Well, in Icelandic and Old Norse, it is technically still incorrect. The 'th' sound would be pronounced like in than or the. The /ei/ constant cluster would be pronounced like it is in nearly all Germanic languages except English. In other words, think of the pronunciation of the word stein, ein, or schwein. It is pronounced identically in every Germanic language except for English.
Minyaw Except it is not pronounced correctly. Yeah, maybe in the game, but an Old Norse or Icelandic-derived name is not spoken anything like how it was said in the review.
I have a PSTV (I buyed for 20€) a PS4 controller and Odin Shere, Dragon's Crown, Muramasa cartridges for VITA. I also have a VITA. I can play those games on my TV or continue playing where I want on my VITA. :3
This was a great review. Sometimes it's really nice to listen to someone who is just really enthusiastic about something. I cannot wait to get my hands on this on Tuesday. Odin Sphere is one of my favourite PS2 games.
An even better version of a game that was already incredible on its own. This is what every remake should strive to be, adding new amazing content and improving pretty much everything that was already in the original game.
Just invested in this game.... best rpg that feels old school I've ever played. This is a all time cult classic must buy. Wish I'd played it years back but glad I've got it now an I'm up for the gorgeous grinding for all the trophies 10/10
I bought this game right as the ps2 was done and PS3 was already out. I never got a chance to go back and play thru it but now i have a second chance with this fitting remaster. Thanks Meghan!!
Bought this back on the PS2 when it originally released... Didn't really like it. Tried the Demo on PS4... Man. What a combat system! I guess I just didn't fully appreciate it back then.
Its a totally different game, because they remade it for PS3/PS4/Vita. They remade the combat similar to Muramasa, added a skill tree, they upped the frame rate, its in HD, they added new bosses, hidden items, a better alchemy system, a better map, and added 200 passive and active abilities. Its like night and day bro.
This game is amazing, I never owned it on PS2 and as soon as I was gonna get it the remake got announced. This is such a beautiful, well-crafted game with super addictive old-school hack-and-slash beat-'em-up-style action
It is not FPSlocked to 60, it drops a decent bit at times but is still much better. You listed cons as you reviewed which you left out in the summary,Reviewers shouldn't be biased, be honest for those who just look for the cliffnotes.
Loved this game back in the PS2, and by looking at the new stuff they have added no wonder it got such a good review. I believe that it's a fair review for this game :D
This is a really cool review. I enjoyed her voice and I could tell she really enjoyed the game. It was one of my most played PS2 games but I do not see myself playing through it again. I did try the demo though. I almost want to play just to experience the fight vs the queen without slowdown. Now a game I would play through again is Dragons Crown. I don't know why they didn't do that one already.
was about to say the same thing lol this is what a real review sounds like. only thing i would like to have seen was a bit more info on the differences between characters during combat. fantastic review though Meg!
Legitimately great review. Enthusiasm is very explanatory of your experience. Actively trying to sell a game you clearly enjoy. 10/10 would consider opinion again.
The game was amazing back then, but that slow down during boss battles... MAN! Going to pick this up soon, still working my way through Muramasa for the first time and Dragons Crown for the second. Love all the changes they added to this as well! Hoping some day to get Princess Crown in NA.
I would settle for a LEGITIMATE Valkyrie Profile 3, instead of that DS game and cell phone game. P.S. TheSoulForge 360: VP Lenneth for PSP already WAS a remake, and they were idiots to release it for a portable system when it is clearly a console game due to long story sequences etc. If they ported it for PSN for PS4 that'd be fantastic, but they're too stupid to do so and I know it.
raven fyhre while I am just reading this 5 months later. Valkyrie Profile is developed by Tri-Ace as we're Odin Sphere is developed by Vanillaware. Tri-Ace just recently released a game called Exist Archive. Which is a spiritual successor to the Valkyrie Profile series!
I got goosebumps from this review. It also might be because it's freezing in my house but I am definitely buying Odin Sphere because of this review!! Thank you :)
We don't start games at a 10 and then deduct points. Common misconception. We match the score to how we would describe the game. In my case, I think it's AMAZING. :D
I have just spent the last few days playing the demo over and over again...that is how good this game is. It were good on the PS2,but this feels miles better. Can't wait !!!!
Never got to play this, but I did LOVE Dragons Crown. I had planned on picking this up even before i saw this review, really looking forward to this. Picked up Valkyria Chronicles last week as well, fantastic remaster. This does however make me crave a PS4 version of Dragons Crown even more.
