Glorious wake up surprise on a very cold winter's morning in Sydney. I've long been a fan of the great Maurice Durufle, a 20th C virtuoso composer and player. He primarily taught in Paris, and only composed a mere handful of works, but he was a perfectionist, and each was a gem. This piece showcases the power and penetration of the mighty church pipe organ, the king of instruments. A virtuoso composition played by a virtuoso - it doesn't get much better than this. I'm still shaking as I head to my first coffee of the day. Bravo Gert.
So beautifully played Gert. This is a new composer for me. I enjoy watching Gert cross over his hands when he plays, so talented. Great assistance Dick. A great surprise today for all of us music fans.

great to see Gert discovering and performing one of the great 20th century organ pieces ,a tribute to Jehan Alain -who had he not died fighting inWW2 , would have been one of the greatest 20th century french composers . he was 29 - have look at his output before his death. Durufle was a friend and a great organist himself
