I play two-handed and I'm slow, anywhere from 10-12 mph (I am 57, started bowling late in life, don't have great legs and will never play faster using leg speed). Weak balls work best for me. At my slower speed, the stronger (and pricier) balls can easily overpower me and I have to move far left and stay there. I purchased the Tropical Purple Surge, 14 lbs., last month and then fractured two ribs and didn't really get a chance to use it. These last few days I have been getting back into bowling and today started league again and used the Surge. Out of the gate, strike, 9 spare, six strikes and then faltered a bit at the end but closed with a 231. Not bad for me. I'm not one of those guys who lives north of 225. I do get there and sometimes top 250, but scores that high are far from a weekly thing for me. Anyhow, I really like the Surge (also the Brunswick Twist). It has a great smooth roll and I control it instead of it controlling me. I did falter in the second game but I think it was me, not the ball. I think I just let up on the process that was giving me success and paid for it. I suppose that is the mental game affecting my physical game and I definitely have to work on that. I bowl on several leagues for fun but of course I want to improve. But at my age, I'm not interested in tournaments other than the occasional adult/child with my son. For some people weaker balls are better. I am not aware of a RUclips channel that caters to slower players (with tips and strategies) and I've been tricked several times into buying balls that really didn't work well for me but worked great for the young and stronger guy throwing them. Bowl and learn. At the end of the day, though, I love it and the stronger balls are a challenge (I have been known to hook the lane like Belmonte but it isn't the way I want to play as a regular thing). Wish I discovered bowling earlier in life.

I use mine at Woodland every Sunday morning, because the lanes are so dry. Also use it for a lot of spares in league play. I'm 53, and this was my first ball when I started rolling 2 handed last year.
I used to throw a Tropical Storm from years ago. Used it on very dry conditions as the ball is shinny and does not hook that much. I now use a Hustle camo as my go to dry ball. Last week shot a 233 with that Hustle during last game of league season.
great ball for going with Norm Duke says. Straighter is greater. i had a couple of Topical breeze's, great for the very dry conditions and saying straight down and in.
Honestly nothing wrong at all about that ball. Rolled very true. If you use it at South Point you just have to move right and go more down and in and you will be fine.
I agree, I use balls that are less aggressive like the Hammer Raw black and the Hammer Axe since i dont have high revs or high ball speed. Would the Tropical Surge work for a full roller? Im thinking of switching since my hand is all messed up.
@@Orion-li2xt Tropical Surge would be a great Full Roller ball. Go with pin 2" from grip center, 45 degrees down. That will work great for you.
I have the Tropical Surge as my spare ball and works great on burnt up lanes where everything wants to hook too much...
I had to bust out my beginner ball last night, everything was hooking like crazy, my hammer raw was nailing the pocket
I have a red hyrbid Surge that is drilled really strangely, for a simulated urethane look. I don't use it much, but I keep it around just in case things get weird. My home center likes to hook a lot and some of the pairs are unplayable for my game at times. There's a guy who is on the regional tour, a two-hander who as far as I know only uses a Surge in league. It's all he needs most of the time
That coverstock has been around a while, it was nice on the Street rod solid way back, very useable back then
My first ball was the emerald surge last year. It was a decent ball for starting out!

Think you can eventually make a comparison between a shiny surge and this 2000 grit surge! I have the shiny would love to see the difference, with the shiny I’m able to play at board 30 throw out to the 8 board and hit flush 😂
Just get a pad or 3 and see for yourself. You may find 2K 3K or 4K might work for you.
Tropical Storm was my first ball over 13 years ago. I just switched over to my 2nd ball and which I chose a Black Widow 3.0
The Tropical Surge pearl isn't a bad ball, it's just way too clean for using on anything other than dry lanes in my house. If the solid picks up earlier, it might make a good house shot ball in my house... especially for slower speed or very dominant bowlers.

I use a Black-Cherry , Hybrid for league. Older lanes & light oil. Works great.

Great ball for slower ball speeds --gets down the lane real easy. Mine is shined up and has lots of punch once it gets down lane and sees the friction.

The specs are so similar, the rg and diff are nearly identical, and the same cover in reactor.
Nice to see storm continuing to play with the stats for the tropical Series. The surge will rank weaker than the heat, but much stronger than the breeze or original storm.
I’m not entirely sure what the solid being 2000 was such a big deal is for you picking a ball?? A tropical heat solid with a 2000 grit would be stronger??? It’s not like OOB surface indicates performance

I think I recall some content on old Thrills when they had the flux core .15 diff. That would probably be the lowest reactive ball diff you have thrown 😀

I have the tropical surge purple gold 2.60 min diff 0.25 out of box 1500 grit polished funny u made this video games I did a surface change to 2000 awhile back it’s not bad but for throwing for fun is good but I attend to use it as my spare ball haha
It's cool seeing the lower end balls going down the lane for one of these videos. For the last couple of weeks for league, maybe bring out some older ones from earlier in the season. Sublime, TNT Infused, Xponent...

Good video as always. One of my friends why bowl with has the tropical and a different shade of purple but don’t think it’s the tropical surge. I try to ball more straight, but he really masters the straightness but now he’s thinking about getting a ball that hooks more.
Luis I have a few personal questions for you. Don’t worry it’s all about Bowling nothing outside of that. That is there are so many different bowling alleys in Las Vegas and the surrounding area. What are the main reasons why you like Sam’s town and Southpoint the best? I think you said you like Samtown’s the best. but you bowl league at Southpoint? I was thinking myself why not join a league at Samstown? I know and a couple of videos we went to Sunset Station. I think that would be cool if you get back there sometime a couple other times you want to Suncoast it would be nice for you to get back there plus I think there’s another one. I don’t know if you were there but it’s another good one in Vegas called Gold Coast, I think there’s more in Las Vegas too so if the situation fits to keep it fresh if you want to, can you do some more videos at different bowling alleys in the Las Vegas area?
Finally Tomorrow what is your guess of what the next storm Bowling ball will be? my guess is it will be either a phase 6 a summit solid or another IQ. What are your thoughts? Take care God bless you and your family.

Drill about 9 a yr average. I notice a decline in the mix and more eyes on the surge.
Id like to see this compared to the hustles, because if a hustle is more versatile there's no point in owning a tropical surge

I never drilled one but I want to there’s a Lotta new balls I want to drill and try out I do have the DNA and I love the ball. The ball is a hook monster are used it in league and it is awesome and I plan on getting the new dna 🧬 bowling ball to put into my arsenal, and I also plan on getting a spare ball because I need to work on my spares

You're funny that ball you have control so you just like high price ball lol😅 I have a few high price balls that take control of me but I have 3 raw Hammer 🔨 bowling balls and I bowled 6 300 games with because I have control and I can play far right hit the five board and hit the pocket all day long.