+Xandredarium Yeah, I really hope we get a Muramasa remake in the near future. Dragon's Crown would be cool too but that one was already 1080p on PS3 so it doesn't need the upgrade as much.
+spooky electric (spookyxelectric) yeah, but allot of people don't own a vita or ps3. we are in a new concol generation now. I own it on vita, but a ton of my friends and family only have a ps4, so they feel left out.
+Xandredarium that too. I have it for my Vita, it's actually what sold me on getting one. That and dragon's crown. both are perfect on vita. Now that I have Odin sphere, I'm feeling spoiled.
I did the same. Although I played the original years ago, I am more psyched about playing through Odin Sphere again than any of these new AAA titles coming out. (I'm also the kind of person that doesn't replay through games very often either unless they are incredibly well done.)
I have a PSTV (I buyed for 20€) a PS4 controller and Odin Shere, Dragon's Crown, Muramasa cartridges for VITA. I also have a VITA. I can play those games on my TV or continue playing where I want on my VITA. :3
first seconds from trailer when tens of valkyries fall from skyes and rush into battle sold this game for me :) and after fully completed it i cannot agree with you more, its a simple but beatiful game
I love this game! I had the original but I didn't get to finish it. I think I was in Velvet's story. One of my favorite things was the alchemy, and the potion making. If I had a ps4 I would buy the remake.
If Leifthrasir had just HD-ified the visuals, & kept the framerate from turning into a goddamn slide-show (PS2 battle with Queen Odette I'm looking at you). But re-tooling the gameplay to make it more fast-paced, smaller gameplay tweaks I didn't even know I wanted, retaining the original story, the ability to play with original gameplay elements if for some reason you don't like the changes, new enemy types... So much that was great. & it went a LONG way toward redeeming the incessant repetition of revisiting locations over & over.
Cons ZERO!!! 1st review ive ever seen from ign where they have listed no negatives which should tell you something about the games amazing quality! Support vanilla ware and buy this incredible game, they deserve to make a profit for remaking this masterpiece
It sure was awesome. Though there was only one thing they could've made to make the game better. A difficulty setting throughout each chapter. Let's be honest, it gets kinda easier as you gain more Phozon Prisms and the further you go, you'd think the enemies would be tougher, well they are, but you got even MORE tough! I think settings between Moderate and Hard per chapter would've been lovely.
I haven't played Leifthrasir, but the original on PS2 was plenty difficult when I first played it. I actually got stuck on Cornelius' book for a good long time and only when I finally grinded my way through it did I get to play as Mercedes and Velvet and realize that the whole game isn't as hard as the time I was having with Cornelius. The Armageddon boss-gauntlet was still reasonably challenging too though, IIRC.
Easily the best remaster ever created, and way better than the original. PS2 just didn't have the horsepower to push the onscreen action that the devs imagined. Damn near everything about this game is good: pacing, graphics, combat, crafting, story, boss fights....everything. Most importantly? Almost every second the power is on you are having fun, no long grinding, no long cutscenes, no long down time, no long travelling, just action and fun every second.
Superb PS VITA release! Always wanted to play the original - now here is my chance - Original OLED screen makes it even more beautifull. SUCH A GOOD GAME!
did I just see something that isn't CoD get a PROPER score wow this bright a tear to my eye cause of this one and only reviewer WHO KNOWS WHAT THERE TALKING ABOUT FOR ONCE is a breath of freaking air I'm....concerned
Looks intersting and quite fun also somewhat hard witch alot of modern games just isnt regardless of genre and even on hard, witch i feel alot of games get a little away from ,but that might just be me, might give it a shot even tough i take ign scores with a grin of salt , still is a remaster that most seem to consider great and somewhat alot of older games hit me far better then newer once do to being harder and so on.
already tried the demo on the vita and it looks absolutely amazing! the graphics, smooth framerate, combat, everything about it,i love it. but the price tho..hahah
Why not just give it a 10? MGS5 have cons but it's a 10? I just don't get it, is it because it's not a triple A game? Or is it because not a lot people are hype or even know that this game exist and suddenly it's a 10/10? + all I hear is positive throughout the review yet it's a 9.5? IGN please explain!
if it had some kinda multiplayer I would like it more than dragon crown. also dragon crown cooking is to awesome. i wish they would just make dragon crown 2 for ps4. to this day dragon crown Vita still has active multiplayer
Of all of this review's virtues, the reviewer's ability to effortlessly pronounce "Leifthrasir" is the most special thing about it.
Thank you! I made sure to look up how to pronounce it before recording the video just to be sure. ^__^
Really great Review - and I have to agree with +d3lvn to be able to say that so effortlessly surprised me too.
