like a very sweet... but very strange game. It's way of progression is... odd, to say the least. Quite complex for such a lovely-looking game! Kinda weird that every run is so short, but I suppose that adds to the replayability. I wonder what makes it one of the weaker titles, though...

24 years since this game came out, and it still has so much personality and heart and joy. Maybe it's not a finely-tuned masterpiece of mechanics and game design, but it tells a good story in a way that's true to itself and finds surprising ways to take something simple, and make it fun and memorable and comforting. And I think that's worth celebrating and preserving. Thanks for thinking the same.

I remember when this game was review on Nintendo Power one of the reviewers said (if I remember correctly) “this game is so cute I have to take a Duke Nukem break”.
What sucks about this game are the game over scenes, you have to watch the poor yoshers get carried away by the shy guys, and they’re visibly crying before they get locked up in the castle. It makes my heart ache every time. 🥺😖😭 For that, I try to keep them from dying every time I play.
This brings back memories. "Yoshi's Story" was the first game I could play all by myself. (Although I could only play 1-1 over and over again, as I would die in every level with pitfalls and other instant death traps. I was six then.)
I used to play Majoras Mask a fkn lot. But this game just hit when I needed something colorfull, simple and cute. Like watching Spongebob after watching an horror movie. Totally loved this game, its levels, the fruit mechanic, the different yoshis
The first time I played Littlebigplanet on PS3 it immediately reminded me of Yoshi's Story. Both great platformers. Patchwork-like art design, 2d yet with layers, bubbles you need to collect and of course overwhelming cuteness!
The ultimate badasses. They face so many dangers and what to they do when they stand still? Stomping cute with their feet and saying pram pram pram pram
Man, I remember renting this game at Hollywood Video a long time ago for my N64. I am planning on buying a physical copy of the game and hook up my N64 to my modern TV using my upscaler set to 4:3 ratio.
I def remember renting yoshis story 2 weeks in a row and loving it so much. I found it at a yard sale for $5 a few months later and didn't have to rent it any more
This game will forever remind me of Super Mario Sunshine, since that game takes a lot of enemy style choices from the Yoshi games, Bowser Jr. was based on Baby Bowser, so many silly tunes are used, and the life system is even similar.
Man...the mecha tower 1 level and the tower level were always my favorites, oh and jelly pipe....simply the melody of each, and the design of them. So nostalgic. Thanks for enduring the N64 controls for this footage! :)

You got fish that can kill you in one hit (sniper), ghosts that can relentlessly knock you into the pit, TONS of falling along with pistons that can crush you in one go and finally a dozen instances where enemies like the white snake enemy in 5-1 can combo you to death if you make it follow in a specific way where you get trapped and just like I said above, you get comboed to death.
