We call Dreamcatcher face of rock in kpop. They are the only kpop girl group that does mix of rock/metal with pop music. Very unique group with a hard hitting music and the storyline that's changing depending if they doing eras or trilogy storylines. But over all a pretty dope group to follow if you need music for like workouts or something.
They're not the only but one of the only one's.

Thank you for your reaction, as you noticed, they're Veterans in the kpop world, coming from a small company and inspired by a niche genre (rock) in Korea, and they've been working their success from busking in the street to touring non stop every year all around the globe, they will probably never be at the level of the biggest kpop act, but their fans love them to death and are very loyal. They're also very talented and even if their base sound is rock-ish, they excel in a lot of different genre, lastly they re hard working, humble and kind toward their staff/team but also their fellow artists.
The fans don't love these ladies for just the music or performances (although they are AWESOME at all of that).
We love them because they are adorable crackheads and sweethearted Human Beings who actually care about other people. They are always grateful for all the help and encouragement they receive and they are always sending positivity to everybody.
Good people like these ladies totally deserve to be successful.
Just too bad the system is rigged against them, or they really would be on the top of the pile.
Helpful tip: You will never have to worry about copyright strikes when reacting to anything from Dreamcatcher's official channel. Not only do they not strike reactions, they encourage them. DC started from a small company that didn't have a ton of money for promotions. As such, is the early days most of DC's growth was due to word of mouth which included, to a large degree, reactions to their music videos. They understand, and appreciate, the amount of exposure that people like you give them.

As for what to react to next? Anything. Their discography is amazing. They do, however, tend to group their releases in to stories or trilogies with linking themes. Knowing InSomnias (the fandom) I'm sure someone has already typed out a list of how their songs are grouped. If not, let us know and we'll be glad make a list for you.
Yeah mostly, but the stuff they released under Sony some ppl got strikes for that and for some of the Japanese stuff.
DCC never gives out any strikes but the publisher for their albums unfortunately does it sometimes.

Yeah, if I'm not mistaken, most, if not all, of their Japanese releases are hosted by PonyCanyon, a Japanese company. Japanese company can get pretty rabid when it comes to protecting copyright. I have, however, seen a lot of reactions to their Japanese releases. Maybe they made a deal with PC.
I've seen quite a few album releases and I haven't seen anyone complain about getting a strike. I've heard of them getting blocked if the reacter tries to react to too many songs in one video though.
I'm not saying you're wrong, just that I've never encountered this myself.
On the other hand, most of the album reactions I've seen have been a combination of special clips, lyric videos and / or performance videos from other sources. Maybe it's the mishmash of video sources that allows them to avoid getting a strike. I dunno. I'm just spitballing here.
@@keithcraig506 That's as good a guess as any for how the copyright system works on YT, since YT is so inconsistent about stuff and gives strikes to people who were completely within TOS, but ignores other people and allows them to break those rules all the time. Really stupid broken inconsistent system.

As I understand it, a copyright strike can be triggered in one of two ways.
First, there's an automated algorithm. A company, say PonyCanyon, submits a copy of a song to RUclips and tells them to protect the copyright. The song is digitized and added to the system. Anytime that song is played on RUclips by an unauthorized channel, it triggers the algorithm. Now I don't know if this triggers an investigation to see if terms of use or a copyright is being violated or if it just automatically triggers a strike at this point. They'll do the same thing with video. If RUclips 'sees' a video that is supposed to be protected it will trigger the algorithm.
This is why a lot of channels will pause frequently, alter the audio, flip the video and / or put a mask over the video. This is their attempt to fool the algorithm. Also, frequent pausing and commentating is a way to show 'fair use', meaning the material is being used to educational or review purposes, which is allowed.
Second would be the company that owns the IP contacts RUclips and tells them "Hey, they're using my IP without permission", which leads to a strike.

kpop for adults and musicians :D. they got a lot of cool songs and always switch it up so no two songs are alike. it's genre mixing but they take music from all corners of the world and throughout different time eras. since they are somewhat of a black sheep underdog in their industry, a lot of their songs are about not giving up on your dreams, hence their name, but also not losing your identity in its pursuit. many songs are also part of a series that are social commentary of current day issues.
justice is part 2 and the final part of their villians arc. part 1 is 'ootd' which is a satirical hit on the greed and excesses of current day entertainment and society, represented by the crown. ootd mirrors what you will often see and hear in modern kpop. in justice, it's the reverse as the they return to their sound atypical of kpop and use more simple and analog video production with most of the mv filmed in the same simple set. the ending scene with the cassette tape being played is suggesting we need to turn back the clock when things were more simple and real.
The one doing the rap is actually Dami. She's Dreamcatcher's main rapper, although Gahyun and Sua both also sometimes rap.