Minyaw Except it is not pronounced correctly. Yeah, maybe in the game, but an Old Norse or Icelandic-derived name is not spoken anything like how it was said in the review.
Meg's hot.
Meg, You're attractive to me and I want you to know that. I like sharing.
Vanillaware, creator of beautiful masterpieces.
Muramasa The Demon Blade ❤
Now if only they would port Muramasa to the PS4.
and Dragon's Crown
+Oboro Sensei Muramasa was a wii game, and it got ported to the vita with enchanced features and dlc
just buy a vita
***** i see. well i dont have a ps4 and only had a vita. its my only gaming system whenever i go. especially since im a university student
I have a PSTV (I buyed for 20€) a PS4 controller and Odin Shere, Dragon's Crown, Muramasa cartridges for VITA. I also have a VITA. I can play those games on my TV or continue playing where I want on my VITA. :3

This game is really good, I didn't expect that. The combat system is flawless and you can key bind the move set to make a great combo chain.
I bought this game right as the ps2 was done and PS3 was already out. I never got a chance to go back and play thru it but now i have a second chance with this fitting remaster. Thanks Meghan!!
Thank you for watching! :)
Great Review Meg. Thanks you for your hard works.
Daniel Trevino did you end up liking this Odin Sphere game then?
Daniel Trevino ps2 wasn't done untill 2013 officially
Don't mind me, discovered Unicorn Overlord and loved it, now looking at the other Vanillaware titles.
It aint THE BEST RPG OF 2007 for Nothing~
This game took my breath away GOD ITS SO BEAUTIFUL ❤
Now I can play
Muramasa Rebirth, Dragon's Crown, And Odin Sphere in the palm of my hands
yep. imo games like these are best suited for the vita
Bought this back on the PS2 when it originally released...
Didn't really like it.
Tried the Demo on PS4...
Man. What a combat system! I guess I just didn't fully appreciate it back then.
Nah...the ps2 version was unplayable at times. PS4/PS3 version is way better!
Classic had a POW meter, refine doesn't that's why.
No, it wasn't you, it was the game. The PS2 version had a flawed combat system. The PS4 version overhauled literally everything.
@@Anonymous-x1x Agreed.
Hype! I can't wait to play it. Dragon's Crown was such a fantastic game, and this looks even better! Vanillaware is savage AF.
I like the character design of dragons crown better though
7.8/10 - Too much..... Wait..., there are no Cons!
9.5
9.5
it not call of duty. that is why it a 9.5.
7.8/10 Too much Pros
As if that's a bad score
This game is amazing, I never owned it on PS2 and as soon as I was gonna get it the remake got announced. This is such a beautiful, well-crafted game with super addictive old-school hack-and-slash beat-'em-up-style action
I am playing it right now and loving it. I'm currently Cornelius' story and atm he's my favorite character. He's such a freaking badass.
ps4 is on a roll with great games lately
Just picked this up yesterday having not played the original. WOW! It's my current contender for GotY 2016.
It is not FPSlocked to 60, it drops a decent bit at times but is still much better. You listed cons as you reviewed which you left out in the summary,Reviewers shouldn't be biased, be honest for those who just look for the cliffnotes.

They did 😜
Still not as good as "Cory in the house for DS"
Robbie Kennedy shots fired!!!lmao
My god, why couldn't MIGHTY No. 9 be as amazing looking as this. my god... Soooo much potential for that Mega Man successor...
This game is fantastic. Picked it up for vita last week. Such a gem.
Reminds me so much of Muramasa Rebirth and Dragon's Crown.
Pretty sure dragons crown is made by the same team
I like this reviewer, also this game looks amazing!
Thank you! And it is. :)
Legitimately great review. Enthusiasm is very explanatory of your experience. Actively trying to sell a game you clearly enjoy.
10/10 would consider opinion again.
+Meg Sullivan You're welcome! Looking forward to playing it. :)
Thank you!

The best game on psvita for me.. hands down.
Great game. Great review. Get yourself a channel and focus on RPGs. There's an audience and not a ton of content.
Loving this so much on the Vita. This is a fantastic remake and I highly recommend it!
This was already a great game, now it seems it will become one of the best ever. Cant wait to play it next week!
I got goosebumps from this review. It also might be because it's freezing in my house but I am definitely buying Odin Sphere because of this review!! Thank you :)
An IGN reviewer that did not make me want to smash my face into the desk?
I remember the last time I got everything right on a test, and still got 9.5 as a result.. That's life.
