Being alone with your thoughts is not bad as we think, it makes us delve within and think of things that are innovative and creative. Back then, being alone excites me a lot and my mind was actually noisy in a way it makes me think more and more stuff. I am really fond in writing and reading, as it was my favorite activities back then when wifi was barely accessible. While you're right in almost everything I can think of in this video, boredom isn't having a free time within which one may spend developing his own thoughts, but also encompasses the loss of will as well to do almost most of the things one once enjoyed. Doesn't mean it's permanent or goes on for hours, but there's a difference between dedicating some time to process your accumulated thoughts and emotions (which I think fulfills all the points you addressed, and being "not in the mood" for doing most of what you liked, say yesterday. Thank you. I needed this. I will place a restriction on YT using a screen time management app and allow myself to be bored. I hope to finally, finally give myself the break needed in order to engage in what I used to enjoy.
So, your only source of atimulation and entertainment is YT and other platforms?? That's sad! I cannot tolerate boredom, and I can and have spent weeks without internet.
I came to my new life by staring at the emptiness of the white wall of a hospital. There I saw my distain for it and vowed never to come by its presence again but also discovered the crux of my sickness. It’s been a year since that day and I am holding down a job, have my own place, and my art has never been so vibrant. So much has changed but I still stare at walls as a time to ponder but as a reminder of what lead me to my better existence. I’m glad to see this idea repeated and gain much hope our return to this. Thanks for the video and loved the choice of art for its background, it brought such a beauty to the idea.
Thank you for making this video. I have known about how much instant gratification I indulge in, and I have know about delay gratification, avoiding bad dopamine. But I have been still struggling with avoiding instant gratification. Your video has inspired me to avoid all forms of instant gratification RUclips, TikTok, games, movies, music, etc. I am better off just doing endless pushups than indulge in instant gratification.
Absolutely fantastic video on the philosophy of boredom! The way you explain the details is so calming and gives me so much clarity when I think deeply about what’s best for me and the people around me. Thank you!! ❤
What an important message to today's society. Thank you for making this video. :) In all honesty, I never feel bored, because when I have 'nothing to do' I sit and meditate and thoughts come to life. And you're so right: being constantly entertained numbs one's creativity. I have noticed that with myself as well. But you can get it back easily by doing exactl as this video says.
This is such a great video. I am always doing something to distract my self from boredom, but it definitely would be benefitial to not be so afraid of it. You gained a subscriber!
I'm not afraid of boredom, I'm scared of being left alone with my own thoughts, i do not control them nor can i learn how to, and the only way to keep myself safe is by always being distracted, music has become an integral part of my general well-being, playing the classical guitar has become a therapeutic activity in which i never have to think or care about anything except the quality of the sounds i create, which is a state of mind that spans most of my day, the problem doesn't lie in excess stimulus, rather in unhealthy stimulus, find what's worthy of being done infinitely throughout your life and worship it.
If god is so omni-benevolent, and omnipotent, then why wont he make all of us initially equal? And it is through hardships and suffering that we develop both body and mind? How do you wish to reconcile about the disabled people?
I was staying at my dads place which is very remote. I was bored living there for a couple months. I started reading books on my kindle, which I rarely done before. I read 2 books and then started reading the Bible. I am now a practicing Catholic. Boredom is metal.
I'm gonna be honest !! An year ago before INFINITY WAR was released, in my summer vacations, I was succumbed to total boredom for a day and *seriously the whole story of INFINITY WAR was there in my mind with different characters !! That's the power of boredom. I have felt that !!*
Something similar for me, I played video games for a whole month every day for hours until the evening during my summer break. Before school, I had a moment of boredom when I realized I could have used some of that time wasted on instant gratification, learning new things.
I always had the assumption that being bored is a waste of time rather I could watch some informative video on yt. But now I'll rather be bored and embrace it
I fear any possibility of going to prison and be trapped in a small cramped space full of people I do not trust. However, I deeply think of those who are in prisons... Out of respect for their reality. I sometimes deliberately drop everything I do and just enjoy my own company doing nothing other than thinking or reading. This practice has helped me appreciate the smallest things we have a privilege of enjoying as well as allowing my mind and body to really slow down and step back more often than not. It has also made me look up to the skies more often. I have always been content with my life but with this... I also learned to further appreciate TIME
I feel like statements author makes about boredom are misleading. Firstly, we don't seek distraction from boredom to avoid our thoughts (unless you're experiencing traumatic or stressful events in life, from which distraction is vital). Our thoughts often resonate with topics you already know and like, such as topic brought by a book, event that happened in game, etc. It takes some time to process information we found interesting and during that procession our thoughts are vivid. When we run out of them, we feel boredom. Given examples do not resonate with boredom, but with curiosity. Those people came up with new ideas not because of being bored. They where only analyzing information tied to field they specialize on, then found something that resonated with their knowledge. That's inspiration!
It's true that in today's world, we often find ourselves filling every idle moment with distractions. The examples of great thinkers like Newton, Watt, and Jobs are compelling reminders that embracing moments of boredom can lead to remarkable insights and innovations. I appreciate the message here, emphasizing the importance of self-reflection and mindful solitude. It's a timely reminder that the pursuit of constant stimulation can sometimes hinder our creativity and self-discovery. So, let's all take a moment to appreciate the value of occasional boredom and use it as a stepping stone!
Watching video about boredom to avoid boredom. I know the contradiction. However, I must thank you for making this educational video as this topic couldn't be more current. I use very little social media nowadays but this was a good reminder to consider this topic further. As in most cases, coins have their other side as well and this is one great example of a worthwhile youtube video.
thank you for this mind opening leson about boredom! Since a couple of months I was thinking, how could I improve myselfe, but I frogt to just be bored at times and always looked for something to do. But this just made me lose my own mind a bit again. So thank you.
Boredom in the pandemic made me want to learn the piano and I discovered a hidden talent there. I may not be the future mozart, but I can already play some chopin etudes, which is no small feat
As a person who lived absolutely alone for 2 years, talking to people only a couple of hours per week and not using socials/playing video games, my productivity didn't skyrocket. I just sat alone, looking at the wall, not wanting to do anything. I had to force myself to go prepare food. I've gotten seriously depressed. Now that I'm back to living with the family and usual things, I might be procrastinating a lot, but I'm much happier. At the end of the day, watching silly cat videos and laughing at things with others is worth more than greatness.
Thanks for this eye opener. I started to experience more boredom for the last month, and it has improved my productivity and towered my mind to new heights.
The main point is to not be scared to be in situations that seem boring. They may be the most important, the time when your mind can wonder all over the place like you have described for yourself.
I use a memo pad and a pen to write and capture my thoughts. Also for journaling if that makes sense and note taking etc. One thing i have noticed is that for an example i have came up with ideas on the usage of a single quotation mark in grammar. Plus, i use the top or the blank whote part for abstract drawings titles etc. Also i use voice recorders for different purpose and a voice recoder app for reading out loud. The other two for recordering mundane every day stuff and the other for creative purposes to be more specific creative writing. And finally i am on the fence of getting anlther voice recoder for school.
Boredom is the fundamental basis of Creation. The Creator got bored and lonely. It then created individual experiential units of you and I, to occupy itself with the drama of life's expressions.
I noticed this when I was like 7 or 8 years old but i was not aware of any of the examples. I just had this topic in my mind a lot earlier. And today this is recommended to me
Great video. I see a lot of inspiration from Academy Of Ideas and that's cool. We need more channels putting out content like this. Keep on posting, you'll surely changing someone's life !
I experienced this today as my dissatisfaction with the youtube algorithm led me to turn it off and meditate for a while, read a few chapters from a book I normally don't find the time for, do a chore I had been putting off for months, take a walk, sit down at the local cemetery, and be able to catch up with my regular evening routine around the same time as usual, where normally I would've spent those 3 hours watching videos.
experienced the same thing with youtube and i thought about doing something different than just wait for new algorithms to appear, i wonder how well it turned out for you in terms of productivity

