When an engineer put his own signature on the engine, it is not about to produce an engine, it is about a responsibility, and confidence, and his working. AMG is absolutely worth to own one.
must be nice to work there. great pay i imagine. benefits. all kinds of perks. clean working environment. his signature on AMG engines. what a job that would be!
Well, his job is to do the same thing over and over again. I could imagine that the first time you do it it's wonderfull, but the second time is less enjoyable... And because it's production work, I don't see why salary would be really astonishing. The clean working environment and signature are really nice though!
I'm at school to become a truck mechanic, and for my school I have to work in a company 2 days a week. When I'm off school I also work there. As far as I can tell none of my days are the same.. There are always different problems to solve. But I think that you are right in some way, a lot of jobs consist of doing the same things. But building this engine is exactly the same. If he can build 2 or 3 engines a day he did the same routine 2 or 3 times a day, 5 days a week.. I think that many people would get bored by doing that..
A single, well trained, well compensated engine assembler that is responsible for the entire engine is a sign that the company knows what it is doing. Typically, companies that do this have the best manufacturing processes and highest quality of workmanship. Each engine often comes with the signature of the person that put it together signifying pride and care in workmanship. Not all companies work this way - only the best do.
+3DPeter if building a V12 biturbo engine (in this vid they show a V8) in a company there you only get in handpicked wasn't good enought for you, what do you want? 1 day 1 person builds 1 engine... If that wasn't challanging enought for you?
+Innocentforscratcher There are people who put washingmachines together every day, so nothing special about that, and these guys put engine parts together, so again, nothing special about that, and i would not want to do that day in day out, because it's the same shit every day, no matter if it's a v12 or whatever. Yeah it sure does look inpressive, but this is only a video and a moment in time, and not a life time job.
+Papi Chulo the workers are almost all equally qualified, they are the best assemblers in the world, they just picked the one that looks best on camera because this is not a requirement for the job. simple as that. I worked on a company like this before, a less than perfect employee like myself does not last long if he/she got the job in the first place.
+badr annasser He is wearing coloring contact lenses... the question is: Why would someone wear brown contacts? Maybe because in Germany blue is very mainstream?
Max J. Yes, I also wondered about that... but I'm fairly sure he is using colored contacts because you can notice the color radiating from the outer layer of the eye and not "inside" like normaly.
Absolutely brilliant. The care put into the every tiny step of the manufacturing process is just unbelievable. German goods have no rival with respect to quality, and with good reason - the workforce is similarly unrivaled.
Exile I have no idea why your cousin's transmission let go, but I do know that Merc's require much more attention than does a typical vehicle of an American or Japanese make, owing to their greater mechanical complexity. In many cases, premature component failure on German cars is due to neglected (i.e., failure to service the transmission as required) or improper maintenance (i.e., using cheap, generic automatic transmission fluid rather than the high-quality synthetic fluid required). If there was a manufacturing defect, the gearbox almost certainly would have failed within the new vehicle warranty period, and probably within the first 6-12 months it was on the road - Google "product bathtub curve" for more on that.
fps_evan Even if that's true (I don't know enough about Chinese cars to say), you're really not comparing apples to apples here. I do know that Chinese-made cars use technology which is decades obsolete by Western standards - rudimentary port fuel injection, three-speed plus overdrive gearboxes, no TCS or ABS, etc. In contrast, German cars are the most technologically sophisticated mass-produced vehicles in the world. All of this complexity results in very high performance and/or top-notch luxury; however, more complexity means more potential points of failure. It also means significantly higher maintenance costs. Premium products carry premium price tags, and with respect to durable goods like cars (all of which are an ongoing expense), this cost extends beyond the initial purchase price. All that said, the Germans don't dominate the high-end car market worldwide for no reason - they consistently beat the competition because their vehicles are consistently better than the competition.
