Emily you are doing several great jobs, explaining the process, learning the job, doing the job, promoting British farming and Women in farming. What a brilliant channel
Those sandwiches look awesome. When you are ploughing it is important to get the ins and outs right, 1/ for straitnes 2/ To keep the headland the same all away around., for when you plough the headlands. In my opinion it's the best job on the farm, practice makes perfect. In a few years time are we likely to see you at the national ploughing championships. Ploughing is an art. Kevarnland is a good make of plough. That's the open furrow, not the ditch. That's a 5 furrow reversible plough. You can make a scratch mark around the head land if it makes it easier for you. Ask Tom to explain and show you how.
Thank you Mr Crazy these are some sound tips for someone with such a name lol 😂 I will get Tom to go through this with me I must admit I did my bit and I was so excited I didn’t even think about the headlands and then I rang senior lamb and he said he would do them and I was like Damm! Lesson learned I will know for next time! Very pleased I managed to start my ploughing career think this will be ongoing I was saying to Tom be really good to put this video side by side next year with a new ploughing one to measure how far I progress! 🤩🤩🤩🤩 thanks so much for contributing and your kind words about my sandwiches 🥪 🤩🤩🤩
Morning Emily Another great video and varied Please don't take this the wrong way, but thank you for breaking down the GPS tutorial into "farming for dummies", as a viewer for a non farming background, I find the technicality of modern farming amazing, I'm a nosy person by nature, and love to learn the functionality So keep up the great videos and the indepth tutorials, I'd love to hear if your other viewers are as interested to It's easy to say we plough we plant we crop, but knowing how the plough works, I had to ask what a share was An industry that was once very manual and labour intensive has become so mechanised, it's mind boggling Thank you Sorry for the essay lol Geoff
Not at all thanks for the comment and I know what you mean as I go along everything is starting to not seam as overwhelming as it once did but you know I often have to say to Tom just hold on wait start from top please lol I’m so pleased your interested I kinda think everyone will be as before I got to do it I would have loved to have someone explain it abit more simply! I’m lucky with Tom aswell as there are no stupid questions and he will keep going over things for me if I need to! One of the things I do find tough is that people don’t realise I’m not from a farming background and just presume I know what they are talking about or you know if everyone’s chatting and I wanna join in but they have completely lost me in the first few sentences lol I’ll get there I feel like on here we are all learning together! Be amazing when we get through to harvest next year and it will be here before we know it! Thanks for your kind words appreciate you 🤩🤩🤩🐑
Afternoon Emily, hats off to you, giving it a go. Fantastic video You are doing a cracking job educating us non farmers Keep updates coming enjoying your farming experience Geoff
Thank you Geoff! Appreciate you I will keep them coming more coming next week and holiday let updates which I think will be really cool 😎 thanks again for your support 🤩🤩🐑
Good job with the ploughing learning Emily at least you're not afraid to give it a go. You'll only get better as time goes on. As a first year Agricultural Blacksmith/Welder I had to learn how to weld up the worn boards on a plough. Typically in my day farmers were very tight fisted and we'd get the same plough back several times to have the boards re-welded and built up as they were worn away quickly by the very stoney ground. It also didn't help when the farmer or one of his/her workers was standing over you waiting for you to finish so they could get back to work. I'm sure Senior Lamb has shelled out a few quid on spares for that plough.
Oo I’m not sure I will donated have to ask him now and find out! I bet I could learn a thing or two from you I really wanna try welding next you’ll have to post me tips on here! Thanks so much for your kind words! 🤩🤩🤩
You’re dead right about the stony land, Emily. Heavy clay land is always waterlogged and needs lots of drains though light stony land doesn’t hold water in drought. Lucky Tom with your tasty sandwiches 🥪 😋 bucking bronco ploughing 🤠 Maximum Power 💪🏼
Thanks for that I feel we are quite lucky then but I’m sure I’ll find out as I go along it’s swings and roundabout as with most things in life 🤩 haha yes maximum power!!! 😂😂🤩🤩🐑
Aww thank you shout out to your wife ✌️ girl power lol! You can both live through me I know what it’s like I remember driving past Tom on my way to work thinking 1. Will he share his life with me 2. Will he share his tractor 🚜 😂😂😂
What a beautiful day to be outside. Those sandwiches look lovely. It looks to me like you got the hang of plowing pretty quick, although there is certainly a lot more to know about setting it up.
Thank you! Will do! More next week😎 all being well and then going to do some improvements on the holiday let for you all to see which I think will be quite exciting 🤩🤩🐑
Anytime you are preparing the field, from plowing to harvesting, it's farming. 😊 Just remember, accidents happen. It's a good thing you are taking interes in Farming
Very well done Emily. Like you said that was the easy bit but setting them up is different. I haven't done ploughing in a few years lol I used to use a 5 furrow dowdeswell ❤
Thanks so much Paul! Yeah I’m looking forward to setting one up at some point think it will be a real challenge but in a good way! See if I can rope senior Lamb in!! I’m not sure what that is but I will definitely look it up!! 🤩🤩
Greet video, you spoil them with those lovely sandwiches. You seem to be in your element in the plow.tom will have to be careful or you will take his job❤
Emily the farmer ploughing her field. The ditch as you call it is actually called the furrow i'm suprised your Tom didn't tell you that. Keep farming Emily
Hahaha this made me laugh! Yeah they are abit complicated I was talking to senior lamb about this as he doesn’t like driving the newer jcb and stuff cos he happy with what he’s used to if you get what I mean I don’t even know what a 390 is lol although I will find out now! 🤩🤩🤩🐑
I am watching this in bed, after seeing ur sandwiches I had to get up to find some supper.🍨🍺 It's good to see ur skill steering rather than tractor autosteer. Good on yer for doing all these things and sharing it with us. Cheers, Poth.
Thank you Poth! Appreciate you! Glad you like the sandwiches! Sorry to make you get up lol! Yeah although I’m sure that’s something I’ll have to learn at some point too! 🤩🤩🤩🤩
Good evening, Emma. Great video again. You are doing a great job. You better watch as if yo7 do a better job than Tom, and you might end up doing all the farm work and he will just sit and watch you
Hahaha thanks George! I’ll make sure to tone it down abit I don’t want to do all the work while Tom and senior Lamb sit there eating my sandwiches lol 😂 🤩🤩🤩
As someone who has only ever used disc ploughs I still find mouldboard ploughs a bit of a weird idea. And the tiny cutting width -- when I started ploughing we were using a 14' offset disc plough, I think now we have up to a 22' offset disc plough. Not that we do much ploughing any more -- it's not very good for our much lighter Australian soils. Still handy on occasion though. You're doing well with you farming -- not crashing into things is a great first step (ask Tom 🤣!). Those sangas 🥪🥪 looked pretty bloody good too!
I must admit the area it covers does seam very strange as someone that doesn’t know anything about this sort of thing and it’s not what you imagine it’s quite a slow job at that width I will have to talk to senior Lamb and get some wisdom as to why he chose that plough and why we do it like we do, gain abit of insight! Glad you like the sarnies! Lol there will definitely be many more of them! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Hahaha that sounds like I plan Tom and I just have to try not to eat all the sandwiches merchwise Im thinking Emily lamb butter knives who’s with me LOL 🤩🤩🤩🐑
Emily !, could you please move your GoPro camera a little bit slower as your shots keep jerking about and it’s difficult to watch . You are doing just great tho. Can you make me some sannies please ?🤗
Hahaha you will have to fight Tom for the sarnies lol! 😂 I’m actually doing it on my iPhone but I can promise I have been practicing my filming and hopefully you will be able to see me improving 🤩🤩🤩
