I have the a7IV and I'm just getting into editing and color grading. Are there any free LUT's that are worth it or should i just get a pack... also is there a difference between color grading and using a LUT?
You can get the free lut from Sony on their website. Really it’s hard to explain the difference, but think if it as the lut is doing the work you. There are luts that bring your log footage or flat footage to a standard 709 look (which is what this video is about). Also there are creative luts which can give you a “color grade”. All of this can be done manually within your editing software, but the luts make it quicker and easier if you aren’t an experienced colorist

@@darpinomedia9619 I have the phantom luts as well .. To me it's very color accurate.. I shoot real estate so I'm looking for color accuracy .. It looks really good for being so simple ..
@@alansarpy Yea for sure. I like that the phantom lut isn’t overly aggressive so you can easily add to the grade. But it’s good enough to just throw the lut on and get a good look!

I think I like the gamut more as a starting point. CAM is the most saturated and unnatural one followed by the phantom.

Fx30. I have both. And I choose the fx30 for video Everytime. Due to the ergonomics and video centric interface 🎉
Premier Pro has a s Log to Rec 709 automatic converter... I just found it looking in the menu ..
I’ll have to check that out. But I rarely like what the program does by default