fps_evan The Hellcat starts at $62.9k, while the M5 starts at $93.6k - and, unlike lesser BMW's, it actually includes a very impressive array of standard equipment. So, you're off by quite a lot on your math. Now, perhaps the Hellcat is unexpectedly brilliant, but every other Charger I've ever driven was absolute garbage, and if they've somehow managed to create a great car from such a rotten platform, it would be a first for the automotive industry. However, I have every reason to suspect that the Hellcat is merely another dodgy Dodge - albeit with a ridiculous engine.
The person assembling the AMG engine is awesome and should be highly valued at Mercedes!!! I am getting ready to buy a Mercedes and I hope he assembled my engine.
You did a lovely video. Thank you so much for sharing this. You will see, that in my youtube site, I love Mercedes - Benz and the marvellous Mercedes- AMGs.
Leo Georgiou no thats not what im saying. what im saying is that its a beautiful engine great machining and casting throughout the hole engine then they just botched the intake which is debatably the most important part of a high-performance engine
Marc Somers the intake in this particular engine is supposed to be like bead blasted and rouph in the inside to make air swirl and blend better with the fuel, it is a cryo-technology metal it is supposed to be like that, it is also enclosed in a box for sound insulation.
If you're referring to the intake manifold (with the velocity stacks for the individual cylinders) then its supposed to be like that. The intake manifold is aluminium with a ceramic coating. The intake manifold is enclosed in a plenum to provide the same breathing conditions for each cylinder and allow each cylinder to draw air from a singular air intake.
Can you imagine if they hand built engine in the us, cause all the labels would have homer simpson's signature on them. I swear that all the us cars that I've work on were built by him, they go like rockets and fall apart in stages.
Omg. . I've just read some of the other comments. . What the heck as ethnic race got to do with who actually builds these engines.. ?? This guy must know his shit to even get a job working for amg. . He is obviously a petrol head like the rest of us car nuts.. He has my respect that's for sure..
Sgt Balestrini might be a stupid question, but why do they use assembly lube in some builds? Why that when the engine is going to be running with engine oil anyway?
Jef Gulickx I believe it's because assembly lube provides more protection on a completely dry oil system where it may take much more time for oil to reach all the parts, especially since the oil pump needs to prime. But then again you expect the same conditions from a factory
Excellent video. This gentleman took his time, his assembly techniques were beyond solid and the engine itself is beautiful, a work of art. Very nice job.
Not to sound ignorant, but the skill level of this job is not as high as some prior commenters might believe. It's just a matter of putting all the pieces where they belong. He doesn't even have to know torque sequences, and values. All the tooling is preset, and he has a "build sheet" for all the parts. I'm sure he is proud of his work, and who wouldn't be, in his position. However, this is merely production line assembly, albeit more specialized than the average automotive engine assembly operations, as he completes the entire process alone. I mean sure, he has to know where stuff goes, but the tech in the repair facility, that has to diagnose and repair that engine when something goes wrong, has way more "skill" than this guy. JMHO
Give me a break. This guy is assembling engines. That's his job. He's not likely to be working at the local Benz dealer changing spark plugs. Likewise, everything is so precisely engineered, that by the time it reaches the assembly line stage, the technician isn't required to do that much calculating. You want the same product going out every time. Not a "custom" creation with differing specs per unit.
@fryebyrd301. Unless you got trade certifications and serious experience in auto repair and assembly to back it up, AMG is not gonna hire you to put its engines together, I promise you that. If you think they hired this guy off the street or fresh out of school to put together an engine for a $200K car all by himself, then you don't know what you're talking about. This guy is not only expected to do a perfect job, but he is trained to sense, troubleshoot, fix, and involve the right teams if anything is amiss with any engine.
Wow, what an awesome, monster of an engine! Nice touch that the guy who assembles it gets to 'sign' it - although he probably gets as bored with his job as do most of us it must be nice to think that such an amazing engine bears your name.
elenctra Just cause it's a Sri Lankan name doesn't mean hes Sri Lankan. Turkish people can also have similar names etc. Plus I could have sworn that I heard that he's Turkish before. Might be wrong, so don't quote me on that.
amazing video , must have taken him all day to build that even with all the automation. Thank you for showing us this, you make the best videos with no silly narration and music, thank you.
