The Next ones on this arc IS fly high (prequel to Chase me and good Night), you and I, what and piri. Also breaking out (japanese) that IS the alternative ending ❤
They are having a comeback on July 10th! It's the second half of their story from OOTD (I don't recall if you've reacted to OOTD?). If you haven't reacted to OOTD and you want to check that out ahead of the comeback, that'd be sick! Otherwise, Fly High is next in this sequence.
Dreamcatcher is still an active group. They have a new release dropping called VirtuouS, with "Justice" as the title track, on July 10th.
"OOTD" is the first part of the arc if you want to check that one out ahead of time.
To say dreamcatcher has got less rock heavy while only know 3 songs with the most recent one being from 2020 is a crazy take. Their last 2 albums have had rock songs heavier than all the ones you listened to so far. Edit: Also they're still active
The Nightmare story arc has 7 songs: Chase Me, Good Night, Fly High, You and I, What, Piri, and Breaking Out. Fly High is a prequel and takes place before the events of Chase Me.
Dreamcatcher have a small fan base in South Korea, but a large one internationally. Koreans and the Kpop industry are not fans of rock music. Dreamcatcher went through 5 years of struggle before being recognized for their talent with a win on a music show. This usually happens in the first year after debut for a new group. The support of international fans kept them going through the tough years and they tour regularly in North America and Europe. They were in Europe last February and will be in Latin America in September. Their next comeback will be on July 10th and it's likely a summer tour of the US will come with the new album.
Can confirm, this is awesome live, lmao. It's funny that you say it sounds like an anime opening because their early stuff is definitely Jrock inspired. From what I've read, their CEO actually moved to Japan and taught himself Japanese and worked in the music industry in Japan before coming back to Korea and starting Happy Face Entertainment (which is now Dreamcatcher Company) and debuting Minx, which became Dreamcatcher. So all of that tracks. :)
Speaking of anime openings, they've done a literal anime opening called Eclipse. Their Japanese music is also significantly heavier than their Korean music, their heaviest song arguably being No More.
Fun fact the robes at the end of Good Night are still available as merch and it's so fun to go to concerts and see people walking around with their light sticks in their robes, 10/10 fun.
Good Night is one of their heavier releases, and I love it. The K-Rock girl group Rolling Quartz also did an excellent cover of it.The Nightmare hunter casts spells to trap the members, but they get the book from him and turn it against him, trapping him behind the mirror.
The next song in the Nightmare arc, "Fly High", is from the album "Prequel", which is a strong hint to consider. 😉 That is also a very interesting song.

They've always been pretty experimental with their sound. They have, legitimately, one of the most diverse discographies of any group I've ever come across, K-Pop or not. EDM, Trap, Trance, Electronic, Pop, Rock, Metal, R&B, Jazz, Reggae, Funk, and more can be found throughout their EPs and Albums. The variations that you saw in Boca is just them doing what they've always done. The Dystopia trilogy has more electronic elements in its production, but as the songs are about cyberbullying, hate speech, and social media, it makes sense that they'd incorporate more "digital" instrumentation.
Good Night is the second part of the Nightmare series, which has 7 songs in total.

They are still an active group. They just celebrated their 7th year anniversary this January, but they re-signed their contacts back at the end of 2022. They love what they do, love each other, and they love their fans, so they decided to renew together as a group over a year early.
As for recommendations, their whole discography slaps front to back. I'd say just keep working your way through it.
They do have a comeback coming up on July 10th with their EP Virtuous and the title track Justice. This EP is a follow up to their Villains EP and the title track OOTD.
As far as Idol groups go, Dreamcatcher are in a league of their own. As others have said, they are very much active, which given they're from a small company is amazing for a 3rd gen Kpop group!
“Good night” by Dreamcatcher is a fairly early work (2017). Miles ahead in terms of music technology at the time, at least in South Korea, where rock influences in K-pop weren't really known. This group has now become incredibly good, especially in live performances. To this day, Dreamcatcher is in a class of its own (singing, rap, dancing, acting) - all 7 members. These ladies are so talented, lovely, attractive... - and somehow positively crazy at the same time. This group is worth discovering. And I'm not even a hardcore K-pop fan. But I make an exception for Dramcatcher. By the way: Dreamcatcher will celebrate its new comeback (10th album) on July 10, 2024. And I'm eagerly waiting for it and hoping for enough comrades-in-arms.

Dreamcatcher are returning on July 10, 2024 with their 10th Mini Album VirtuouS and the title song Justice.
They are called The Face of Rock in K-pop for their amazing blending of Pop-Rock-NuMetal that creates their own original Dreamcatcher Genre.
Goodnight is one of their best songs, but it keeps getting better from there. There's still 7 hours of music in 3 Albums, 10 Mini Albums and tens of other releases to go after that. Without a single bad song. They're some of the most creating and talented artists on the planet today, that's why they have such a big international following.

