Omg is your hair grey? You are about the most beautiful grey haired woman I have seen. There is hope I am no longer scared to go grey. Your makeup is natural and amazing.
My hair is naturally gray :) And I absolutely love it! Truly the best decision I have made for my hair was to stop coloring it. I highly recommend anyone ready to take the leap to do it!
I have greasy skin all day everyday, Paula's choice skin care is the only one that does anything for me. I love their super thin consistency products. Im glad this worked so well for you. I can't wait to try it. Im currently using the skin balancing kit and it has truly changed my life.
I use probably about 4-5 for my face... Was using my first bottle morning and night and was also sometimes using more to also do my neck although not as consistently. Lasted over 2 months I believe.
Really love your review! I just received mine today and I'm so freakin excited! I didn't think twice when I bought this product because I also have an extremely oily skin. Thank you so so much!
I ordered my bottle a few days ago! I've been using the niacinamide from the ordinary. I love the results for my pores and oil production, but I found if I used it in the morning it would cause my make up to ball up. I'm excited for this one!!
I'm glad you found something that works on the oil. My mom jumped a mile in the air when she discovered that Nivea blue tin when I was 3 (well it was "in the family" for a long time already). I've been using it that long (but I'm extremely dry, the total opposite of you). I'm almost 48. ;)
"If you can harvest this, it can power a country" 🤣🤣🤣... i have tried Paula's Choice and those that i have tried, my favorite is the Skin Recovery Suncreen.
Just about finished with my 20th or so of 10%, so I’ll be ordering this one very soon. I’ve been watching their sale offerings deciding when best to get it. I’ve got nothing but time these days, so...
I just blind bought this and now watching your review. I was going to get the 10% booster then I thought wow why not get the 20% what do I have to lose? By the way you are freaking gorgeous😍
About half way through mine and I've had to back off to every few nights use because I have dry skin (51 yrs old & use Retin-a) and found it wayyy too drying. 😔 Love, love Paula's choice but this is probably not a repurchase for me. I think like you said, if your skin type is very oily, this might be great for you but for dry skin, not so much.😅
Thanks for this review! I would find it impossible to just use one brand of skincare, my skin has such changing needs depending on the weather and what's going on in my life that I need to mix and match all the time.
Same. Plus it's fun to mix and match to see what really produces the best results. I love testing out different combinations of skincare. It's lead to some great results for me :)
I can so relate!!! Aside from my enlarged pores and how so annoying it is to have oily skin, it keeps us younger longer lol..I'm 55+ and still look like 40-ish!😁I would love to try it for my pores though!👍
So true! I am thankful to have skin that looks a few years younger than I actually am. Soaking up that oil is annoying though lol! You win some, you loose some I suppose ;)
It's interesting about the reduced oil production, though I know niacinamide is supposed to be very balancing. I haven't tried the PC versions of niacinamide as I have very dry/sensitive skin and find the Inkey list one works fairly well for me. When in a product with zinc niacinamide serums are more suited to oily skin as (at least for me), the zinc can be drying/irritating. I am tempted to try the 20% as it has soothing/hydrating ingredients incorporated. Despite being dry skinned, aging causes stretched pores on my nose and both side of my cheeks near my nose. I also have slightly stubborn redness (the curse of fair fragile skin) which niacinamide can be beneficial for. A combination of niacinamide and tretinoin have improved the texture of my skin, my pores have tightened up to an extent and although still visible they are improved. Perhaps trying the 20% will give enhanced results in that area. I haven't experienced the flushing people talk about with niacinamide and haven't noticed any other adverse effects from it on my skin. It seems to be an ingredient my skin likes tbh. Many thanks for the review. Despite us having different requirements niacinamide can be beneficial for all skin types and I will try to acquire a sample or trial size (if possible), prior to buying a full size. This is to check it's not too potent for my sensitive skin. Be well and best wishes.
I have never had the flushing either but I think my skin might be leather as not much affects it lol. The texture of this one would allow it to easily be applied to specific areas. It's a much thicker serum style versus the liquid of the 10%.
If you're super interested in what my skin looks like without makeup you can check out my foundation tutorial from last week ;) Also, I don't edit my videos in any kind of way so I can't edit in pictures or footage. Sorry, just not one of those fancy RUclipsrs.
Thank you for the detailed review of this product. Please share with us what other Paula's Choice products you used with it. I also ordered CLINICAL 0.3% Retinol + 2% Bakuchiol Treatment but I am not sure if I should wait to use it later!
When I run out of the Good Molecules Niacinamide serum, which I think is excellent and is highly rated on Beautypedia, I'll buy this. I want it for sun damage.
The good molecules is a decent inexpensive option - my favorite of the less expensive one's I have tried. But this one is MUCH superior for sure for my skin. I hope you like it when you try it!
You look SO much like my sister in law I had to show this to my husband. Same mannerisms even. Creepy. Everyone has a doppelganger I guess. Except her nose isn't as snatched 👍
Paula Choice 15% entire site free shipping...i just ordered the 20% niacinamide..I'm excited to try it..wanted let you know if you want a back up😁I'll let you know how i do with it. thanks😊
Layers beautifully. It's not oily or greasy. Absorbs quickly and easily into the skin. No stickiness either. Honestly, I use it every single day and have been through several bottles since this review. It's a must in my routine.
Hi! I have never used niacinimide but have heard remarkable things about it, would you recommend I start with a lower grade before using Paula’s Choice 20% niacinimide?
