Second, a little advice. By definition a 'reaction' is always a first time viewing. Titling a reaction to an MV as a 'first reaction' is a little redundant. It can also lead to some confusion for your viewers. When reacters title a reaction "first reaction" a lot of people immediately assume it's their first reaction to the group. You can have multiple reactions for each group, hence there being a 'first', but only one reaction per MV, which makes all of them a 'first'. See what I mean?
Why is this a thing? I, like a lot of people, like to start where the reacter started. We like to see your first reaction to a specific group first, before we start diving into your other reactions for that group. The initial reaction to a group will always be more impactful, more interesting and, in general, more entertaining for the viewer. It sort of forms the foundation on which later reactions will
I'm not saying that you're screwing up or that you can't continue to title your reactions as you have been. I'm just pointing out that what you're doing can cause a little confusion for some people.
Scream is another metal fusion song. Piri is the closest they've come to a Western rock song and still one of their best ever. Deja Vu has some surprises for you when you think you know what to expect. Their b-sides go from jazz to funk to reggae or full on ballads because they are, in fact, amazing at everything.
The plot of Chase Me: they are bored ghosts haunting that place who mess with the ghost hunter for fun. Good Night is the part 2 that finishes the story.

"Chase me" was their debut, released on January 13th (a Friday), 2017. It must have been nerve-wrecking for the members, re-debuting with a genre that is not popular in Korea after Minx failed. (5 of them were Minx before.) But they already doubled their sales with this. And they stuck with the Rock/Metal vibe until today, now selling 50 times the albums than Minx did.
This is the start of the Nightmare arc, which spans 6 MVs and 1 Japanese release. They are Nightmares here, and the Nightmare hunter is trying to dispel them - how that turns out is shown in the next one, Good Night.

As others have said Chase Me is their debut song and is the beginning of their Nightmare series. There are 7 songs in this storyline with the immediate follow up to Chase Me being Good Night. It takes place shortly after Chase Me ends and even starts with the creepy music box instrumental that was in that last scene of Chase Me.
Genre wise, their music is extremely diverse. They have full on metal songs, like their Japanese track No More, which was worked on by Pontus Norgren, the guitarist for Swedish Power Metal band, Hammer Fall. They have several game OSTs as well as an Anime opening, named Eclipse, for Kings Raid: Succssors of the Will. They've got Jazz, Trap, Pop, Rock, EDM, Funk, Reggae, and more in their discography, as well as some absolutely beautiful ballads. Their whole discography is pretty flawless and is worth checking out.

the lyrics mirror themselves, about being yourself, not conforming to kpop standards, and trailblazing to which others 'chase them'. prior to dreamcatcher, 5 of the members were part of a stereotypical kpop girl group. being from a small company with limited resources, they essentially failed. in an industry where anything that isn't a monetary success is quickly discarded, their company ceo did the unthinkable and gave them a second chance to 'catch' their dreams. this time, they would succeed or fail on their own terms, make the music they want even if it wasn't popular in their own country. although they are known for infusing rock in various ways in many of their songs, their music is very diverse and often doesn't sound like their industry peers.
If you unpack the lyrics of the song, "Chase Me" has a secondary meaning. You might not know, most of the members from the group (Dreamcatcher) were from a previously failed K-pop group, with a typical cutesy bright concept. Reason for their failure is due to the market being saturated with girl groups doing the same thing and they could not stand out against the bigger groups or groups back by companies with much larger marketing resources (it has to be note that their company is relatively small ).
Hence, the lyrics of Chase Me also alludes to doing something different where the industry norm, i.e. are "empty people's dreams"which are "boring", and hence, they want "something thrilling", and "gonna do something outrageous" so that "the quiet world is going to get a lot of noise". With Chase Me as their debut song, instead of them chasing after fads and trends, they are now setting their own trend with their music and asking the general public to chase them and follow up instead, and they will get 'seven different little presents every day".
In fact, a lot of their songs, especially during the Nightmare era, have a double meaning: whatever the song is literally talking about on one hand, and their journey and experiences on the other. E.g. a song might be a rendering of a traditional legend of two lovers separated by Milky Way, meeting once a year on a bridge of crows, but you can also see it as the story of Dreamcatcher and InSomnia (their fans), still feeling the love even if we can't meet at concerts, even if we have to wait for comebacks.
Dreamcatcher has no bad tracks, they literally all slap, but you just started the Nightmare storyline, so I would continue with that. Good Night is next up!
When their company decided to re-debut them as Dreamcatcher because they knew the girls weren't the problem, it was the concept - they were right. These performers can pull off anything, and have. Another comment mentioned how you can just start from the beginning of their title tracks and work your way up, and you totally can. But I do want to make a suggestion. On top of being incredibly talented ladies, part of their draw is that offstage, they are a group of comedians. Absolute goofballs not taking themselves too seriously and having fun. If you want to get to know this side of them before continuing, I recommend watching their "Music Video" for their song Sahara. I don't want to spoil it too much, but just know it gives a glimpse into who they are as people.

