What's more disgusting is the fact that after he was shot it took him another several minutes to find someone in the surrounding area that would help him, even though there were other homes he went to just to get some help but no one would.

The neighbors are also terrible because they refused to help a child in trouble! Even the person who helped him had him kneel on the ground at gun point. It’s so sad that he was forced to go through a traumatic experience. I hope therapy can help him deal with burdens these events gave him.

A neighbor knocked on my door late last night. I answered with rugged clothes on and my hair wild. We ended up knocking on other neighbors doors at 12am because our complex was flooding. Some answered while others were hesitant. The ones that were hesitant at first, were thankful after we informed them of what's was going on.

Burglars ring doorbells and knock all the time. They want to see if anyone is home. In fact there are ring videos showing you one person knocks, say they have car trouble, then when you open the door, a few more people out of view jump up and rush you. In that video police said never open the door to someone you don’t know. Often what they do is get a female to do the knocking, and then a few guys jump out.

The other user is correct-burglars _do_ ring doorbells in order to determine if people are home. Regardless, what that man did to this teenager is *completely* unacceptable. If that man thought he was getting burgled, then he could have called the police or yelled through the closed door. Hell, he could have merely threatened the teenager with the gun (which I still think is unacceptable but it’s better than shooting him!).

He can’t really follow shows, news anymore, no interest in reading the paper, repeats the same questions over and over. I think this case should be more about how old is too old to have fire arms? Should there be ongoing exams/clearances to pass…like having to retake the drivers test at a certain age? Probably not a popular stance for politicians, as older people vote….

For the shooters attorney to file an order to partially seal the case is just wrong. Like they said, transparency is key. We are tired of these cases, they need to stop. We need as much transparency as possible into all of it. I hope justice is served and this amazing young man can continue to heal.

@@user-mv7kh5sv9z I don’t know that there is or isn’t a record of Lester calling 911. The judge has sealed the evidence in this case, so it can’t be publicized. Regardless, I believe what Lester did was heinous and racially motivated.
What a sweet, smart young man. Such a tragedy, but thankfully not as much as could have been. He reminds me of my son. He's probably going to have PTSD from this and I just hope he gets all the help, care, and support he needs.

Very clear this young man did not pose any type of threat. This was clearly attempted MURDER! 4 days to bring charges but the mother and son was charged within 5 minutes smh.

I remember an article or something saying how he was in shock and just kind of stares blankly. His eyes here seem lifeless recounting the event. I hope he can heal. I'm so hurt that this happened to him. At 5:00 he sparks up talking about he's gonna do what he likes and his best to move one.

Anyone could have made this mistake. It was almost the same address except street vs terrace. How do you fear for your life when someone is simply knocking at your door?

Pardon my ignorance but he got shot in the head and can speak and doesn’t even have a wound.. that’s literally incredible. When I think of shot in the head I just think of a head exploding. What an incredibly strong person.

What an amazing, intelligent, well-mannered young man and wonderful mother and family my heart goes out to such a sweet soul. This young man should have never had to deal with this type of truma.
Unfortunately, because of an old ugly racist he did. I hope the system doesn't fail this young man like it has so many others in the past.

He did not fear one thing. He knew he was safe behind his closed door and decided to shoot through the glass. That's plain hate.
@@UpmostTingz A storm door with a screen or thin piece of glass will not keep you safe if someone wants to get in. You assuming it is plain hate means you have made up a lot of things in your mind without much information.
@@savageinstitute9569 True -- if someone wants to get in. But rationally, that doesn't happen the next second. If he had not acted from fear, he would have waited -- or asked -- to see what would happen next. If someone had started trying to break in, he would be legit justified to shoot.

If you that afraid as soon as you open your door to indiscriminately start shooting out of fear, I don’t think you should be allowed to possess a firearm. A reasonable person would see who is at that door, many times before even opening their door in the first place. There’s no excuse for this.