How many drops of the niacinamide 20% do you use at a time. I have been using it once a day at night on my face neck and décolleté but I’m not sure if I might be using too much. I tried the inky list brand and it didn’t work very well at all
I use about the bottom quarter of the dropper, which is probably still too much lol. But I am able to take it down on to my neck and décolletage that way. :)
I’m 44 I have been suffering from a lot of blackheads and some Mika I just saw my Estitician and she did a really good treatment on it would this product and the b h a 9 will help this along with my daily skin care💕
YES, if you suffer from blackheads the BHA 9 would be amazing! And I think the 20% Niacinamide would help a lot (make sure you think your skin could handle the 20% first - if not, start with their 10% then scale up after that goes smoothly). Those are the two things that cleared my blackheads and reduced my pores the most. Amazing products!
I would suggest easing into it. Don't use it every night to start out with. You may want a bit more moisturizer in the beginning. But it does contain some nice hydrating ingredients in the formula :)
I have dry skin with hyper pigmentation. My pores are okay. Would like to try this out for my hyper pigmentation. Do you think it will help, or be bad for my dry my skin?
If you are dry this is probably not the best fit for you. I have heard dry skin people say that this dries them out too much. I think you should start out with 10% to be totally honest. And if that is too strong you can find even lower % from places like Cos de Baha for example. Good luck!
I have never used them. I know there are people who rave about them but I guess I was never convinced lol. I do think at some point I will try their vitamin c as I've heard the best things about it.
Can you please tell me what the color should be? I think mine is expired... It's a clear golden color and feels very sticky on my skin with almost a fish like scent 🥴
It is a light gold color. It should not smell like fish. There is a slight scent but I would not call it fishy. You should reach out to Paula’s Choice. They stand behind their products.
I feel like I've heard before that some people can't tolerate Niacinimide. Do you know if there is anyone who shouldn't use this product? I am not EXTREMELY oily, but I am tzone oily for sure with some dryness from acne products. My forehead is textured and it really bothers me- it looks like an orange peel. The sides of my nose as well but my forehead area is what bothers me. Should this only be used on those areas- or everywhere? Should I start with 10% or 20% 🤔? Thank you!
Honestly I think you need to try it to see if it's a good fit for your skin. I would start with 10% especially if you think you might have sensitive skin. I would also suggest on focusing it on your areas of concern only for now. I truthfully cannot give you any solid advice as I only know what has worked for my skin.
I've got oil pumping like you have..I've said I can bottle it and sell it to grease a car!! Lol.. I'm a guy who does care about my skin and pore shrinkage. Thanks! Stay well! Your skin looks amazing; having watched your vids in ages - you had perfect skin before but even on my phone I can see the flawless looking skin. I'm buying asap...price is worth it
If you don't receive PR how are we supposed to know how products work? I want to spend my money wisely and appreciate honest opinions!! Thank you, Melanie.
Shelley Carlson shop at a place with a generous return policy. Nordstrom is definitely an option. Also, consider verifying with an ingredients dictionary (paula’s choice has one). Finally, there are several RUclips people that focus on ingredients and what it can do - off the top of my head try searching for Jen Luv, Hiram (he lives in Hawaii), Penn Smith. All good resources in addition to Melanie.
Paula's Choice has amazing BHA products and those are a must for me. If you are having really good luck with good genes, stick with that. I love it personally but am currently out so I am using some back up acids from other brands right now.
Awesome!! I’ve been using the Ordinary’s for about 2 years...so you think I could transition to this one without an issue or should I first use the PC 10% first? Thank you and stay healthy and safe!!!! 💜💜💜💜
I would think so. I personally was not able to use the ordinary one for long enough as it made me break out pretty badly. But if you have had good luck with it, I think this is worth a try.
Are you using a BHA to treat your blackheads? I would suggest starting there and then going in with Niacinamide to help keep the pores tightened. One thing I had to do before anything else was clear up my existing blackheads. It takes a little time but you can also go in to see an aesthetician to help with removal and then keep them clean with a good solid BHA. Don't try to "dig" them out yourself. You can cause scarring and damage the skin.
That is actually not the case. I had thought this for quite some time but it turns out that is false. You can use them together. However some people are sensitive to too many actives so be careful about what you mix together based on your skin type. You can read more about it here: www.paulaschoice.com/expert-advice/skincare-advice/myths/can-niacinamide-and-vitamin-c-be-used-together.html
Hi! Since you seem to know your PC products I would like your opinion...I have oily but sensitive, somewhat dehydrated skin. I’ve also never used Niacinamide before. Do you think I should start with the 10% or go right to the 20% also I wanted to purchase the BHA 9 and wonder how you would use both items together. Thanks so much!
I would start with the 10%. I want to caution you with the BHA 9 that it's pretty strong and may irritate your sensitive skin. I would stick with the 2% liquid and see how you do with that. Then maybe move up. I always use my niacinamide in the morning and BHA at night. So I don't really use them together except rarely when I use Niacinamide at night. I never have any reaction between the two but I DO NOT have sensitive skin. I would space your treatments.
Do not mix lactic acid and niacinamide. Use one or the other because it will burn. So I use my niacinamide in the morning with a sun screen and my Sunday Riley at night. I learned this the hard way.

Absolutely. Literally every morning. It’s frequently in my beauty empties, in fact usually every other month as 1 bottle usually lasts me 2 months. I will not be without it.
I totally agree this product is a must have!!! I did notice less oil, my skin looks better but also the fine lines around my eyes are almost gone.
I'm so glad to hear you love it as well! Total game changer for the oil
I am with you, this is “holy grail” status for sure!!!
I love this product - I have dry skin and PC 20% niacinamide has improvise skin texture and firmness - for me as well - a go to product for sure!
I'm so glad to hear that Ann! I can't wait for my new bottle to show up! I'm in love