We don't start games at a 10 and then deduct points. Common misconception. We match the score to how we would describe the game. In my case, I think it's AMAZING. :D
I understand that, but its kinda strange, still.
I still don't understand too...
thiagots85 wow in not ps3 is hard about dis
This is a game I might actually check out! Thanks for the review!
Thank you for watching! It's an amazing game. It really is. ^__^
Just got the Storybook Edition. It's cost me quite the pretty penny, but it's worth it.
Oh my God! you just sold me
I loved Muramasa:Rebirth and Dragons Crown which I loved to pieces and this looks right in that vein
Storybook edition is only $63.99 with Amazon Prime and a demo is available on PS Store. It looks and plays awesome!
I have just spent the last few days playing the demo over and over again...that is how good this game is.
It were good on the PS2,but this feels miles better. Can't wait !!!!
Just got my copy today for the Vita. Super stoked.
"-to preform CRAZY long combo chains"
so you can do combos ON combos to rack up your score...and I know you like that combo on combo action ;)
Very pretty, I'll give it a try.
This is game is amazing! We need more games like this one, Muramasa, and Dragons Crown! if not for these 3 games I would have never bought a Vita.
I have dragons crown, on Ps3 already, do I need this?
Yes
Never got to play this, but I did LOVE Dragons Crown. I had planned on picking this up even before i saw this review, really looking forward to this. Picked up Valkyria Chronicles last week as well, fantastic remaster. This does however make me crave a PS4 version of Dragons Crown even more.
I wish they would release dragons crown for ps4....
+Jonathan Geaorge That and Muramasa ReBirth, i want that even more. That on PS4 would be amazing.
+Xandredarium Yeah, I really hope we get a Muramasa remake in the near future. Dragon's Crown would be cool too but that one was already 1080p on PS3 so it doesn't need the upgrade as much.
It would be cool if they combined Dragons Crown and Muramasa into a collection.
+spooky electric (spookyxelectric) yeah, but allot of people don't own a vita or ps3. we are in a new concol generation now. I own it on vita, but a ton of my friends and family only have a ps4, so they feel left out.

Preordered months ago. Vanillaware always delivers.
Right? I have more fun with their side scrollers than AAA open world games.
I did the same. Although I played the original years ago, I am more psyched about playing through Odin Sphere again than any of these new AAA titles coming out. (I'm also the kind of person that doesn't replay through games very often either unless they are incredibly well done.)
That's because though they are 2D, they somehow have more depth than the 3D games. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
when it's a game no one knows about so you're to afraid to give r a 10
Lol
I didn't give it a 10 because I don't consider it a "Masterpiece." I DO however consider it AMAZING! Thanks for checking out the video. :)
Meg Sullivan Holy crap! Are you the reviewer?!
there is a difference between flawless and perfect. score seems fine to me and im a huge vanillaware fanboy lol
+vVAstrAVv Uhh... what is the difference?
I have a PSTV (I buyed for 20€) a PS4 controller and Odin Shere, Dragon's Crown, Muramasa cartridges for VITA. I also have a VITA. I can play those games on my TV or continue playing where I want on my VITA. :3

I have the original but I'm honestly tempted to get this shiny new one with the art book
I love this game! I had the original but I didn't get to finish it. I think I was in Velvet's story. One of my favorite things was the alchemy, and the potion making. If I had a ps4 I would buy the remake.
Maury is my favorite character. His voice makes me get hungry.
On sale right now on PSN, please buy it now.
Just did lol, good looks!

Terrific remake. I hope Square Enix takes notes from this on how to properly remake a great game.
Cons ZERO!!! 1st review ive ever seen from ign where they have listed no negatives which should tell you something about the games amazing quality! Support vanilla ware and buy this incredible game, they deserve to make a profit for remaking this masterpiece
9.5/10 it an classic Remaster but no cons
"Remake"
Not a remaster
blahblahblahblahnogameisperfectblahblahblah
Well, maybe the mild repetitive of the game.
It sure was awesome. Though there was only one thing they could've made to make the game better. A difficulty setting throughout each chapter. Does the PS3 version come with 60 FPS or is it only for the PS4? I'm mulling whether to get the PS3 version now or wait when I eventually get a PS4.
Superb PS VITA release! Always wanted to play the original - now here is my chance - Original OLED screen makes it even more beautifull. SUCH A GOOD GAME!
How is the orginal version ? İs it worth 10/9 or 10/8 ? I can't afford a ps4 but the game looks cool so maybe I can play it on ps2?
