I was going to put a wire around the pin on the inner side of bracket with a key ring and strap…and try that. If not your idea is good. What size drill bit did you use? The pin on my 2016 is really small in diameter.
Sorry, the idea that Ford didn't give enough of a crap to set up the latch so their customers could access that area is BS. For what these trucks cost, we customers shouldn't have to fight with that latch and then spend more money on aftermarket parts just to get behind the seat. There's no reason they couldn't install that set up at the factory, especially considering the price of each vehicle.
Sweet! Great video, and just got the latch. Honestly can’t believe how inexpensive it was and how easy it was to install... after watching your video. Thanks and have a great day
I believe the latch is for both assembly AND service purposes. I can imagine that the liability associated with the seatback NOT locking in the back position would be huge especially considering the seat was designed to utilize child car seats. If a car seat was attached but for some reason the seatback wasn't locked shut... it could mean lawsuits and recalls $$$. I bought one of these latch releases and my seat back has to be SLAMMED back hard in order for it to lock :( Did you experience this at all on the line (not shutting without slamming)?
bgitchelful Thanks for the feedback! I noticed that around 9:55 in the video, your seatback just snapped shut easily without lifting the lower seat. Mine does not do that. I will try to lift the seat a bit and see if it helps though. Thanks!
If a car seat is installed it stops the seat back from folding. Try it it won't fold because the car seat it in the way. I can see no liability problems.
As for you having to slam it to lock another install video mentioned to leave a little play when tightening it down because it would cause that. I’ll see if I can find it.
I just drilled a hole in the pin, inserted a sturdy key ring, and used some black strap off an old tie down. Woks great!

What position should the pin on the frame of the truck be in? Lowest/middle/hi
Good video. I have the same truck with the V6 EcoBoost engine.

I noticed that you need to lift the bottom seat part first before you can lock the back. After I lifted the seat it popped in no problem.