Dreamcatcher is one of the few 3rd Generation K-Pop group that still active right now. They will release their 10th Mini Album this July 10th, with their second part of VersuS Duology. Through this Duology Series, they reveal that all the lore from their previous album a part of Parallel World, which is a kind of Dreamcatcher's very own Multiverse. A bit similar to Marvel's MCU & DC Universe.
They are very much still active and will be coming back on 10th of July (not much more than a week from now)!

Good Night is part 2 of the Nightmare series, Nightmare series has 6 MVs and an additional one that is an alternative ending. The order is Chase Me, Good Night, Fly High, You and I, What and Piri, and the alternative ending is Breaking Out (It is a japanese release btw).

As all Insomnias say to new reactors… welcome to the Dreamworld! We are so lucky that DC is still an active group who are levelling up with every new release. They are coming back with a new album next week with the title track Justice 😊 With the lyrics video they dropped today… it sounds like they’re leaning into the hard rock with this next comeback.

These debut songs of theirs have some of my favourite mvs, I love the way they have the vibes of The Shining and other classic horrors.
If you're interested in another horror mv, there's a group called Nature (recently disbanded unfortunately) who did a horror music video for their song "Girls"! I don't personally vibe with many of their other songs but that one is one of my favourites and the mv is excellent.

One thing I did want to say tho is that I feel like I’m missing some reactions you did? Because saying that modern Dreamcatcher is “less rock” when you’ve only heard *checks notes* THREE songs out of their seven-year discography is a little weird to me. Besides Chase Me and Good Night from their debut days, you only have a reaction up to Boca, which is four years old now. So how can you say what current Dreamcatcher sounds like…?
That said, they’ve always experimented with their sound while keeping rock and metal roots. Other metalhead reactors I’ve watched compared their last comeback, OOTD, to having instrumental influences from bands like Korn and Nine Inch Nails! And that’s not mentioning their b-sides which include tons of rock anthems, metal riffs, heavy EDM, and even Mathcore. So, maybe wait until you’ve actually heard a decent chunk of their music before blindly judging….? Again, I don’t say this to be defensive or mean, it’s just genuinely confusing. They’ve got 14 mini albums, two full albums, and a handful of other EPs/singles. You’ve heard three songs.

Current Dreamcatcher still has heavier rock songs, you can find it in some of their B-sides, such as Break the Wall and Rising. Could also try Tension.
Their Japanese songs are also heavier, like Endless Night, My Way, No More and Don’t Light My Fire.

Well, since you like the uniqueness of kpop, you NEED to check out B.A.P and MONSTA X. Both groups have had an impact on the current kpop and B.A.P were concept kings. Although they officially disbanded around 2018, 4 out the 6 members are preparing a comeback! 🥳 MONSTA X is the first and only kpop group that has made full english albums and their rapper duo is Cra-ZY! Both groups make more upbeat and raw music, which you seem to like 😉
For first journey into B.A.P I recommend their "One shot" and for MONSTA X their "Shoot out" or maybe their "All in" which is the first of one of their connected series called 'The clan' 😉
You've gotta watch some concert clips, live bands , live singing and epic choreography. Dcs more recent tracks are super heavy still, try some b sides! Maybe Shatter, Rising, Demian and Vision. Love your vids!

Their 4-6 title tracks are also part of this story line, but depending on your interpretation of the story they either come in-between fly high and chase me or after goodnight . Honestly, they have sooo many good songs. The girls are extremly talanted and often get overlooked by the industry. You should definitely check their b-sides. I would recommened Rising(life performance to appreciate their vocals) and Demian cause these songs are recent and show very well how skilled they are

음악이 다소 이것도 저것도 아닌 아쉬움이 많다는 느낌은, 일렉기타의 비중을 배경에만 거의 한정시켰기에 애드립 부재의 이런 음막은 락의 정통성도 희미한데다 케이팝의 범주로 보기엔 다소 어정쩡한 느낌을 전하는 걸그룹같아 되게 아쉽다. 여전의 김완선의 '리듬속의 그춤을'이나 옛날 그룹 듀스의 '사랑 두려움' 같은 곡이나,
이승철 같은 분들의 음악에서 드러난 기타 솔로나 악기 솔로의 비중을 두는 것이 더 어땠을까싶다. 밴드음악이면 일본인데 락음악이 상업적으로 변하는 용도로 쓰이는 것을 싫어하는 음악인들을 많이 보아왔었다. 드림캐쳐 가수로서의 재능은 있는것 같으나, 앨범가치로 본다면 팝 메탈밴드 본조비나 도켄의 음악 하나 정도와는 비교될 수 있어야 안되나.
조회수는 상당한편이다. 이러한 팀이 외국에서 인기있다는 게 다행이면 다행인데 뭔가 락팬들을 수용 한계가 있어 뵈이는게 다소 아쉽다. 댄스 매니아들은 맥락없이 시끄럽다며 싫어할 수도 있을듯. 음악성은 있으나 화룡정점이 아쉽다는 이야기. 개선이 이뤄질지는 잘 수가없네. 피아노라도 솔로 반주를 애뀠으면 어땠을까 하는 생각이 든다. 여튼 보다 진보하는 모습 기대해봐요.
