Unlike what you state in the video, people have continuously lived in the same place in the US for way longer than 500 years. In fact, in many places it could be up to 5000 years - but somehow the Native American inhabitants don't really count as people. This reminds me of Australia, where Aborigines were just classified as 'fauna' until some decades ago. Not meant as a snipe against you Teacher Mike! But If you'll stay in the US, a video about the Native people would be a good idea to set things straight and provide some further teaching...

Don’t worry about parents in Shanghai. We totally went back to pre 2019 days pretty much within 2 weeks. Right now nobody talks about it. I haven’t heard anyone getting it lately at all!
It's not the flu that ever was scary, but the measures. They traumatized people and that's why even foreigners with interest in China are reluctant to get back there.

@@luminouslink777 the Chinese government saw how increasingly untenable the lockdowns were. It won’t come back unless it becomes deadly again. Lots of people think China tried to hold onto the lockdowns to help domestic biotech labs finish their mRNA vaccine trials.

我自己很享受生活在上海的日子，哪裡生活很多元可説是中西文化中心，可惜房地產太貴只能退到廣東中山買房生活。
我是上海人，初中就来到加拿大，但是还是很想念小时候上海的一切，上海生活的便利和热闹是很多地方无法比拟的。我时常也想以后老了可以两边走走。不过去年上海封城看到这么多惨状，我朋友小区就有2个人跳楼自杀，朋友抢不到菜饿肚子！看到视频里老人想去 医院却被门外拦住不让出去，老人下跪都无济于事！
让我惊叹一个好好的城市可以因为一个独裁领导人拍脑袋就做决定封城，不顾民生安全。有时候真的挺愤怒的！虽然疫情似乎渐渐远离，但是只要有这样的独裁领导人时不时发发神经病，老百姓就得跟着遭殃。除此以外，我真的觉得上海是非常宜居的地方！

Just checked and booked flight to Shanghai from London. Around 1500 pounds return. Still pricy but getting to be acceptable.

I haven't seen anything from you lately, since the lockdowns in Shanghai, and looked you up to see how you're doing these days. I was surprised your back in the USA! I have lived in Shanghai off and on for over 25 years, but haven't been back since 2019... As we know why. My wife and daughter are still living there, but I want nothing to do with it now until things change for the better. I saw the days of excitement for the future in China, and I saw it start the nose dive in 2019 and bailed. I wouldn't go back until Xi dies!
Hahaha, you’re much smarter than Mike. For anyone who has a functioning brain, this should never be a question. We all clearly know why. Unless he doesn’t have a mean to survive in the US. But even the Chinese peasants would risk their lives to come to the US.

Actually US’s old buildings, I mean originally preserved ones over at least 100 years, are much more than those in China. Although 5,000 years of history is proudly asserted in textbooks, China in fact lost most of its ancient buildings due to continuous wars, chaos, fires before 1949 as well as the political movements like the Cultural Revolution and large scale reconstruction of old cities after 1949. Only a handful of symbolic old buildings were able to survive. Most seemingly ancient architectures in China nowadays were built in recent years using modern construction technologies and materials as pseudo-classic buildings to attract tourists.

The US does quite well at preserving historical buildings. In Shanghai, I was shocked to see how historical parts of the concessions where basically bulldozed. Nothing but a shame. China has very little respect for maintaining historic structures.

Yep, prepare for the jaw-dropping. The oldest human artifacts ever excavated in US by far dates back as 16,500 years ago.😉
That’s not the point though. You need to understand what we’re talking about here is which country preserves its historical buildings above the ground better, rather than which country has a longer history. Two different things and in this regard, US beats China by miles with all due respect. Americans should be proud of it as well as Chinese are proud of their country’s long history.

China for sure. I was in Shanghai for 3 weeks and had a blast. Hk is nothing compared to mainland China!! If you speak Spanish I would still choose China unless you are mega rich and survive living in cities like Barcelona!
