You made those 4 bolts look way too easy. I seem to remember needing a bunch of extensions to reach the top right nut by going overtop of the J-pipe... But i also only had it on jackstands, not a lift, so maybe that was the difference. Thanks for the videos.
I currently have a mishimoto intake, boomba bpv, remark catback and ill be getting this DP likely....I have a cocktail of parts from different places so ill need a pro tune lol but I wonder what it will put out with an E30 protune
To anyone doing this on their own I *highly* recommend taking a blowtorch to those bolts before attempting to remove them. You will save yourself from a huge headache. Obviously this gets things insanely hot so be careful.
I've done these J-pipes multiple times now and the only thing they need is a combo of a good soak of PB Blaster 18-24 hours before removal and a good breaker bar w/extensions.
Grimmspeed J-pipe and their turbo inlet are next on my list. Plus an ebcs. You make this look way too easy lol. Most people have to replace the turbo studs cuz they corroded to shit 😆. I know im gonna have to!
Great install video. My car only has an axle back and if I install a mid pipe + jpipe, is there a OTS tune that I can use from Cobb? I know there is stage 1 (big sf) and stage 2 but is there one just for a TBE?
If you have the the cobb intake and the Cobb jpipe you should be able to run the same tune with a catback or stockmidpipe and axlebacks. OTS tune is only for temporary use Until you can get tuned.
Cobb has stage 1(bone stock), stage 1+(just an intake), Stage 2(just turbo back exhaust) and Stage 2+(intake and turbo back exhaust). I second Jared that they are more for temporary use.
Hey, I’ve got a 2015 wrx cvt that I’d love to install a j pipe on, but after a decent amount of research, I can’t find anyone that offers a stage 2 tune for it. Looks to me like my only option is an e-tune or a pro tune, but I don’t want to spend over $300 on a tune if there is an ots stage 2 tune out there. Any advice?
@@timpala55 that’s not my point. If there is an ots tune for a cvt, I’d like to start with that instead of jumping to a pro tune. If it comes down to it, Of course I’m going to get a tune however much it costs.
This install was a bitch lol. I got lucky sprayed it and left it over a period of 5 days as I installed the intake, fmic, aos, tgv deletes, etc. by then i got all 4 out and 2 of them took the studs with them in one piece 😩🤘
This was the worst part I installed on my 16 wrx. I broke 3 bolts even after spraying the shit out of them and everything else I looked up on youtube. Had to take it to a machine shop to get the bolts out. Took a weeks worth of wait/work to install it. This happened twice, when I did the j-pipe and I was dumb enough to not do the headers and so it happened then also. I can't believe they make it this hard. It was incredibly frustrating to the point, I almost sold my car. Working on your car should not piss you off and make you wanna sell it. Shame on them for making a car famous for modding, this hard to mod. Had problems with the intercooler too.
It was pretty easy for me, what I did to remove it easily is Leave the car running for 10 min, turn it off Spray a generous amount of wd 40 on the bolts in the j pipe Wait 15 minutes Tighten the bolts like 5 sounds the loosen the bolt, try to crack it like that. Don't use a breaker bar, because you will break it. Rinse and repeat.
The power difference is negligible at best if existant at all... also when you reach full bolt ons overboosting and running out of fuel is a real problem leading to the engine going boom. Most tuners reccomend a catted jpipe for this reason. More info in Phatbotti's FAQ.

I have a lift and I still had to do it your way lol
Yes over the top is easiest. This is also a brand new car basically lol. It's NEVER this easy. Most people have to replace the studs in the turbo.
I would say 345 HP and 350 torque (probably could get 365 torque but I imagine they will limit it). Excited to see what it des on the Dyno!!
Yoooo...cant wait to hear that original rumble u got with the Tomei UEL headers with this new J Pipe bro..keep up the excellent work....
You make this look so simple! I wish I could do this to by Blu-baru… I’m sure it’ll sound awesome after the tune
Sell it then.
@@remissiveslave Need a hug?
Why ain’t yo doing the vids? Is he good?
342HP is my guess! Can’t wait for the tune
Does that guy even know what he's doing?
In this video Where is the catalyst. Maybe you don't have it, what happens if you don't have it?.. tysm
Its a subaru a simple J pipe will only bump up about 12 - 20 hP gain + quicker spool no more than 280whp -300 whp
The FA makes a lot more power per mod than the EJ does.
305hp, great install kev!!!
So we don’t have to put the heat shield back on?
Good tutorial.
I have the turbo xs catted j pipe installed on my wrx would highly recommend the sound is great

Why you guys closed and order that I never got shipped and ignore my emails and phone call
Is a little anti size on your bung recommended 👍✌️
So my top right bolt on the turbo stripped. And it's tight on there. Any recommendations and getting it off....
Nice! Looking forward to what this car builds to!
Does this j pipe match up with the stock mid pipe? Do you need extra parts to make them fit? Like a donut gasket
Update: I ended up buying the grimmspeed adapter just to be safe and installed it. Worked fine.
Really want to get those tomei uel headers. Ill buy the one installed if you guys decide to change it
So what’s the loudest J pipe out there then? I’m trying to get one but there’s so many brands
I wanna bet 324!! Excited to see more videos!!!
What gasket did you use for downpipe to catback? Because my grimmspeed gasket don’t work it leaks please reply
Are you selling your catless j pipe for the blue wrx u took it off of ?
Do you need to tune for this mod?
Another awesome video
Will this pipe be a good to pair with the invidia r400?
Grimmspeed J-pipe and their turbo inlet are next on my list. Plus an ebcs.

@@garrettsnyder6857 what did you end up doing? Looking at this currently as well
Can you use an after market J pipe with a stock cat back?
Absolutely!
Im guessing like 332 hp ??
Watching that upper right stud break free that easy is almost porn
Where can I find a catless J Pipe??
Muffler shop just get one fabbed it's cheaper as long as it's done right
No before and after SoundClips? FAIL
After tuning, I feel like it will make 335HP/320TQ
What kind of dyno is it going on?
On 93? 295whp/332tq
Is the j pipe the same as a down pipe?
Yes
293hp/285tq depending on the dyno, with a decent tune. Get the Grimmspeed replacement studs/nuts kit for the turbine housing.
Does this need a tune ?
Absolutely!
329 Hp. I want the old j-pipe!
I’m thinking around 294 whp / 317 wtq

How many miles on the car?
“They” didn’t make it hard. That’s just common for exhaust work because of how much heat it’s all exposed to
@@jryker28 Oh is that right? First time I modded a non mustang lol