Dunno where in the US you're based, but Dreamcatcher's 2024 US tour was just announced for November, and tickets are now on sale. Stops in New York, Washington, Chicago, Denver, Seattle, Los Angeles, Oakland, Houston, St. Petersburg and Atlanta. Having seen them six times live, they are an INCREDIBLE show, a mix of mosh pit, rave, and circus, and well worth every penny to see them!

Gahyun is indeed a Rapper, one of three in the group, but that was not Gahyun doing that rap in this song. That is the Main Rapper, Dami.
SuA is the third rapper of the group and she's also the Main Dancer.
In this MV, 5 out of the 7 members belted this song out which has not been done by them before (we have been fairly confident that they all COULD do this, but this was a first actually seeing and hearing it in an MV). This was epic on another level, even for this amazing group.
The Main Vocalist, Siyeon, has gone on hiatus for various health problems. She's the one with the Purple-and-Black bobbed hair and the Red suit. She was absent for most of the promotions for this song (as far as I know, she only participated in 2 live stages with the group for this album and then went on hiatus, leaving the group down their Main Vocalist). BUT DC has never been any sort of slouch. These ladies have had to work harder than other groups to get where they are so they are no strangers to having to really buckle down and dig deep.
So the Main Dancer, SuA, and the group's one-and-only Non-Korean member, Han Dong, stepped up to take Siyeon's parts on the live stages for the remainder of the promotions. SuA has an incredibly high voice and when she laughs really hard, she can ACCIDENTALLY call dolphins; she is actually the High Note Queen of the group, even though she is only listed as a Vocalist or even as low as a Sub-Vocalist. Siyeon is Main Vocalist for damned great reason so when these 2 ladies had to fill in for her, that is no small feat. They did an AMAZING job of covering the position. So during the course of the promotion period for this, 6 out of the 7 members belted it out.
I could not be any more proud of these ladies, this is just one reason among many that this is my Ult Group in all of Music in general.
Welcome to the Dreamworld! Dreamcatcher are very unique. They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip out your spine when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉
Justice is part two of a two-part series, the first one is OOTD, which sounds very differently. Just like ymenehcra for OOTD, an account named 9mynameis1 has been posting messages before the comeback. She posted that her seven friends became obsessed with the crown and have not been responding anymore, which corresponds with the secret diary Siyeon (our powerhouse main vocal, also known as Wolfie) is reading. The text there reads "How are you? I'm worried because you aren't replying." So what we are seeing here is the seven friends (Dreamcatcher) getting rid of their obsession with the crown (materialism, narcicism) by literally destroying it, which makes their friend rejoin them (there is an eighth person joining them near the end).
There is also a lot of imagery about death and legendary figures like Valkyries or greek goddesses and legends. Reddit user PaintMeYaBasic has managed to identify these paintings in the MV: Hero by Edward Burne-Jones (from the tale of Hero and Leander), Valkyrie and a Dying Hero by Hans Makart, Hero and Leander by Salvator Rosa and finally "Justice" by Kenyon Cox in the center back. In the tale of Hero and Leander from Greek mythology, Hero is actually a priestess of Aphrodite (Venus in the Roman myths), so that is not the same as the hero who is taken from the battlefield by a Valkyrie in the other painting. But OOTD has the line "I'm Venus, Nephthys, call me a Goddess". It is likely there is a connection.
While OOTD was about falling for the temptations of modern life and a satire on narcicism (especially influencers and fast fashion), I believe Justice is telling us to fight those temptations for a better world. It is a call to become a warrior for good in the world and fight the materialism that seems to be the most important thing for many people in the developed countries. You can see JiU break the bonds that hold her down, and we should do the same.
Please not that this is just my interpretation. Art can be interpreted in different ways, and other opinions are just as valid as mine.
There are also many references to their older MVs in this. The paintings also have a deeper meaning in Chase me, there is a sword in Deja Vu and Scream, the bite into the apple is a callback to BEcause and the tree to the Dystopia trilogy - and so on. There are many more. The 8th figure in the end could also be JiU from Deja Vu, finally breaking the cycle of violence and providing justice.
Musically, I love the song. The guitars in the pre-chorus and chorus are pure heaven (just like Dongie with her wings). It has the right amount of heaviness for me, and it is an anthem and a call to action. I also love that they shortened the pre-chorus by two bars in the second half, throwing us into the chorus early. Justice is a brilliant, epic release, showing everyone that a group can still produce fantastic music and MVs after seven and a half years. I can't help it, I deeply respect these ladies and their whole team.

