All Three Jacksonville Railroads (CPKC, NS, BNSF) in action on March 18, 2024

First we caught the CPKC local being led by KCS #2849 & KCS #2819
@0:00 the KCS lash up performs a run around on Henry Street in Jacksonville, IL
@1:00 KCS crosses the Superior St viaduct next to Reynolds
@1:46 the NS local led by NS #3395 running rear foward gave us some nice horn action near the Arnold siding
@2:10 we caught a SB BNSF coal train in Franklin, IL. BNSF #5738 & BNSF #9242 are on point with BNSF #9125 on as RDPU.

Nice video! I’ve going to Jacksonville recently and i just think the rail action there is underrated.

The history of the railroad(s) in Jacksonville is interesting enough. The Chicago & Alton (CPKC), Wabash (NS), and the CB&Q (BNSF) all met in Jacksonville in the northeast part of town which at the time was dubbed "The Northern Cross". Most of the "Cross" portion is still there (although I think CPKC's connection was removed a while back - not 100% sure since I haven't been in that particular area for a while but it makes sense as then-KCS hasn't exchanged traffic with BNSF since the ACH plant closed a long time ago (they took in soybean oil tankers) and NS now exchanges traffic with CPKC in Springfield). CPKC only switches the Reynolds plant and services the Bartlett grain elevator in South Jacksonville. NS still exchanges traffic with BNSF as well as serves the Nestle plant and another Reynolds plant just East of town by the prison. Fun fact: you can still see a Triple Crown road railer service roll through Jacksonville on NS. BNSF just goes through town - no customers in town, unfortunately. Just the NS interchange.