Point is, everything but what interests him bores him into forgetting about it but I remembered it specifically because he's like: a genius when it comes to everything he's passionate about but stupid as fuck for anything else.
Hello I don’t think u will read this message but thanks to your video, your title was enough to make me start being bored again, I’ll stop everything cold turkey have a nice day
You are welcome
@@M1ndful-Main seriously video itself was boring, I was having serious issue in completing the video I found that I have got this problem 😔
Boredom has indeed encouraged me to have a much fresher perspective on so much. Thank you for this very helpful video.
I'm practicing self-improvement and discipline. Its so boring and unhappy. This helps alot!
Yesterday, I decided to stay for 12 hours without my phone, can't eating or drinking any thing, sitting in a small place in my room, with a notebook and pen, and some books for read, I was trying to get inside my mind, but this video, show me that what I was doing yesterday, it was a good idea, it was the path to be the stocisism and polymath guy that I want to be, thank you so much for making me excited to feel bored again.
I found my phone has consumed me. So much I wanna do, I wanna write stories and make things but my phone has taken my ability to day dream. 😔
Should probably stay hydrated while doing this tho 😂
This is absolutely true, my final Essay in Highschool was about this and it won me awards
Thank you. I needed this. I will place a restriction on YT using a screen time management app and allow myself to be bored. I hope to finally, finally give myself the break needed in order to engage in what I used to enjoy.
Great to hear! Wish you all the best on your journey of becoming your best self.