It's very common for a kpop group to encompass multiple genres and sounds in the same song. This is what makes this industry strong. It is also common for kpop groups to be conceived as football or basketball teams. each member of the group has their position (main vocal, lead vocal, main dancer, main rapper, leader etc...). and the production of a large majority of the group is quite spectacular. Agencies with the most money can spend billions of Wons (millions of dollars) on certain MV's. most of the MV's also tell something, groups like Dreamcatcher have built story lines in their MV's if they take "The nightmare series" by dreamcatcher they tell a story through 6 or 7 MV's. which means that they have a lot of writing and directing work in their MV's. but among all the pretty incredible kpop groups that exist Dreamcatcher is the most unique for me. the or a large majority of groups go with cute or girls crush concepts, or more urban Dreamcatcher has a very horrific concept and their title tracks are almost always rock or metal songs which is quite rare in kpop, of course they also have songs. more EDM or pop but their genre remains rock if you look at their B-side they are capable of all singing given the quality of their vocal line. (Siyeon, Yoohyeon, Sua, Jiu, Handong) and their Rap line Gahyeon and Dami. She sings rock, pop, jazz, ballads, electro music, R&B, rap etc... and often a mixture of these genres in the same song.
Dreamcatcher also known as "The Dark Angels of K-Pop" because of their Edgy & Dark style. Musically, Lyrically & Visually. Even their 'mildest' track 'BEcause' is one of their darkest song.

Another extra info for you too : Dreamcatcher also collaborating with Producer Han Dongcheol and his production company Funky Studio to produce their own first reality show.
Producer Han Dongcheol is often cited as "Star Producer" who has led several famous programs such as "Produce 101", "Show Me The Money", "Unpretty Rapstar", and "Sixteen" during his times on Mnet before he left and joined with YG Entertainment at 2017, which he also eventually left to start a new fresh by establishing his own production company called Funky Studio.

Do Odd Eye next. That’s one of my fav. They’ll probably tell you to start the trilogy’s in order though. If you do go that route start with the Dystopia one 🙂
Their production team is a MASTER of genre blending! They are firmly rooted in rock for all their title tracks, but they can literally pull off any genre under the sun (and their discography demonstrates it well).
The first rapper you're asking about is actually Dam, who is the main rapper! :) I believe Gahyun is the sub rapper.
VirtuouS/Justice is actually a continuation of the VillainS album with OOTD as the title track. Their earlier stuff is very j-rock inspired, starting with their re-debut (from Minx to DC with Handong and Gahyun added) song Chase Me. They have also done an anime opening (Eclipse, for King's Raid) and worked on some heavier metal music with Endless Night, No More and Don't Light My Fire.
I would say personally for you to check out Maison, Vision and Bon Voyage - their apocalypse trilogy, or go all the way back to Chase Me in 2017 and move forward from there. You will not be disappointed no matter what you check out, though.
The rapper is Dami. She’s probably one of the best, most versatile female rappers in the Korean music industry.

Dreamcatcher 101- They don't do rock or metal the way an American thinks of those, Dreamcatcher genre is a fusion or rock or metal sounds with whatever other styles they feel like using this time; their biggest song on RUclips starts out moohmbaton. Top shelf vocals switch between power and softness based on the message in that part of the song. Rap is more about flow adding to the vibe than blasting syllables per second.
The other half of their discography is mid-tempo vibe songs and ballads. Jazz, trap, drum & bass, edm, reggae, r&b, city pop... they're talented enough they can do anything so they've done nearly everything.
SI in Korean names is pronounced "she" so Siyeon's name is she-yawn. That's the one that gets everyone because of spelling conventions for English.
Boca is the epitome of Dreamcatcher genre, it's their biggest MV for a reason. The only thing wrong with it is missing Handong who was stuck out of Korea during the 2020 travel bans. Piri is another all-time great that gets closer to western style rock than most. Curse of the Spider 2024 ver. is a rearrangement of an older song that goes all in on the metal sound meant as a way to have fun with the audience at concerts.

