@@dkskcjfjswwwwwws413 I think he just called it a "her" because Cremator technically has no gender. I wish they’ve kept the combine assassin or the cremator, they are my favorite cut enemies, too sad they cut them. Also congrats to the artists featured in this video for their awesome artwork!
I think with the assassins, the issue might have been that we’re supposed to believe the overwatch soldiers to have been converted to that form from both male and female humans, and this illusion would be shattered by the presence of such a clearly female form of overwatch unit. They also function best in a very specific kind of environment (closed arena settings with boxes) that isn’t in abundance in HL2. As for cremators, they are very cool, but I don’t think (what amounts to) a slow-moving short-range turret adds anything interesting to the gameplay. They would also be annoying in the street war chapters, as a gun that sets opponents on fire essentially means it can one-shot kill your rebel companions. The decision to cut them from HL2 might also have to do with problems simulating cloth physics, as well as how hard it is to make hip-firing enemies look good (from animation standpoint) when their target is above them
@@joonaa2751 yeah it would be very frustrating to fight the cremator, it would’ve been cool if we had something that moved fast and did back flips in the air like the combine assassin

Glad to see my submission got in! This was a really well researched video and I'm glad that these cut characters are being shown! (Also I just realized the cremator's fire was supposed to be green, I put it as regular fire aaa)
The workers were kinda brought back for HL:A, as the masked workers seen in the intro, also as corpses throughout the quarantine zone. Russel even wears one of their rubber suits in his lab.
There are many things missed here, especially considering Lucia didn't record or play the alpha build of HL2 himself, this is annoying because the builds show a whole lot more too them. So, the cremator has two Immolotar flamethrowers, one seen in the 2003 leak and another one seen in the 2016-17 leaks. Oh and the Hunter-Choppers concept art depicts it as a Gunship, looking much bigger and larger than anything seen. 2. Elite Metrocops were seen in Raising the Bar but are never mentioned, it is implied they were scrapped months before the game came out. This goes the same for the green aquatic bullsquid, given as they fit more of the retails style. 3. 15:12 is the most inaccurate wiki yet as you've mentioned, the Half-Life wiki is unsourced sure but that is where you get the information from ONLY if you're unaware of the CombineOver Wiki. The Over Wiki has been around since 2006 and has been updated by fans and former devs. 4. Here are some more characters missed out: "Barney's Scout, Drainage Doug, Whistler Joe (Original name and character of Manhack Matt), The Barge Driver, RPGGuy, The Consul, Regis (Vienna scene) etc" more I hope will all be figured out in part 2 4.5 The Sentry Guns have a completely different and older model that can still be seen in older 2001 maps by the way. 5: Eli Maxwell was supposed to have a huge role in the particle storms first introduction, his audio is still chilling 20+ years later 6: The Merkava had two varaints, a dark green one (Used by conscripts) and the grey camo variant, this one was used by the combine with it having an untextured LMG on the top. 7. The V-100 APC has two other purposes. As seen in d1_canals_end, the V-100 was used by the Metropolice to stop Gordon's progress. It's later original sequence was seen in "Anticiizen One" with an earily usable Emplacement Gun. The APC also was seen in E3_seafloor as well. 8. The HK-707 was meant to shoot down the players/allied NPC rockets from the missile launcher and was yes, used by the Combine. They even had gibs for when destroyed. 9 (FINAL): Conscripts can use a variety of different weaponry, the goes from the XM29 OICW, AK-47, SMG1, Shotgun, GR9, Pistol, Magnum (Modded), MP5K and RPG (Scripted only). early Conscripts NPCs were basically just Barney from HL1 but later were switched and re-skinned over Combine Elite NPCs.
If you want my list for other enemies or characters missed (Or will be missed for Part 2, since recording and editing has probably already started) then I'll be sure to make the full one in part 2.
It would be nice to have conscripts. At the start of the game, they would follow orders from the Combine Soldiers willingly as they have no choice. But, after hearing about Gordon Freeman, they would slowly turn against the Combine, especially after knowing Gordon escaped Nova Prospect. In Anti-Citizen One, conscripts would actually fight alongside the rebels against the Combine. But sadly they were never added and was removed/replaced.
@@peppermillers8361 why does everyone flame me every time I profess my love to the combine guard. He has a fucking old man head and a strider cannon do you get it. Stop playing with him. Jesus fucking christ
I would have liked to have more alien wildlife in HL2. It would have been cool to see worldbuilding wise how the alien species adapt to living on earth and maybe even mutated. In that regard HL2 feels quite disconnected to HL1 And yes, of course I want to see the cut weapon video!
I don't get why they removed the combine sniper model. when, at worst, it'd be a new model to ogle once you successfully kill. If I remember right, they kept in a Combine pilot that are near impossible to see, but they're still there. The soldier/elite they used feels like they thought the model/texture they had didn't fit the current game, but then never bothered replacing the placeholders.
the cremator could've been used ALOT in hl:a like some npc you could've came across in random areas of the quarantine zone pushing you away if you got too close to it actually using the immolator if you continued to annoy it or shot it
I loved just about all of 'em i always frelt the variety on unique and truly different enemys was limited in comparison when compared to the first half life half life alyx and even opposing force a all had much larger pool of unique looking acting foes that all gave you good horrific memories
With the amount of cut vehicles (both for the conscripts and combine) that have this very cool visual identify I imagine if they were to be bought back, it could really help introduce the conscripts (or some other old military faction) as an new rebel faction, like an rebel group from another part of the world or something like that

My favourite cut beta Enemy is probably the Hydra, it looked very cool in the canal levels, and so I was really curious how combat with it would actually look like, but unfortunately they didn't know how to make that bit interesting enough.
We need a full fledge Half Life 2 beta reimagining which includes all of the cut content and more and also starts from Half Life 2 all the way to Half Life 2 Episode 3 and being made by dozens or even hundreds of modders and supported by Valve as well
The Synth Elite Soldier is my personal favorite of the bunch, and it's would be abilities as shown in a GMod Beta Synth mod really solidified it for me. Fast, agile, nimble, an energy shield and spear that doubles as a rifle. Tell me those things wouldn't be able to physically and combat-wise keep up with Gordon, I dare ya.
some of the combine synth designs that showcase a shield are maybe what was used to recreate the combine Charger aka "Wallhammer" From Half Life Alyx, the big combine with armor plates, a shotgun, and hardlight shield
I really wish we got the half-life conscripts that either would be below the metro police or replace them (likely the first one). They just make a better resistance faction rather than the rebels we got; they honestly could've included both types of rebels. It would also be interesting to see the tanks and apcs that we saw in the street war for HL Beta be used to combat the combine forces throughout city 17.
Cremator, Elite Metrocop and Combine Assassin should have stayed, nothing can change my mind about it And whoever decided to cut the Cremator again from Half Life Alyx should have been fired on the spot.

Having the Combine use the Merkava tank, the main tank of the IDF, is so great. The authoritarian police state of the of the combine looked at Israel apartheid state and tanks and said "Bet"
I think of why the conscript were cut is because having a human enemy and with adjacent of human ally gonna confuses a lot player might causing friendly fire.

here's how I think cremators could've functioned:

● the immolator creates lingering flames which stick to physics props and surfaces like hunter flechettes do

- being shot in the fuel tank on its back
- touching its own flames
● the cremator's head would fall off upon death, and the player would be able to use it to confuse the combine's robots while carrying it because they would mistake the player for a friendly.
