The Cinematographer's Best Kept Secrets Director / Cinematographer Matthew Rosen explains the The Mylar Technique. A pro. lighting effect that can be done on the cheap.
From the title, I thought this would be about using frosted translucent mylar for diffusion, so the "slivered" mylar effect was totally unexpected! I wonder if you could get a more "light reflecting off a pool of water" effect if the strips were strung more-or-less horizontally between two rods, somewhat loosely, then the fan blowing lightly on the strips, and lights aimed down into the strips, bouncing up?
Before I start watching your video I just want to congratulate you for you successful and beautiful film; Quezon's game. I watched it here in cagayan de oro city, i really like it. Cheers!
Why you do not create a paid training series for lighting, your work is very awesome, we want to see more, do you know what we like in your tutorials that you do not use expensive gear
So thankful to have a working industry pro demonstrating real techniques. Your tutorials are solid, practical and actionable.

As always, simple but complex effects. Thank you!
Very Use-full!
You can also use the light reflection of a gel to get a similar effect. 4x4 CTB works great.