Thank you!! ❤
I did not watch this video because i was bored. I searched for it and found it useful, also took notes. Thanks for these insights.
Some of the greatest, most life changing decisions I’ve made in my life were made when I was kinda bored 😂
Imagine your great grandfather watching this video that advises you to be bored, man life changed so much
What an important message to today's society. Thank you for making this video. :)
In all honesty, I never feel bored, because when I have 'nothing to do' I sit and meditate and thoughts come to life.

People say I'm weird when I like being bored in class but in class is where I come up with the best video ideas because I'm bored
Loooove this. Can't wait to show my kids. We all need to see this video.
It was my pleasure to listen to you too sir, thank you ❤
God created us different, some of us are smart, some of us are not, but the key is to be satisfied with what God has given you
If god is so omni-benevolent, and omnipotent, then why wont he make all of us initially equal? And it is through hardships and suffering that we develop both body and mind? How do you wish to reconcile about the disabled people?
Boredom may occasionally lead to greatness. but more likely will lead to just being.
I get what you are saying. Of course, you don't want to be bored most of your life, but you want the felling of boredom to sometimes be a part of it.
Truth@@M1ndful-Main
But what Im really thinking is just being i'snt so bad, boredom isn't bad and greatness is overrated.
I learned very young in life that people who can't be alone are not healthy people.
Even more true about people who can not sit and contemplate.
I was staying at my dads place which is very remote. I was bored living there for a couple months. I started reading books on my kindle, which I rarely done before. I read 2 books and then started reading the Bible. I am now a practicing Catholic. Boredom is metal.
i was not bored until i see your video.
I'm gonna be honest !! An year ago before INFINITY WAR was released, in my summer vacations, I was succumbed to total boredom for a day and *seriously the whole story of INFINITY WAR was there in my mind with different characters !! That's the power of boredom. I have felt that !!*
Wow
Something similar for me, I played video games for a whole month every day for hours until the evening during my summer break. Before school, I had a moment of boredom when I realized I could have used some of that time wasted on instant gratification, learning new things.
@@erf2324 True man!!
I also learned to further appreciate TIME
Jesus is lord I urge EVERYONE reading this message to read the bible
The more you let yourself bored, the more you feel more
My greatest ideas was conceived when I was bored and alone...
how do u know,ur ideas was great?
That's when our mind works best.
What an enrichment! Very thought-provoking!
Love the content bro love to see more people like us encouraging others to do the best of the ability God bless
Not lonely but alone remember this line guys.
I already realised this but good to hear it confirmed.
Im watching your videos to expand my wellbeing, keep up the good content please. Need more of this on my homepage
I have never seen such an incredible video in my entire life.and pure Indian😂
Newton was so bored he discovered gravity 💀

thank you for this mind opening leson about boredom! Since a couple of months I was thinking, how could I improve myselfe, but I frogt to just be bored at times and always looked for something to do. But this just made me lose my own mind a bit again. So thank you.
As a person who thinks about becoming a writer in a near future, this video probably changed my life.
Thank you.

This video help to relise so many things❤
As a person who lived absolutely alone for 2 years, talking to people only a couple of hours per week and not using socials/playing video games, my productivity didn't skyrocket. I just sat alone, looking at the wall, not wanting to do anything. I had to force myself to go prepare food. I've gotten seriously depressed.
Now that I'm back to living with the family and usual things, I might be procrastinating a lot, but I'm much happier. At the end of the day, watching silly cat videos and laughing at things with others is worth more than greatness.
Sounds like a you problem bro
Thanks for this eye opener. I started to experience more boredom for the last month, and it has improved my productivity and towered my mind to new heights.
From my age 15-18 I was always bored 😑 now I’m 21 I don’t feel I have time to be being bored 😅
Because you're boring
deep
I often find myself feeling envious of people who just sit down and enjoy their own company and embrace boredom.
Even with nothing to do I come up with games and stuff in my head . To not be bored . Huge imagination. So I don’t think we’re “supposed” to be bored.
The main point is to not be scared to be in situations that seem boring. They may be the most important, the time when your mind can wonder all over the place like you have described for yourself.
It was a pleasure to watch this video and havw a great night sir.
Amazing video. Keep up the good work.
Appreciate it! Have a great day!
This was very good content.
Mindful never disappoints. Very underrated channel 👌🏻😊
woah thats what ive been thinking about for 2 years, now i know that im not alone
It then created individual experiential units of you and I, to occupy itself with the drama of life's expressions.
i dont have the time or energy to sink to your level you have a nice day
Totally the best video I got recommended this week, maybe even in a month, please continue my man X)
Really appreciate it! Working on making the new videos even much better. Hope you have a wonderful day!
Really appreciate it! Working on improving and posting even much better content.
