So for the timeline of the series it goes Dragon Ball Dragon Ball Z Dragon Ball Super Dragon Ball GT This is the order based on the years the event happened. Before Super released in 2015 there was only three dragon ball series and the story ended in GT. Due to Super releasing and it being cannon the events of GT dont make sense anymore. This and the fact that Toriyama had no involvement in GT makes the series almost impossible to place on the timeline makes many people say its not cannon anymore (The writer of GT did say it cannon but I won't delve into that.)

Buu's clothes are basically his skin, he's a creature created from magic so his skin can just look like whatever clothes he wants, in this case he makes it look like whoever he absorbed
The reason buu has the same clothes as goku is because when buu absorbs people he takes on parts of them. Before he absorbed gohan he absorbed piccolo first then gotenks and then gohan and he had parts of their clothing so you knew who he absorbed. He had piccolos thing he always wears, then he had the vest on the Potara fusions wear (which is why people called him Buutenks) and then he absorbed gohan and he got part of his gi (this form people always call Buuhan) and that form is his most powerful. People can try and claim its kid buu but goku and vegeta stood no chance against buuhan while ss2 and 3 goku fought not necessarily even with kid buu but enough that he wasn't getting clapped like he was against buuhan