Back on Ps2 ithought this game gave final fantasy a run for their money on beautiful graphics. Its still one of the prettiest games ive played.
did I just see something that isn't CoD get a PROPER score wow this bright a tear to my eye cause of this one and only reviewer WHO KNOWS WHAT THERE TALKING ABOUT FOR ONCE is a breath of freaking air I'm....concerned
anyone know the name of that music at the start?
"Great Story", hmmm?
if you thought Shou Tucker and Ikari Gendou aren't bad enough, I'll present to you ... Odin! :v
Type project x zone?
how much is it on PS store right now? as digital download?
since i dont have a ps4 or any of those i went back and started playing the ps2 version and im so adicted!
You don't have a PS3 either? I'd get one. You can find them for super cheap right now.
OmegaMetroid93 i had a ps3 but dont really need it
designRpt So you sold it? That's a shame. A toooon of good games on that system. lol
OmegaMetroid93 i had to sell it unfortunatly
OH MY GOD. IGN. Stop giving games with no criticism scores less than 10. Botw gets all the criticism it deserves but still gets a 10. What the hell?
Are they ever going to give Muramasa Rebirth this treatment?
I wish Muramasa Rebirth and Dragon's Crown would get the same treatment on PS4.
i totally agree man...Muramasa is a really hard game to get on the wii...and i dont have a vita..so fingers crossed for a ps4 version
Yep, don't have a Wii or Vita so I want both of those on the PS4. Let's hope it happens!
just a get PSTV, they have been as low as 20 dollars
Cyberjin No thanks, not interested in anything outside of PS4, Xbox One and Wii U.
Where can i find it?! It's not on Playstation store!?
hell yeah, looks awesome. I'm glad I preordered the story book edition
is it 60 fps on vita too?
I think it is 30 fps but I played the demo and I didn't see a lot of slow frame rates. It is a good port !
it's also 60 fps. I would know because I got it for both ps3 and vita
60FPS on Vita with very infrequent drops below.
60FPS on Vita with very infrequent drops below.
Ive seen a lot of this reviewers videos and i always agree with her she has good taste.
Damnnn!!! One of my best game in PS2. And I would definitely play it again!
I'm not usually one for Remasters but in this case I'll make an exception!
This game, FF 12 remake, new Kojima game, VR headset getting released in October, RE 7, definitely getting a PS4.
Not to mention FF15 in September, Persona 5 later and then world of Final Fantasy. Get a ps4 dude! xD
+Rinoa Heartilly ff15 november 29th new release date
Sony been killing it this year.. Ratchet & Clank 2016, Uncharted 4, Alienation, Odin Sphere, and next is Thumper. If only we get another Wipeout!
Can I play it on pc? Is it available for pc?
Looks intersting and quite fun also somewhat hard witch alot of modern games just isnt regardless of genre and even on hard, witch i feel alot of games get a little away from ,but that might just be me, might give it a shot even tough i take ign scores with a grin of salt , still is a remaster that most seem to consider great and somewhat alot of older games hit me far better then newer once do to being harder and so on.
this is how remasterd games should be, instead of just only bumping up resolution.
already tried the demo on the vita and it looks absolutely amazing! the graphics, smooth framerate, combat, everything about it,i love it. but the price tho..hahah
As someone who loved Muramasa, i really want to play this game.
Muramasa took a lot of things from Odin, you'll love it. (Have you played Dragon's Crown?)
IGN and other review sites have explained this before. Games don't start at 10s and then go down due to cons.
even with the girls i cant play side scrolling games anymore. would have loved this in 3d
About how long is this game? Answer please, i might buy it
Wow I'm glad they remade this because that chuggy feelings made it really hard to play later in the game. I'm about to download it. Ow
60 bucks is a bit steep. Looks great though.
Yeah I agree, if this was 40 then I'd cop.
The game lasts 40 hours, so it's kinda sad to say no to 60 bucks just because of its style. Support the devs.
Its chaper now.
This remake looks impressive, I LOVE ODIN SPHERE and I totally going to get this!!!😍😍😍
I might have to download this on my vita for now and then continue my game on the ps4 pro when my system gets shipped!!
The music in this game is BEAUTIFUL!
Think I'll buy this right now, game looks beautiful so it does.
why cant this be on steam
Is the vita version also 60 frames per second?
I heard this is quite a difficult game. Is it more difficult than Muramasa? I quite liked Muramasa on Wii except for it was occasionally repetitive.
will it soon come out for pc?
And there it is.
nope. now go away
if it had some kinda multiplayer I would like it more than dragon crown. also dragon crown cooking is to awesome. i wish they would just make dragon crown 2 for ps4. to this day dragon crown Vita still has active multiplayer