The original concept of DREAMCATCHER is that each member is plagued by a different nightmare. I don’t know if it has continued through all the MVs, but one member was always being chased, one was always tied down, one was always being physically harmed, etc… An overall conceptual theme for their MVs has been searching for a utopia/relief from their nightmare.
The recent ARG shows that all of the previous storylines are parallel worlds they've been slipping into. Including OOTD.
Thank you for giving Dreamcatcher a chance, they are an underrated group since the Rock is not very popular in Korea.
I have followed them since their debut, they belong to a very small company and their fandom (InSomnia) is loyal and growing.
Although rock is not the only genre they use, in their B-Sides they have all kinds of mixes and they are a group that can surprise you.

Sadly they are not widely accepted in south Korea because they are not your typical Kpop girl groups that does the pop/hip/dance style because they are too "rock" for most mainstream south Korean music scenes. Thanks for the reaction! Dreamcatcher is lore-heavy although you can enjoy the music without it. Their signature sound boils down to "soaring vocals and guitars that go hard, but make it kpop." If you want to get a sense of the lore, I recommend checking out the songs in the order they appear in their respective series, but the different series are independent of one another. I hope that makes sense!😅
Scream - 1st song in the Dystopia trilogy, their most popular era. They do a lot of genre-mixing in this trilogy, from psych trance and moonbahton. This is also when they shot up in popularity. The storyline/theme is about online harassment. The 2nd song in this series, Boca, is the most reacted-to Dreamcatcher M/V.
Maison - 1st song in the Apocalypse trilogy, which is about the climate apocalypse. The songs have more of an alternative rock mix including industrial. Some fans love it, some prefer the older stuff.
BEcause - a horror-themed standalone song, probably their most kpop title track song, still goes hard. Cool drum n bass moments. It's a visual feast, you won't regret watching this.
Chase Me - 1st song in the Nightmare series. This was their debut song and they had a more anime-esque jrock influenced sound. This is the older Dreamcatcher sound before they gradually introduced more of the electronic influences.
OOTD - the most divisive song to date. Justice is the sequel to this song and they're part of the "VS" duology, playing with the themes of villains vs heroes. OOTD has intricate ARG lore about a cult of evil influencers that murder people for a crown (representing greed, thirst for fame, etc). Justice is a response to that and is about realigning oneself to higher virtues and destroying the source of those temptations.
The one who was rapping was Dami not sure why what you were looking at said Gayheon was the only rapper while she does rap Dami is the main rapper

Something for they videos und lyrics. They have soem sort of storyline each album in it, so I recomande to see the songs in order. Many symbols in dthe videos and lyrics are coming often back. So the apple of eden, who is a sin but also the symbol of wisdom and truth. For the interpretation all f their songs have some social meaning in it. Here, fight for the Justice, for yourselfe, against hatred. And yes, mabe you must fight against a crown, a person or something who is above yourselfe in society, than how often do we have the problem, that some people at the top to the crimes and are in a totaly hypocrite way. The fight around teh crown is also a theme, that is often in it. But most of their lyrics are also with meaninings between two persons or small groups.
The storyline is a deleopment so the first songs like from teh albun Nightmare are more personal staff. Fears, nightmares and worries of each one and also themes like independance and so on.
For this song, they group say for themselfes, Dreamcatchers bekame superheroes.
They got reincarnet to the world, to fight for Justice, against crimes, and to help the people who do the good and right things. Something like that XD

This is my favorite group ever, and I've listened to a lot in my 43 years. Glad you liked it. They are insanely good. Consider to start from the debut, "Chase Me", the order of further releases is simple to find. Of course they did changed in time, and became more skilled, so earlier works might be a bit more rough compared to later ones like this one. But they have no bad songs.
About the meaning: thing is, they love to have lore that spans for more than one title track. So this is conclusion of the story that was started in the previous album with "OOTD" title track. Very different in style, but not in quality. Anyway, it is impossible to understand completely what's going on without at least OOTD, and arguably without knowing wider and deeper meta context. So maybe it is better to not bother to decipher everything instantly :)

To fully understand the power of Dreamcatcher, this is a song that NEEDS to be heard with live vocals and or live instruments as the chorus high belt is actually done by 5(6 with the showcase version) different members. It has a Dancear version from 1theK with full choreo and absolutely raw audio, and a band live version with live instruments, no choreo and even stronger chorus. Both are really outstanding singing performances. Search for:
