100% saticfaction. I have never heard a string quartet this beautifull. Their is so much for me to learn as a amateur composer. This is so perfectst intense. It seriously Made me cry
This is such a beautiful arrangement. I keep listening, over & again, being elevated higher. Why is this not more popular? So passing this on to other musicians and music lovers. Please come to San Francisco. Bay area needs to hear this.

Everytime I hear Gymnopedie I picture slow and a bit somber kind of scenery but this rendition paints a more serene, sunlit day with the wind just right kind of mood lol if that makes sense...
Qantas flight entertainment is currently offering Ray Chen's CD with this track. I listened to it repeatedly during a flight from Hong Kong to Brisbane, and now, a few hours later, on RUclips. It is an extraordinary composition, one that leads the listener through many emotions, and these performers endow it with a vitality and purity that brought tears to my eyes. Satie would have loved it. Thank you Made in Berlin.
I too listened to Ray Chen’s The Golden Age CD repeatedly during the long-haul flights with Qantas. I hope Qantas never takes this CD off its Flight Entertainment.
Koncz's composition is a beautiful incorporation of cultures. The French theme is prevalent and true, the big octave chords are so brave and American, and I just love the quartal harmonies! If I could describe it in shorter words, I'd say that this was badass and cute :)
Thank you so much Ray, and crew. I really really enjoyed watching you all play with such passion and sensitivity too....and I really really love ❤️ the enjoyment you gave us all and yourselves!!!!!!! Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Suena maravilloso este cuarteto, excelente interpretación...felicitaciones a los cuatro...Ray Chen....tu violín habla a través de tus manos..me encanta escuchar este video
I went to the live performance in Eindhoven and I must say, it was absolutely brilliant. Highly reccomend anyone to go. Amihai does look a lot more relaxed in this video than he did at the concert. He had his feet really close together during the entire concert, but he played perfect.
Foot tapping is to keep the tempo balanced and playing at the correct speed. It's like a metronome, but using your foot as a beat to prevent rushing. Or its part of the movements.
I feel the original one seems that is about a winter and rainny day. This one seems is about a Summer sunny day, when the Sun starts to rise shy, and get strong with a colorful sky; there's a storm in the afternon, but ends with a still warm and gently sunset 🌅🧡
Can't help it at all. Ray is hands down sexiest artist alive for me. Skills, looks, he is cute, he is fun, he has it all. Amihai is pretty cool, too. Absolutely love this ❤ Listened to it first before watching the video and only then saw that was the viola part ... what a perfect quartett, great to watch them communicate
Just purchased the CD. At first because of the 'Waltzing Matilda', then I found out all pieces in the CD were gems. So precious. Keep my eyes on Ray's musical journey.
Okay, with you playing I'm eager to learn some new pieces and listen to more classical music only because you four sound faboulus together! Especially around 3:00 and 0:30 hit me right in my heart, beautiful
Thank you Ray, You are one of my biggest idols!!! You made me realize how important music can bé and what Beauty IT has. You brought me back into intense practice .(Almost gave Up on my dream) And I still sometimes catch myself playing in your style (facial expression, intense sound). It is impressive how well you fit Into a quartett. It is beautiful. IAM looking forward to competing high in the next few years and making music my job. Kind regards Please remember my Name: Nikolai Litsoukov
Absolutely beautiful arrangement - I love this piece so much, I've been listening to the track for a while on Spotify but was pleasantly surprised to see a live video :)
I think there are several references, but I can only identify the Grieg part and the motive at 2:00 sounds like the intro of Root Beer Rag to me (I don't know if that's intentional, though)
I really don’t like Satie, but this arrangement is mesmerizing. I do believe that’s the true touch of a genius, and I’m talking about Ray here, of course. And, by the way, I never thought I will see Ray performing in a quartet someday, but evidently I’m happy I was wrong.
Ray and Noah...Oh mon dieu...Satie ..this arrangement!! I posted on Facebook...someone sweep me up cause i'm melted into a puddle..Ray will see you Nov 3 Davies Hall SF...1st time seeing / hearing you live..Noah-- don't know when I can hear you live..someday soon i hope while I'm still alive...sending love to all.
agreed. It's sad the views have stagnated. Most comments are from 3-5 years ago. I listen to this all the time and I wish the RUclips algorithm would start recommending it to other people
Wahhh. What a beautiful arrangement. I was surprised to hear strong parts and usually when I listen to gymnopedie on piano it’s quite soft. Arranged well! :]
Bravo - what an amazing and creative arrangement and brilliant performance with a lot of vitality and energy! Looking froward to hearing more from you guys.

*Cellist has ascended to another dimension*
I thought i had to clap at the end. The entire bus thinks i'm weird now
A standing ovation and BRAVO!
😄

🤣👍
Its the end of 2023. I am hearing this for the first time! It is just fantastic!
100% saticfaction. I have never heard a string quartet this beautifull. Their is so much for me to learn as a amateur composer. This is so perfectst intense. It seriously Made me cry
Sounds like someone looking out a window while it’s raining on a gloomy day while the sun peaks out from the clouds
Sounds a little too intense for that,in my opinion
It sounds like a new beginning, like a retrospective change in life
Sounds like the whole world is open up for me✨
This is such a beautiful arrangement. I keep listening, over & again, being elevated higher. Why is this not more popular? So passing this on to other musicians and music lovers. Please come to San Francisco. Bay area needs to hear this.

I know I know we need them to perform this here in SF...are you a musician?
@@Balestrieri-jg5sz thank you so much
Same, same. Totally agree 🙏
He performed in sf last year! It was amazing!
Everytime I hear Gymnopedie I picture slow and a bit somber kind of scenery but this rendition paints a more serene, sunlit day with the wind just right kind of mood lol if that makes sense...
And a tracking shot of a hand going through a wheat field in a summer afternoon
That guy’s cello reverberates so freaking well, holy hell, and it’s definitely in great hands!!
ray chen is the god of legato bowing
Beautiful arrangement, so fresh, original and vital and written amazingly for the strings! And the performance...WOW!
Enjoying each show from Ray.. ❤❤ even just a normal video sharing how he played.

Fantastic performance of a great new composition. I love that tonality has survived and pulled Modernism along with it into the future!
My favorite arrangement of my favorite piece of music. I'm a little obsessed - have to hear it every morning to start my day! Wonderful.
I LOVE this arrangement. IT really woke up the piece and made it ROCK!
That is really awesome. Thanks!
It feels like they were playing in a garden full of flowers on a sunny day
What an arrangement . this really gives the Gymnopedie another new life. I love this.
Much more than arrangement, this is a new composition
This performance is so underrated and underappreciated on RUclips
This has become one of my favorite pieces of music. Beautiful rendition and masterful execution. Bravo, gents!!!
Koncz's composition is a beautiful incorporation of cultures. The French theme is prevalent and true, the big octave chords are so brave and American, and I just love the quartal harmonies! If I could describe it in shorter words, I'd say that this was badass and cute :)
Christopher Vu feels like Satie & Vivaldi had a play date
I've been sleeping on this piece. I had no idea it sounded so magical.
Ray Chen ROCKS!
The entire Quartet is awesome!
That is a really cool arrangement, I love it!
It really souncs great played as a "lusty waltz".
Album songs are great, but hearing them performed on stage melts my ears and heart.🫠🫀❤️🔥
Thank you so much Ray, and crew. I really really enjoyed watching you all play with such passion and sensitivity too....and I really really love ❤️ the enjoyment you gave us all and yourselves!!!!!!! Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
The tapping of the shoes for some reason sounds epic
Suena maravilloso este cuarteto, excelente interpretación...felicitaciones a los cuatro...Ray Chen....tu violín habla a través de tus manos..me encanta escuchar este video
Never get tired of listening to this. It's the music that plays when it's time for my alarm to go off, lol

snoepautomaat64 What else did they play?
those crescendos are so even im crying....
I'm not familiar with this piece, so I'm not sure if the foot tapping is part of the score or not, but I love what it adds to this performance!
Foot tapping is to keep the tempo balanced and playing at the correct speed. It's like a metronome, but using your foot as a beat to prevent rushing. Or its part of the movements.
And yes, there is a chance that it could be part of the score, but over the many pieces I've seen, not one has foot tapping.
While I’m almost certain that the foot tapping is not part of the score, I do agree that it adds to the performance.
@@luke3436 plus it is really hard
it is soo hard that Ray doesn't have to too keep tempo.
sigh
Thanks
This felt like an entire orchestra...not a quartet. Epic playing.
I feel the original one seems that is about a winter and rainny day. This one seems is about a Summer sunny day, when the Sun starts to rise shy, and get strong with a colorful sky; there's a storm in the afternon, but ends with a still warm and gently sunset 🌅🧡
I love these gentlemen, their beautiful music and outstanding performance.
Good evening...what a beautiful interpretation, I love it, thanks for sharing...

Awesome. Two of my favorite violinists of our generation!
I love the cellist's facial expressions!
He is amazing! Go see him in person if you have the opportunity!
gonna practice 40 hrs a day for 40 years and I still won't be this good, Nya!
Just purchased the CD. At first because of the 'Waltzing Matilda', then I found out all pieces in the CD were gems. So precious. Keep my eyes on Ray's musical journey.

After repeating 5 times I now declare myself in love with it
I've been watching it over and over again love it!
Oh, what a gorgeous arrangement. And 03:11 is beautiful.

Absolutely beautiful arrangement - I love this piece so much, I've been listening to the track for a while on Spotify but was pleasantly surprised to see a live video :)
Beautiful performance. They breathe fresh new life into an old overworked Satie piece.
This is a fantastic arrangement of one of my favorite composers. Fantastic job. Supremely fantastic job.
I overheard it on radio yesterday and instantly ran off to my room to grab my phone and shazam it :D Masterpiece!
2:36 is that a Grieg reference?!
Must be.
I think there are several references, but I can only identify the Grieg part and the motive at 2:00 sounds like the intro of Root Beer Rag to me (I don't know if that's intentional, though)
Merveilleux!!

When Gymnopedie nr 1 sounds hopeful...
Thank you. It's beautiful.
Amazing composition, wow!! And played with such emotion. Bravo
Fantastic arrangement! Brings out new energy and life from the piece. It's a gem absolutely! Can't wait for more.

Wow I wish I can experience and feel the joy and satisfaction of playing perfect pieces alongside others.
I think Mr Satie would have LOVED this beautiful arrangement, fabulous!
Magical arrangement and stunning performance. Wow.
Probably my favorite piece ever
Wahhh. What a beautiful arrangement. I was surprised to hear strong parts and usually when I listen to gymnopedie on piano it’s quite soft. Arranged well! :]
Wow!! What a beautiful arrangement!!! Love the tremolos.🎻🎻❤
Wire stands. Probably took 2 hours to get the music to stay.
Satie would ❤️ this arrangement!

Check out the harmonics on the viola! Yaaaassss!
Oh god what an beautifully sound, 4:35 best part!!!
You are in the wrong comment section. Go back to your country music. Need to have some musical intelligence for Satie!

2:55 Love this part.
This is always making me feel so satisfied. I love it just to lean back and let the sounds fill me. If that is a weird english I am sorry :D
any one knows how to get the score? I would love to play that piece with my quartet at the conservatoir! Great work by the way! :)
Yess! Thank you so much. Was just about to ask the same thing