DREAMCATCHER CHASE ME:
The guy checks into room 808. From the start, it is known that he is a paranormal investigator and that he is investigating the haunted castle, where the girls are bound to (JIU closed the gates to the mansion in the Fly High video). As he struggles to get into the door, the lights flicker, and we see JIU standing in the hallway, holding a doll dressed in red. He sees her but when he directs his camera to her, she cannot be seen in the camera view.Once he does get into his innocent looking room, he takes out his files that he had compiled on the girls and started to mark down that he saw JIU. However, his pencil broke and had a bloody nose. No doubt that the girls caused this time. He decides to take a rest, as a result.
The picture he had acquired is the same as the girls shown in Fly High and You & I, confirming that they are dead and that they have been dead for a very long time. I also remembered that they wore their kimonos in the reverse order, which is commonly associated with the dead.
During his rest, he is hypnotized by SUA. (The way she swung the pendant was like how she rang the bell in Fly High). He wakes up knowing she is there but after turning back, she is no longer there. The hypnosis seems to be the start of something as he starts seeing that his reflection is delayed, and he starts getting nightmares when he sleeps.
We are then shown a ritual scene, where Dami is lying on the ground and all the members are surrounding her. One of the items around her, of interest, is the red doll, which JIU was holding onto (SUA is also in the middle). Their plan, whatever it is at this stage is taking into effect. As mentioned previously, JIU was leader after she became possessed/evil in You & I. The use of her doll in this ritual might be a transfer of leadership to another member. This will be important in the next video. Each member takes a turn at tormenting the guy. Siyeon holds the door in place, Gahyeon throws books onto the ground. JIU floats in the hallway. Yoohyeon changes all the room numbers to room 808, confusing him in a later scene.
At the bridge of the song, we see him inspecting the surveillance system, which I assumed he installed himself. He sees confronting images of himself crawling away from something or someone. It isn’t shown on camera, but we see a flashback to JIU walking towards him. This convinces him that enough is enough, and he brings an axe to his room. He starts swinging the axe, the main goal being to break down the door and hotel, one step at a time.However, when he steps back into the room, we do not see his room. Instead, we see a warm coloured room, shown as one of the rooms the girls used to play in. On the wall is that old picture of the group, enlarged. He smiles in the room, which I am not sure why he does so.
And that is my interpretation of the video. What do you think happened or do you agree with me? There are still many gaps that I am not sure of and despite looking into some other theories, I can’t think of anything that may fill up those gaps.
Agreed. Chase Me is very anime sounding along with some of their other tracks. Their CEO wanted to bring something different to the table since the cute concept is over saturated in the kpop industry and the competition was tough, so he brought his experience with rock from Japan to South Korea; he didn't want to break the girls up because he saw their talent and potential, therefore, he redebuted the original 5 members of MINX and added two new members to the group - Handong (Chinese) and Gahyeon (youngest member) - and called the new group Dreamcatcher. If Dreamcatcher didn't work out, he was going to open a kimchi business for the girls. However, they found success internationally and are doing really good right now.
If you want something different from the girls, their Tree of Language album is a full length album consists of different variety of music. If you want something heavy, their Japanese album offers that. However, I suggest finishing the NIGHTMARE series since you started Chase Me already.

I might be biased since this song released on my birthday but this is my favorite song by Dreamcatcher. I discovered them recently and I'm not as devoted as other fans but I genuinely love the them.
I found them somehow because of BOCA and since then I've been trying to listen to all their songs 😅

Just one bit of advice. Never look away from the screen during a Dreamcatcher video. Every single frame contains story information. Nothing is wasted. There is no filler and everything in the frame means something, even the sets are carefully decorated to enhance the story.
When you aknowledge that DC was a cutesy average kpop group, the lyrics makes more sense
Dreamcatcher are my second fav gg as I just love their darker concept and I also love the beat to all their songs.
My bias is Dami (sha has the same name as me) also she is the rapper with a deeper voice compared to the rest.

