    That is really an ingenious system. The power of simple machines, eh?

    I now own an old bon-air ba-1400. It's a hard-wall pop-up.
    But someone had removed the external lift-arms. The previous owner rigged it with a hokey way of lifting the top, but it's not safe or ideal. I'm looking to get proper lift-arms installed again. Pretty sure most will work, as long as they are strong enough and have enough lift height.

      Check with our friends at canvas replacements dot com. They have a universal lift system that should work on your Bon-air.

    I have a Coleman Fleetwood Sedona and I have a broken cable on the lift arm to the right of the door. I'm not sure how many cables in the lift arm but it seems like it almost reaches the top with the camper fully extended. Is this an easy fix?

    What is "a good quality spray lubricant"?

    • @popupcamperpro
      @popupcamperpro  3 года назад

      Most commonly silicone based, but it's a personal preference of use vs conditions.

  • @giuliettamiller2797
    @giuliettamiller2797 3 года назад

    Do the stage pulleys need lubricating? I just watched your lift system maintenance video which mentioned using spray lubricant on the lift arm pulleys but did not address these specific cables. Is that because these do not need lubrication (only the exposed underbody cables do)? Thank you!

      It would not hurt, but they are very difficult to get to without removing the canvas, or the lift arms.

    On the lift arms at the top that bolts into the roof what kind of bolts and nuts. Are they lock nuts and do we leave a little play and how much

    • @popupcamperpro
      @popupcamperpro  3 года назад

      These are 7/16 locking nuts. They should not be tight. A little play is recommended.

      @@popupcamperpro thanks for your answer to this question. Just removed the roof, replaced the ceiling and reinstalled on my 12' Fleetwood Utah. Bolts through the lift arms to the roof brackets were very loose, probably 1" to 3/4" from fully tight. I will assembly with "a little play". (somewhat less than 1")

    Hello,
    I have an odd question. I am looking at a 1984 coleman. I plan to remove all the canvas and turn it into a one man band stage with music gear pre set up. How high, after cable adjustments, would the roof go with no canvas. Normal height plus ??? with no canvas. I'm concerned about the visual clearance to perform standing up. I'm 6' tall. Thanks

    • @popupcamperpro
      @popupcamperpro  2 года назад

      Hello again Tom! at 6.5 foot myself certain units are almost to small for me. In the model specs link at my webstore you can find the open and closed heights of the units you are considering. You also should be able to remove the end stop at the whiffle tree and gain just a bit more of height with no canvas attached.

    Hi,
    In a structure formed by 4 columns of elevation. To lift 315 inches, what is the maximum weight that can be lifted?

    • @popupcamperpro
      @popupcamperpro  3 года назад

      Daniel, good question! The larger roofs use more robust whiffle trees. Ball bearing styles carry the most weight.

      Hello Nathan! This is controlled by the pre set stops on the whiffle tree. You can find your models height located at the models specs link.

      darizo The mounting nuts at the top of the lift arm. They don’t need to be tight, they can be just snugged if you wish. Tightening them completely can exert forces on the lift arms that they are not designed to handle.