I watch this whole video, truly appreciating the work and talent that goes into building this marvelous engine and then I look at the comment section and can't even fathom why his race even matters..
Great video. I love the care mercedes takes in building their engines and cars. Yes they are higher in price but they are hand crafted. This fellow has been trained by the best and knows his job. Well done.
those guns have the torque set for them. also, he's one of few allowed to even build this engine. I think he knows a little bit more on how to make it than you
He's just a BOY! Couldn't be a day over 25! Where did he get the experience and knowledge to do that? How do some end up flipping burgers at 25 and others doing something like this? Maybe it's because of the fact that he isn't covered with tattoos and there are no ear buds in his ears!!! That's all you see in American kids of that age bracket! Final disappointment: Wouldn't it be nice to have heard that wonderful lump of German engineering explode into real time suck, squeeze, bang, blow? I bet it made an awesome noise. Imagine the satisfaction of putting one of those together.
i dont get it either, im 21 still flip burgers (shitty job but a job) and i go to college learning to be a mechanic and get my ase in what ever field i want. havent had any and i mean any luck getting into any line of automotive jobs. In fact ive had only 1 interveiw with AutoZone (which is a general parts store just in case your stores are named different) and had no luck. ive been in college for about 1 1/2 years i could take a ase cert test in the subjects ive studied but would need 2 years experience to get the patch blah blah blah. i honestly think i no more than this guy. im still young yes i no but ive got that kind of family where grandpa or dad would be working on a car in the garage and you would watch and help them with things when you were just a lil boy or girl. ive got a tattoo sure id like another or two. but that should be any reason why i couldnt get this kind of job right? their not gang related, unless the constellation zodiac sign for leo is a gang now. i guess this guy just had the "hook up" from a friend thats been in the company for 12 years. life favors those with hook ups. you cant do it yourself anymore i guess.
@ chefjimmie1 yea but graduating from a community college isn't really top notch for companies like BMW, Mercedes or any of the really sporty manufactures. sure if I went to maybe UTI for 4 years I could but even with the 4 years it doesn't guarantee that I do. It would be one heck of a job building these engines but it just looks so easily done that graduating from my current college would actually work. I'm working on associates degree just so i can say that i can do work on a vehicle (even thought i'm not done yet im able to work on transmissions to and not say that your blinker fluid needs changing and your tires air fluid in them. Its my dream to be a mechanic and get a good job in the field but I'm not chasing after these lines of jobs.
johalinay Judging by your attitude I think you'll go far. Just work hard and learn as much as you can from everyone that you can especially the old timers. Don't have the attitude that the world owes you anything. I see how the younger workers now a days seem to want things handed to them on a silver platter. I interview kids fresh out of culinary school green as a cucumber and they don't want to start in the pantry, they want MY job!
THE MEN BEHIND THE ENGINE: Sunday Johnathan. It takes AMG's Sivadas Inthrathas("I practised my signature a thousand times for the plague") over five hours to build an SLS Black engine. It's all done on a computerised workstation in a well-lit room that's pressurised to 1.5 atmospheres to stop dust getting in. How handbuilt is it? Well, although I did once see him using a hammer to wallop the end of the block, he has to scan every single tool and part before he uses it, and many bolts are torqued by machines. It's the computer, rather than him, that runs the show.
When an engineer put his own signature on the engine, it is not about to produce an engine, it is about a responsibility, and confidence, and his working. AMG is absolutely worth to own one.
That is bs because those engines also fail.
You can see this gentleman takes great pride in his work.
11.00 MINUTES FOR ENGINE PRODUCTION THAT WAS AMAZING MERCEDES!!!!!!!!!!
except they cut 95% of the steps.
Being a Mechanical engineer, this is my dream job. Thinking about having my name engraved in an engine like this makes my heart pound 10x faster
must be nice to work there. great pay i imagine. benefits. all kinds of perks. clean working environment. his signature on AMG engines. what a job that would be!
Well, his job is to do the same thing over and over again. I could imagine that the first time you do it it's wonderfull, but the second time is less enjoyable... is it ? was that her signature ? guess it is engineers