Their early sounds are VERY jrock inspired - their CEO had some experience in the industry in Japan. You're meant to get Shining vibes =) Digipedi (MV maker) gets a lot of inspo from other movies. They actually did a LITERAL anime opening called Eclipse for King's Raid. =) There's a video for it and everything. They also have harder/heaver metal in their Japanese songs, since there's a market for it there. Their main vocalist, Siyeon, was in a rock band before becoming an idol so she's perfect for this genre.
DC re-debuted (5 of them were in a girl crush group called Minx, unfortunately it massively failed) with the rock concept despite Korea not really liking rock. They have stuck to their roots for the last 7 years, but they can literally do any genre (and their discography is rife with everything from city pop, jazz, EDM, nu metal, basically every genre under the sun). This is the beginning of their "nightmare" arc - what happens to this man is shown in the next video, Goodnight, and we see how it started in their song Fly High. They are nightmares, or ghosts, in this MV and he's there to investigate. The nightmare arc is comprised of Chase Me, Goodnight, Fly High, You and I, What, Piri and Breaking Out (which is a Japanese track).
As for other groups like them? No one is really like them, however Rolling Quartz is a rock group and has covered DC songs, and Dreamcatcher shares a large set of producers with ATEEZ so they've got similar sounds.
FYI this song can be interpreted as 3 PoV
- horror, like ghosts teasing ghost hunter to chase them
- love, like a woman who likes being chased for love
- their starting career, like it was boring for standard kpop girlgroup format, they did once as minx and failed, and just doing their instinct to choose rock infused in kpop to be more successful. This PoV is more perfect by seeing the lyrics in whole second verse, especially forcing to fit in frame, well, again, standard formula to be successful girlgroup in kpop, but ot was already almost everywhere

Welcome to the Dreamworld! Others have dived into the various interpretations of song and it's position in the groups history. The context of the group going into rock in Korea is interesting. Rock was banned entirely in Korea from 1975 to the end of the Park Chung Hee dictatorship in 1979, and so Rap and dance music became the basis of kpop at its inception in the 90s. Rock did start to come back a bit in those years but in 2005 a Punk band called RUX caused a huge scandal when two of their male fans stripped and dance naked on a live TV performance by the band. Rock elements were pretty much avoided by the entire kpop industry for the following decade. Dreamcatcher's management was thus taking a risk by incorporating rock and horror in their concept for the group. They were, indeed, more successful than they had been as Minx and eventually MUCH more successful, and ultimately they opened the door for other kpop groups to incorporate rock sounds. But none to date have done so as consistently as Dreamcatcher. Throughout this period there has been a krock scene but it's not remotely as big in terms of album and ticket sales. A krock group you would almost certainly enjoy is Rolling Quartz who have covered one of Dreamcatcher's songs. Other kpop girl groups that had at least some songs with rock elements include Purple Kiss, Pink Fantasy and Pixy.

Ah the song that absolutely sunk me into being Insomnia. (fyi - fans are InSomnia, the "somnia" meaning dreams so its "in dreams" - fans and Dreamcatcher will always be together in dreams) Best timing of my entire LIFE to have found these girls literally 2 days before they stepped on stage at MCountdown from a soompi article if you can believe that.
Dunno if you're reading this far down, but each of them represents a particular nightmare or phobia and it's represented by their actions in the MV.
Jiu - being chased (she chases the Hunter)
Sua - unable to move/sleep paralysis (she doesn't move aside from the very end of the MV in the flashback)
Siyeon - being trapped in a small space/claustrophobia (she traps the Hunter in his room)
Handong - being watched (she observes him through the peephole and through the window... from the 8th floor)
Yoohyeon - being lost (she changes all of the room numbers)
Dami - being injured or hurt (sacrifical person and shes the one that ripped the eyes off the bear)
Gahyeon - falling from high places (she knocks the books off the shelf like any proper bratty poltergeist would)

Pretty sure the dude is a ghost hunter in a supposedly haunted hotel, so he wouldn't be easily freaked out - he wants to capture them. You should watch this storyline, at least - the next MV is Good Night.
Another song that has the horror/rock theme that is not part of the Nightmare series is BEcause - which takes its inspiration from the movie US. But it is worth going through Nightmare series in order, next up Good Night, then Fly High (which is a prequel to the story), You and I and What, then Piri is the official conclusion. The Japanese song Breaking Out is an alternative ending.
