The Bluez Shift Promo that starts this video is a classic production that was lost in the passage of time. Many of Bro Matt's previous guests are heard, such as (in order:) Willie Dixon, Blind Joe Hill, Pee Wee Crayton, Jimmy Witherspoon, Nate the Great, & Gil T-Rhythm Pigs.
This is what it was like: a party, live on-air, with live music, & a collection of misc fun-loving party people. P Mirkin & the Bodags kick off this exclusive 1986 Bluez Shift anniversary party at 88.9FM KXLU. The video is pretty dark but captures the festive environment often surrounding Brother Matt.
P Mirkins & the Bodags were playing in the KXLU on-air studio and you can at times hear Johnny Dyer & the LA Jukes warming up down the hall in the production studio. Their set will be coming up after this in Part 3.
