I remember thinking about this when I was a kid(I’m 19, so this wasn’t exactly forever ago). My thought process was basically, “everything we do in our lives beyond meeting basic needs is motivated by an aversion to boredom. We’re constantly doing something/being stimulated. Imagine what we could do if we just took time to be alone with our thoughts each day.” And of course I proceeded to become even more screen addicted than ever during subsequent years

I spent 3 months in a hospital back in 2019. Over half the time was spent without my phone. I learned a few things about bordem and why we avoid it.
My mind went immediately to my problems and whatever was stressing me. Phones represent an escape. But because I didn't have my phone I was forced to reconcile my thoughts and fears but how uncertain my future was at that time. Being in a hospital unable to walk, talk or eat you can imagine I had a lot to worry about.
So instead of trying to push my anxiety away I chose to have faith that things would get better and pour the little energy I had into long conversations with my family members who were with me.
It wasn't easy and broke down several times, but it was necessary for me to go through thst in order to heal mentally.
As I regained my health I've carried the belief that bordem, being able to sit quietly in a room with your own thoughts is essential to life. If we can get past the intial urge to escape via our phones, we will find whatever troubling thoughts may come with bordem won't last and behind it all is true creativity and wonder.

I've started eating without my phone and, god, the ideas I've got are amazing. Also, getting bored it gives the space to the introspection and it's where your deepest thoughts come out. For me, not using your phone and focusing more in you, it`s an outward journey

I can relate to this video in sooo many ways. Our phones, computers, social medias etc. literally disconnects us from the real world. I realized it more now since I started to change my habits. It's like humans are intelligent creatures and they should think, they should take time to be creative than to just actively try to pass time over things. While our time is this precious, why do we try to make it pass this badly?
Ever since I started to realize things I started to just sit on my bed and dream. To think about anything that comes to my mind, to talk to myself, and let myself be my only friend. And let me tell you it improved my life so much. I mean I always was a dreamer, always was a thinker when I was a child. But actually spending time doing that is a whole another thing, and helped me get my life on track.
Thank you for making this video, it's really helpful

Second: This was so stupidly well shot and graded and edited and whatever the fuck else. Not a single wasted shot, second, or line of dialogue. Pacing is immaculate and the script is perfectly concise, yet isn’t rushed at all. You’ve easily just become yet another source of inspiration for my own work/art, and for that you have my gratitude. In the last few weeks I had a something similar in my mind,
I am studying at home in order to get qualified for university to a math degree
And untill recently I was playing a lot of computer games in my free time and phone games... youtube videos
and except of now and then I don't really anjoy it, it is just keeps me less bored and drains me to play more
( I enjoy some youtube videos and comuter games with friends but not alone)
now I realised that even though I studied a lot and I want a break
playing a game might not be that good
and I might rather do nothing
I thought to myself that it is ok to be bored now and then
and even if I get bored a lot this is the reality right now
and doing stuff that I am used to do is not better than being bored and use that time to accept some of the boredness and use some of this time to think what something new can I try
so I didn't stop entirely but I do it less

I like that your videos are different and tells a story with purpose. Not like the usual vlogs.

this describes how I've been feeling so accurately. I've had the most productive year of my life by making new friends, accomplishing so much work, learning new skills, and traveling so often. In my 20s, I feel obligated to make every day a productive day because I have the time, the money, and the energy. This attitude is starting to crush me, and deliberately doing nothing for once really helped bring my mood up. I didn't really know why it worked, but this explains it so well. Thanks.

AMAZINGLY WELL DONE VIDEO. I almost wanna call it a short film! You have such a cinematic vision for your videos, it is so fun to watch! I would love to see a behind the scenes video of how you make a video! I'm so curious on how you come up with each shot! 😊
