      Spot on. Some color work could be done to pull it all together a bit. I think he could also have done a rough model of his terrain for the ground effect to interact with, or simply warp it in compositing. It's strange for the shockwave to be flat on a mountainous terrain.
      The $20 thing was probably just for the youtube title. The dirt explosion wouldn't be much harder to make in Houdini, he could have done it himself. But the true cost that he's comparing to (that of the Iron Man VFX budget) includes labor, software licenses, hardware, and the other 99% of the movie.

      @aitharel3009 22 дня назад

      I'm sure he likely knows the differences himself but probably rushed for video, it's all just really time consuming after all. Though I mean the colour grading definitely needs work.
      Like if you wanted to pick out a lot of it you could, E.G his stock footage needs work, scale and atmospheric perspective is just super important in a scene like this. His explosion sim is far too fiery, his shockwave doesn't follow the ground in the stock footage, the secondary missile plumes are far too large, even the "explosion" to release the smaller missiles are off cadence and lack that impact. The missile launching scene, the scale to original is obviously off, being so close to the launch there would be so much more impact.
      Overall IMO the comp and scale is the biggest problem

    The thing wrong with 99% of these comparisons is they either say the films total budget which covers catering,makeup,insurance ,salaries,camera rentals,location rental etc for the WHOLE film. Or they only mention VFX budget which they rarely do because rarely public information. The reality is some million dollar movies have $500 shots in it. Not saying this is one but the reality is this shot even for them didn’t cost millions. Great work though!

    Hi, I think there is an issue with the sound. The sound of the explosion should be delayed. First, you see the explosion, then you hear the sound (if the explosion is not near you). At a distance of 5 km from the missile explosion, the sound will reach you in 2-3 seconds, so keep that in mind. Also, the sound should start at maximum volume and then fade out. It shouldn't gradually increase to maximum before fading.

    • @Archesio_Palackante

      This comment is very accurate. Dont forget that the ground recieve the impact, so its not to wrong to think about 3 or 4 seconds of delay since the presion come from the explosion, its not just a sou d of voice, like the Beirut Explosion of 2020. The same point was said it by my 9 years old son. And i told him... first to all its a very good video and its a lot of work behind.

    Great work! As an "audience member" the one thing I really prefer in the original is when the 24 mini rockets pop out, they all do so with more random orientations. So when they activate you see cool curved smoke trails as they reorient themselves to get back on target. I find this more visually interesting/dynamic and less artificial/"procedural" looking (even if in reality your version where they all pop out more or less facing the same direction might be technically more accurate).

      the recreation for me is physically more accurate than the original. Aerodynamically speaking the fins on the rockets would help the rockets stay pointed in the direction of flight, that is why they are there. drop a bomb from a bomb rack on a b17 bomber and the bomb will still go in the direction the plane is flying. force is a vector. Adding a side ways force to an object in flight will only cause small deviation in the direction of travel, but small deviations can turn into a big mess if you are trying to be precise. that missile wasn't meant to be precise. it was meant to destroy a large area with as little effort as possible

    One big difference is that tony's clothes react to the shockwave by billowing, your clothes don't. Also the missiles after popping out don't spread out far enough to fall over such a wide area, they look like more of a cluster bombardment of a smaller area

    Idk what all the rest are jabbering but if I had to guess which one was worth $20 and the other million...yours is the million dollar jackpot!! Freaking amazing!! I can only imagine what you're capable of if you were given that million... hope someone is listening out there...give this kid the freaking keys he's got what it takes to make a film

  • @ronny332
    @ronny332 2 месяца назад

    Well, that's how technical improvements work. Somebody has an idea, creates a very complicated method to make it happen, and later on a bunch of companies do their best to use this idea and make it "clickable" for everybody.
    So comparing a multi million dollar movie to a 20 dollar software, over 15 years later, isn't right. It just shows, how complicated things can get overused and made simple in the handling.
    That's what happens to everything, especially for everyday products like TV sets for instance.
    Inventing the first mobile phone in the 80s was a hard task, going from there to the iPhones of today is just evolution combined with other benefits like shrinking structures over time.
    edit: I read my words again, and I don't want to reduce the result of your work. The resulting video is awesome. So my respect, looks great.

    The title as it is right now feels misleading. Great work for the project, but a better title would be "remaking VFX of iron man DIY" or something. You are using professional equipment which has nothing to do with budget production of 20 $. In 2024 just the loan of 1 hour of working might already exceeds 20 $.

    Wow man. It is awesome how you managed to make such an incredible video with only $20. I love that the title of the video perfectly reflects what is going on and is not in the slightest bit clickbait, good work! Let's say a Computer capable of decent rendering abilities is something everyone has (even though they don't. Having experience with VFX software is learnable for less than $20 yes, but it takes longer than earning your first $20. You really have to show us how you managed to get a Tesla model 3, some kind of camera drone, a camera that has decent recording quality, a tripod, a houdini license for commercial use but let's say you don't need that. So let us say that you used the $19 for some assets. That would leave you with about $5 minus $4 and leave you with $1 to work with. Now let us say you found a tesla model y on ebay (which was broken) for $0.35 bought it, repaired it and did the same with a remote controlled drone for video cinematics which maybe cost about $0.05, now another $0.50 for the tripod, $0.05 for a camera which you also repaired. That leaves about $500*10^-4 for the rest of your budget.... Can you find on what he spent the rest? I couldn't! This video seems fully legit. The end result definitely looks more than 10 times better of what I'll ever make in my life when I try to recreate a VFX scene from Ironman BUT I think that your budget is pretty... Well, fu*ked. Kind regards, Me

    you nailed the youtube stuff! I love watching these! one small thing I noticed is that you leave your end work a bit unfinished, like you are in a rush, because I definitely for example know you noticed the smoke on the small missiles is fading away in the original movie clip vs your clip. maybe this is intended on your side or your time does not permit it.
    either way, kudos, I'll keep watching them all!
