Just checked mine now, SO mine is the exact same as yours, teeth look ok on the gears but I bet thats why I am smoking and pump timing is off all from chain slack

hi did you change the things or not yet? i also have an annoying sound that appears when engine is at running temperature and left at idle . i had such a timing chain set-up and it disintegrated as it skipped a tooth and many mechanics said it was ok. after some months the timing chain fell apart and i decided to go for the traditional type tensioner cos that has a ratchet that helps the chain remain taut even without oil pressure from engine.

Hi i have the same problem, you put a new traditional tensor or any new mechanism as the video show? thanks.

Hi mate. I have a 5bg Diesel like yours with the later style chain tensioner. Some people have told me that this style is not sutable for the Diesel. After completing this job have you had any issues? Many thanks, Ed.

Hello Ed.... my engine has covered about 1,000 miles since rebuilding it without any problems. But since then I have rebuilt a second 5 bearing diesel and I opted for the stronger looking earlier chain tensioner that has a sprocket instead of the rubbing pad on the later one