i think most people's jobs consist of doing the same thing over and over. i wouldn't mind working there

idk if he's an engineer but i know that the guy that puts the engine together is the one that puts his name on it

+August Riley lool truee! Obvs some people don't even get that
CandyHam at least if the engine fails we know who fucked up
Andre Matos lmaooooooo im crying !!!!
Andre Matos oh fuck 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
im dead
The fitting noises are awesome!!!
One man, one engine, that's awesome !
one nation,one leader
One God and one TV network... Lol

@villastrangiato Are you an engineer? You mean that this company has a GMP, right?
villastrangiato befire amg made them,i made all amg engines, without a plate with my name.that is nothing special.
villastrangiato you
Aston used to, sadly now just ship in assembled Merc engines (non amg)

Mr. Sivadas Inthrathas is the engine builder featured here. He's one of AMG's top engine builders. Hats off to him for such fine work!

LOLOL
hahahahahahahahahahahha
Ben Silva Its a joke dude.....chill.
Ben Silva Wut?
Ben Silva lol
Perfection at its finest /////AMG
I wouldn't say that. AMG isn't exactly know for reliability.
dam, I would love having this job.

Imagine that you would have to do exact the same shit every fucking day.
+3DPeter that's life in general
+Will Yu
no way. For me every day is a different day with new things to do.

that thing is huge
that's what she said ^^
Probably a 6.3L
Ben Ryder when it sas 6.3, i thought they were actually 6.2's
can somebody correct me if I'm wrong
joe schultz its a 6.2 yes
That's what she said?
beautiful craftsmanship.
skillful builder. nice video. amazingly quiet shop
We watched more of the guy's face than the engine !!!!! Is the director in love ?
Diversity politically correctness virtue signalling over compensation.
Can't feature a white man building engines.
You overthink this.
TheThafogil
lol nope. you see it everywhere in the media, adverts on tv, films now etc
A.H. Shukry
They even had him wearing makeup, how fucked up is that.
This guy must be one of their best employee in that factory that is why he's chosen for this video.
Good work mate.

Yes. You are free to speculate.
you are welcome.

Notice I said quality, not value. Value-wise, I think Ford has it. And how do you know he's not German?
Then how come my cousins Mercedes auto transmission crapped out at around 100k miles?
Exile I have no idea why your cousin's transmission let go, but I do know that Merc's require much more attention than does a typical vehicle of an American or Japanese make, owing to their greater mechanical complexity. fps_evan Even if that's true (I don't know enough about Chinese cars to say), you're really not comparing apples to apples here.

What's written on the top cover? Sivadas Inthrathas? Crafted in Germany.
Yes, he puts his own name and signature on the engine, he is a technician, and has, as I've seen, the right to put his name on a amg engine! NICE!
Achraf el Bouziri he has to put his name on the engine because he is responible for it
I didn't know that, so what happens if something happened to the engine?
It's so that if something happens to the Engine they know who to fire, lol.
OMG!!!!! This is one of the coolest job in the world. Assembling performance engine!!! Proud of you dude!!!!!
Title should be : A day in the life of Hassan. 🤔
I like the smile when he finally finished this beautiful engine and attached the sign with his name on it.
They build with engine oil instead of assembly lube?
Sgt Balestrini yes. maybe because the engine will start at the first try.
all factory seems to make it the same way
Mariano Gaston yea I guess that makes sense
Sgt Balestrini might be a stupid question, but why do they use assembly lube in some builds?

Сборка двигателя полностью в ручную что очень хорошо
Very nice. One person assembling one engine at a time.
7:15.......labourer bangs brand new cylinder head against the metal frame of the partition.
did see that too
yeah, good luck to whoever gets the car with that engine
its some strong ass metal that just hit the lil wall. dont see no damage really
you think the soft aluminum partition is gonna damage a hardened engine blocks mating surface? no.
It's the fact that it happened. You should apply for a job there, with that attitude.
THIS MAN IS GOOD GIVE HIM MORE MONEY I LOVE TO WATCH HIM WORK. THANKS
11.45 well spent......That's why I drive an AMG.

