Bob, your instruction is very professional. It's hard to miss anything here. It took me a little longer than on your film, but I did and after showing it on my backyard in half an hour, one is already inside and two next to it. Thanks from Sydney
Bob you bloody legend, awesome, easy to build cage, only struggled with instructions a few times but otherwise all good. I'm only 14 but I managed to build this! WE LOVE YOU BOB.
Made one last Friday but used 1/2" bird-wire because I didn't look at the requirements before purchasing the wire. Set trap up Saturday pm and caught a rat Sunday, 2 indian mynas on Monday, a Blackbird on Tuesday, rain Wed, and 4 mynas today. Works a treat. About 64 mynas left in the flock to catch yet.
If anyone out there is good at making these traps then please sell them at markets. The more people with traps the better and this would raise awareness.
On behalf of the native birds in my area THANK YOU SOO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS. I made one yesterday with your really- easy- to- understand plans, put it out this morning and have already got 3 of the buggers!! just one thing - the tuna can for water is too light and in their panicking they have knocked it over and so I would advise using something heavier or fix the tin somehow - otherwise its bloody brilliant... my yard will soon be minus mynas.
This is a great video -- I wish I'd seen this before using the paper instructions I downloaded, so much simpler to assemble! Hopefully I can catch a load of those pests now!

We are in a garbage bag pumping in trillions of tonnes of exhaust and we are still debating wether or not we should make efforts to look after our world 😕 Probs doing these pesky birds a favor 😅
Great video. I've noticed a couple pairs of these Myans around my rural property, so keen to trap and dispose of them. I have breeding pairs of Willy Wag Tails that spend to much time trying to chase away the Indian Myna's. Thanks for sharing.
Took a couple of hours to build but had it done before midday. Used chook pellets as i was out of dog food and got one in a couple of hours. It being in there seemed to attract other birds but it was panicking and the other birds ended up leaving their mate at dusk. Looks like I’ll get them tomorrow.
Myna birds are very delicious, just like quail... We paid $3,50c a bird at a restaurant, and now we trap and cook our own... I recommend that myna traps should come with myna bird recipes.
Nothing, except it's own stupidity. But if one does manage to figure that out that bird will come back over and over to take the food and leave. You can pretty easily attach one way swinging doors on the entrances and there is no chance of escape then.
I watched one escape out the funnel,,too slow to stop it. That bird then became like a guard and stopped other birds going in the trap.(pretty sure it was the same bird, weird coincidence otherwise). I've got 54 birds in under a year. HAPPY.
Thanks Bob, will make the trap… now for the important part, how do most ensure the one way trip to visit their bird god, that meets all the rules the RSPA set.
Made it. Oh wow it was a challenge (for me!) but done 😁. Other videos talk about the trapping “rules”. Set at night, etc, don’t let them see. They are a smart bird 😎. Anyone here have expertise with that side of it? I’d love to hear others’ tricks and tips. My cat killed one a couple of years back and every breeding season they go him. They don’t forget . . My local council I wish would go hard like they did in Canberra. Any info on Aus Councils that take their destruction as seriously? Any information folk can share I’d be grateful 👍
The diagram for Part D has a minor error - the external entrance to the funnel is shown as 5 squares high when it should be 4 high (see the bottom left and right of Part H.) I can't believe how effective this trap is - 5 Mynas in two days. Thank you!
I am sure it wouldn't kill you but they eat our garbage as part of their diet so... I doubt it will be a delicacy. Also everyone you know will think you are f***ing crazy. Also they carry deseases a lot of the time that cause skin conditions from handling them and who knows what else they have.
You're a legend mate!! 👍 Thank-you Bob. I'm so eager to make my trap(s) and join in the Aussie crusade of fighting for our beautiful native bird life and helping to one day hopefully fully exterminate these introduced flying vermin assassins 🤮 that kill our native birds. 😰
Great cheap trap. I have caught many Myna's Only down side, The birds can go back to the trap section, and, I did see one bird look back up the funnel and fly away. I caught it latter in my cat trap. It found the way out when I approached the trap, it put it's head down for a sec and saw the opening and made a run for it!🤬
After caught them what did you do to them May I ask ? Recently I got big problems with them 🥲 They went under the roof and made a lot of noise.. Poops every where on the bbq area my 5yrs old boy very upset after school he can’t play around coz very messy 🥲 I need some tips to keep them away from backyard Cheers ..!!!✌️
This is the very best detailed construction of the myna trap I have ever seen. Thank you so much!!!
Followed your detailed video and my trap was perfect. Caught two birds immediately. Thank you.

Cook the myna birds, and throw the blackbirds and the rats in the compost bin.

Try punching a hole or 2 in the bottom of the can, wire to base of trap, use silicon to make water tight again.
Cable tie or use tie wire
Why the need for water? Are they not going to be put down anyway?
Definitely will watch this agin and give it a go. Thanks for taking the time to put it all together and sharing to the public!

Thanks guys, always a pleasure to learn something new from those that actually know what they are doing.
I built one of these traps on Saturday. By Monday evening I had caught 5 Mynahs. At this rate I will decimate the population.
What food are you using. Mine have no interest in going into the trap 😢
@@ibsn87 I have had success with dry dog food and also apple.

It looks great. Is there a cutting list anywhere?
Thanks, Big Bob, made your trap to your plans and it works great, to date have trapped 7 birds in 6 days.
Great step by step by far best Myan trap how to make it 2 days & caught 6 of them

I'll make one tomorrow. Thanks for the advice.
Bit of an update. My trap works great and let's just say that I don't need to buy meat anymore.
Hi mate. Why can’t the birds get back out from that first hole they enter?
How do I dispatch the birds once I've caught them?
Sally Greenaway put them in a plastic bag and they will go to sleep first before the Croke

Where in Australia did you ever eat mynabirds at a restaurant? Sounds like bullshit
Just made 1 of these took me about 3hrs. Have got 3 in the trap at midday. Happy i didnt spend hundreds on a trap
May be a dumb question but what stops the bird from leaving through the entrance funnel after it walks in?

Do they sell long legs at any hardware stores? 😅🇦🇺
Are you showing mm or in please

What is one of them worth to hard working fella like yourself?

No worries mate I see now that your'e showing squares as a measurement
Just made one. I put the central partition in upside down. Doh! Fixed now, and I'm waiting. Suddenly the mynas have all left the area. No... wait...
Awesome.
I do not want to know peoples opinions just facts ,.... are these birds safe for humans to eat ?
I wondered the same question. I'm sure they're safe, but there wouldn't be much meat.
I am sure it wouldn't kill you but they eat our garbage as part of their diet so... I doubt it will be a delicacy. Also everyone you know will think you are f***ing crazy.

Time to make one of these beauties. Indian mynas driving me nuts and harassing the native birds on our block.

Also works on for Toads and Rats at night.
Problem is the rat is alive🤢🤢
I’ve been worried for a long time now I know I can do something about it they drive me nuts
And chase the rainbow lorikeets away
