      How much does Harvard cost and what do you major in? I want to go to an Ivy League but I don’t think I can, plus I’m trying to go into forensic pathology so idk if it’s worth it anyways

      @@TobithepurpleduccI wanted to be a forensic pathologist at school. For me at the time, it seemed cool and easy with my character. My mother had doubts about my choice and asked her friend patholojist to take me with him to the morgue. It took me three times to go there and stand there for hours while the pathologists worked on the bodies and told me how the person had died. For the first time, everything seemed romantic to me. I came home with the pleasant impression that I was not nauseous, scared or disgusted at all. For the second time I wasn't as interested as the first time. Pathologists worked on the bodies in the same way as they did last time. For the third time, I finally thought about the identity of those people who are already lying on the table, not as a person, but as a body. And at that moment, I realized that having rejected all this romance of crime series, this work is about forgetting your empathy. I've always helped animals and people in need, so it was very difficult for me to forget that it was a living person and just do my job. A friend of my mother's told me that if you couldn't distinguish between this work and empathy, you'd just go crazy and drink like many of his colleagues, even though they hide it. I didn't give up on medicine, but I realized that it is worth thinking a thousand times about your character realistically, looking inside yourself. Now I'm an epidemiologist.

  • @talia6965

    I have to say, one of my biggest struggles when studying is trying to stay productive but then getting distracting, or even finding that my teacher has given me bonus work for midterms, and I don't donut, but everyone else does. So honestly, props to you.

    • @meiyosei78
      @meiyosei78 9 месяцев назад +68

      I don't know if it'll help you, but what helps me to get rid of distraction is by being hard on myself (for the lack of better words). If I have to study or get some things done, I'd do anything I can to block any source of 'dophamine inducer'. Put your phone on airplane mode and only turn on wifi/internet data if necessary, use site/app locker so you can't access anything else other than the necessary one/s.
      Remember don't reward yourself too early and too much. Self reward is good, but only do it after you get the big/important thing done and never over spoil yourself because it may make you lazy to do the next task. Definitely don't reward yourself before you get it done

    • @talia6965
      @talia6965 8 месяцев назад +27

      @@meiyosei78 That’s so interesting. I think out of those things, I’ll tend to reward myself way too often, like working for five minutes, then getting on my phone for ten, which eventually turns into me getting nothing more done. I really do appreciate this, I’ll definitely try this for any tests or midterms.

      @@ZainAli-r4b5n I think the biggest issue that people might point out is that it's obviously exaggerated and therefore feels insincere ("fake"). She calls the video "BRUTALLY REALISTIC" - nothing here is realistic. 4 hours of "studying", of which 1-2 hours were wasted for setting up, filming, taking videos of the library, drawing cute notes etc. Or "getting ready" at 5 a.m. with the effort of making a whole make-up tutorial video... And she has enough time to edit everything and post it on 3 different social media platforms + reply to comments. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that she has free time to do this, but it's obvious that not everything is true here. I'm personally not a fan of people who don't work smart. She doesn't have to be sleep deprived if she could manage her time better. But if social media is your job, I guess you don't have a choice.
      Anyways, this is certainly not your regular Harvard student life and people aren't stupid to not notice it. Just to make it clear, I just provided a possible explanation to why people might not be "supportive". I personally don't care and have no idea who that even is, but I think it's OK to call out "fake" content, it doesn't happen enough imo. Doesn't have anything to do with jealousy or toxicity. The first step is to drop social media if you want to be successful/happy.

Also Harvard has the lowest rating of freedom of speech as of this year found by American Legislative Exchange Council while investigating the past president (she “resigned” because she was found guilty of several plagiarisms as well as not protecting Jew students and allowing other students to protest that they should all die on campus because of the Israel and Palestinian stuff going on as well as creating a black only dorm and white dorm segregating students by skin). to everyone seeing this video: just letting you know that this is 100% a complete lie, coming from a fourth year undergraduate student who's pre-dental. if you truly want a 4.0, you need to mitigate burn out. and if she truly wakes up at 3 am or 5am everyday, does a full body workout, studies till she has no paper, and drinks caffeine like its water, she'd have burnt out and failed classes by her second semester in first year. just letting you know not to believe everything you see on the internet. she posts this because it gets her views, but it unfortunately puts out the unrealistic expectations to watchers like you who believe that this is a good thing. it is not. there are ways to achieve good grades and have a social life, while maintaining a healthy sleep schedule and diet. in fact, it is physically not possible to get good grades without the above descriptions. wish you the best of luck!

    • @Abigail-y7b

      She never said this is what she does everyday, she woke up at 3 because of nerves and decided to go to the gym because of the extra time she had (because she woke up at 3). You don’t know how far she was into her notebook before she ran out of paper, and even if it wasn’t that hard she said she did 2 practice quizzes. She needs to study this much because clearly she is nervous and doesn’t really trust herself on this topic because she woke up at 3 nervous about it. Also your point about the caffeine is stupid, you have absolutely no idea or way to know how much caffeine or water she drinks in a day. Sure posting something like this (her out and about all day and preparing for a big exam) will get more views than her sitting in her dorm all day, but just because one study method or lifestyle doesn’t work for you, doesn’t mean it won’t work for anyone else.

      @@coolchameleon21 I think my critique to be of value as it offers a different perspective on these type of things. It's not unique, but since the masses are influenced by this stuff, I might as well try to change their mind. I think uninformed opinions to be almost worthless, but I do think people have right to their informed opinions, and sharing it makes opportunities for interesting, insightful discussions. Although I do realize that a RUclips comment section is not really the right place for such a debate, as the absence of intellectuals here can be quite remarkable. I also think there is a difference between posting yourself and your ways online, often suggesting self-importance and arrogance, and giving your informed opinion on something, which is to add something, to generate discussion, to learn more about the subject and yourself. If I were to do this for mere likes, then it would be a matter of self-importance. Great question, thanks for commenting.

    I have a degree from a really-really prestigious university from Europe. And with that I got a good amount of student loan as well. My friend went to a pretty basic university. Now we are working for the same company. The only difference that she doesn’t have a huge debt to deal with…And I have to be honest. Here teachers were way friendlier and her education was pretty practice-oriented. Mine wasn’t. 🥲 All these Ivy League, high pedigree schools sounds nice and fancy. But I don’t think it’s worth the money and the mental stress.

      Tbh, I got someone to help me pick a uni, and they told me there isn't really a need to go to these prestigious ones, especially if you need student loans. They are usually that high because they have so much money put in research while other, as he told me, focus more on the students and to help them. Just do not go to a degree factory if you actually want to learn something. It is the best advice I have. Also, it seems that finding work gets harder and harder for fresh graduates regardless of the university they were in.
