This is a lesson to most House Shot league bowlers who would be much better served with a lower level ball like the Surge than the latest hook monster that tends to burn up or get trapped in over/under on the excessive friction of House Shots.
True, but still depends on your style and where you bowl. I'm speed dominant and my center's house shot is slick and the lanes have a reputation for being very tight. I throw something strong and aggressive that still hooks with speed and without a lot of hand, and that works great for me under those conditions.
I had two Tropical Surge balls, loved them both but I got rid of them because they were getting too light for me(they were both 12 pounds) and since then we’re getting too light I got two 14 pound balls, a Storm Hy-Road and a Roto Grip Uproar.
I bought the emerald charcoal tropical surge on sale three months ago. Husband said don't waste your money, I said if it's no good I will use it as a spares ball. Thinking about buying a couple more just to have as spares. Now I have all these high dollar balls just sitting in my 4 ball bag, never being used.
There is something to be said about the higher amount of asymmetry in the ball with the thumb hole in it. With a ball that's lower level like this it affects the reaction a lot more. All that to say the "it's the ball" statements could have merit.
As a 2 hander I'm not real happy with my surge. Dont know if it is a layout issue or a axis rotation issue with 2 handers now. Look how much pin action difference there is between these guys shots. The 2 handed shots all seem to hit softer. My 20y old brunswick missle hits like a tank no matter where it hits. The surge only hits hard on a Brooklyn. It is also not a forgiving on dry lanes as surge suggests. Once I see some lane transition, mine will hook from the 3 to the left gutter. Not giving up yet, but close.
Do you have your PAP? (Positive axis point). All of your equipment should be drilled based off of that measurement. Makes a huge difference in consistency
@@ForrestKritzer yes, have my PAP but the layout was just a baseline layout since we didn't know any of my other stats. I'm starting to think I'm more rev dominant than the layout likes. Thinking of having it redrilled to a weaker layout to see if that makes any difference. Hate to put more money in a budget ball but don't want to buy another ball and end up with the same problem.
@@SovietWarMusic thinking they come with a 2000 finish. Dont think I should need to go any smoother than that. I'm believing it is a layout issue. My shop just had my PAP with no other stats so we did a baseline layout they start with. I'm going to start there instead of spending the money on another ball.
The ball is good but it doesn't respond well to carry down. So if you're trying to use this ball mid day after all the house balls being thrown it's gonna be inconsistent
It's just marketing when the ball companies and their proxies promotes expensive hooking balls on heavy oil. There is no such thing as ''beginner '' or ''entry level'' ball, if they are great for that lane oiling, it is then a great ball.
I bowled a scratch 8 gamer on 2022 Open Championships team pattern out here in Riverside CA, placed and cashed in 11th out of 75 people, throwing a brunswick Slingshot taken down to 500 on the surface with lane shine. Then end pair at 39 and 40 killed my total score but I should have been prepared for the dry lol.
I have a Brunswick Rhino & Uppercut. Both can be considered beginner balls, but then again, I'm not bowling competitively or anything close to it, other than for the love of the sport, so that's good enough for me. 👍 🎳
You do not need a multi-thousand dollar inventory of balls to be successful! You are on the way to proving my point. Thank you for this video.
Lost it at "IT'S THE BALL!" 🤣
Kritzer one of the cleaniest styles I've ever seen.
Love Forrest's attitude! He is such a great bowler and very humbled, undeniable that's why he is so good!!!
Thank you very much!

Very true my friend!
I throw a Hammer Raw. Works absolutely great on a house pattern.

My primary ball.... and only ball since I started bowling. For me, definite problem with the bowler (inconsistency), not the ball.

I just bought that ball to learn how to bowl. So that's cool that pros actually say it's good.
It’s not the ball it’s the player

I have my son bowling with a tropical surge right now. He loves it.
I picked one of these up about a month ago, this ball is a beast on a regular house, and league shot....
Mike would have won, if he wore the Dino costume. Great video guys keep it up guys.
If the Hustle INK was offered again I'd buy 3 or 4 of them. Great example of a low end great ball.

My 1st ball I still love it its consistent on a house shot n at 360-500 on it I use it on sport shots too preferably shorter ones
What weight? I got a 15lb surge yesterday and it seems cumbersome
Great vid guys. btw 1 hand is always better lol
Than tools make the handyman. Therefore IT IS THE BALL

@@justziptieit8428 No, the Surge comes at 1500 polish(roughly 5300 grit) and idk what the Missile comes at but it's def shined by now
"Why's he so gooooood?" Cause 1 hand is better than 2 hands xD
What surface did you put on those? Looks pretty dull for a Surge.
That is out of box finish
After fitting, drilling, grips, a thumb slug or an IT lock and sleeve install, you might end up paying more than 90$
That has nothing to do with the cost of the ball. We all know the added expenses of buying bowling balls.
This is my first time on the channel but I already know your one of those high rev one handers
Nice shirt! When where you on Kauai!
We usually try and go once a year
Quick question:
How much did that ball cost you??? I don't think you mentioned it in the video.
$90! Lol😂
Forest, how many 300 games do you have?
20 sanctioned. Several more unsanctioned
Love the content bro
Thank you bro😎
I would love for this guy to come to Raleigh nc and coach me for 1 hr dude is a beast
Good vid
The ball is good but it doesn't respond well to carry down. So if you're trying to use this ball mid day after all the house balls being thrown it's gonna be inconsistent
It doesn’t respond well to house ball carry down. But it responds great to league/tournament carry down
Nice

Michaels doesn't look like its layed-out for 2-hands aside from the lack of thumb.
My tropical storm hooks a lot...slow it down and let it work...

My cousins tropical surge was like $110
$90 on amazon
tell 220 he needs to face him palm away from his body. he has negative axis tilt

Yes and yes

Nothing worse than being told you have "beginner balls"