Did anyone notice that no gasket was used between the two engine parts?
+aky19832001 there was a glue like seal
Right, there using rtv gasket maker. Works just as good as a regular gasket.
good eye they totally fucked up all their engines YOU NEED TO TELL THEM IMMEDIATELY
ElTurbinado I did. I was made vice president of that plant. stop by for a tour.
NICE GIG!
Nice slow pace of work so we don’t get too tired !
Made in India?
Fredrik Björklund
So what?!!
Fredrik Björklund the guy may be from Sri Lanka... Lots of them in Germany
Patrick Achord but we have a Mercedes factory here in India but not sure about Sri Lanka
Watching a beast in the making
Gah! I can't believe he didn't fire it up! I waited the whole video to hear the beast come to life. So disappointed.
Well done young man. A work of art. Loved it.
so its indian guy that's work hard in the factory. the germans just talking and making jokes.

Just cause it's a Sri Lankan name doesn't mean hes Sri Lankan. Turkish people can also have similar names etc. Plus I could have sworn that I heard that he's Turkish before. Might be wrong, so don't quote me on that.
The Germans are the engineers and designers.
amazing video , must have taken him all day to build that even with all the automation. Thank you for showing us this, you make the best videos with no silly narration and music, thank you.
4:28 illuminati confirmed (color contact lens? wtf)
Thats so weird! That eye contact lens ... (o.O)
I watch this whole video, truly appreciating the work and talent that goes into building this marvelous engine and then I look at the comment section and can't even fathom why his race even matters..
That guy has a weird set of eyes...if I was a kid I'd be scared
you just fucking racist!
stop racist!!
Why don't you just shut up.why don't you look at your self lately.
Neo S How the hell does that make me racist exactly?
He does have weird eyes, it's not racist, get over it.
Great video. I love the care mercedes takes in building their engines and cars. Yes they are higher in price but they are hand crafted. This fellow has been trained by the best and knows his job. Well done.
I didn't see one single screw or bolt getting precisely torqued
Maybe the machine he used to torque them down is pre-programmed?
+Ronnie Shih this is obviously edited, it doesn't take 20mins to build a engine
those guns have the torque set for them. also, he's one of few allowed to even build this engine. I think he knows a little bit more on how to make it than you
Dude the impact guns have a preset torque value. Stop pretending you know anything about engineering.
Looks like fun putting together a V8 engine.
Please shut up. Your ruining the video lol judgemental fucktard
i dont get it either, im 21 still flip burgers (shitty job but a job) and i go to college learning to be a mechanic and get my ase in what ever field i want. havent had any and i mean any luck getting into any line of automotive jobs. In fact ive had only 1 interveiw with AutoZone (which is a general parts store just in case your stores are named different) and had no luck. ive been in college for about 1 1/2 years i could take a ase cert test in the subjects ive studied but would need 2 years experience to get the patch blah blah blah. i honestly think i no more than this guy. im still young yes i no but ive got that kind of family where grandpa or dad would be working on a car in the garage and you would watch and help them with things when you were just a lil boy or girl. ive got a tattoo sure id like another or two. but that should be any reason why i couldnt get this kind of job right? their not gang related, unless the constellation zodiac sign for leo is a gang now. i guess this guy just had the "hook up" from a friend thats been in the company for 12 years. life favors those with hook ups. you cant do it yourself anymore i guess.
johalinay Maybe when you gradamatate you can get a job with Koenigsegg building the One:1
Amazing. A slight smirk of accomplishment at the end there. Bravo 👏
4:27 He cures the liquid gasket with his laser eyes.
I love Mercedes because they make perfect cars with no flaws
To all those people complaining about an Indian guy building a German engine, you can always buy a car from your own countries if you don't like it??
Only they complain, who in their heads are 50 years behind, and who can never ever afford an engine like this. The rest progress forward.
This guy has one of the coolest jobs on the planet. I can’t tell if he’s bored or just that focused...
It's a beauty! Love how one man build one engine all the way through finish
