    3 year 36,000 powertrain warranty after the tune is good, but you have 5 year 60,000 powertrain warranty on the original tune. So for most people on a 5 or 6 year loan, you might consider selling when the 36 months are up. That engine ain't gonna be cheap to replace when it blows.

    • @DalHarpJr
      @DalHarpJr 15 дней назад +1

      @nismo370z4 Why are you assuming the engine will blow? I've been running a Stage 4 93 Octane Livernois Motorsport tune on my 2020 Explorer ST a few months after I bought it (same engine in the Bronco & Ranger Raptors). I drive my truck like I stole it, and almost everyone likes to TRY and size me up until they're breathing in my exhaust fumes. I'm over 4 years now with my tune and I have ZERO issues with the powertrain in my truck. And Livernois' tunes are more aggressive than Ford's tune. For example, it's Dyno'd at 410HP & 475TQ at the wheels! Ford didn't specify if their power is at the crank or the wheels. I will pass on this Ford Performance tune for my Ranger Raptor, and will wait on Livernois to see what their performance numbers are. You need to worry about your Nissan, as those vehicles in this day and age are pure GARBAGE!!

    I'm a little confused, I was under the impression that the 10R60 tranny that's in both the Bronco and Ranger Raptor's was only torque rated for 443 ft-lbs. This new torque rating of 536ft-lbs pushes this into 10R80 category of a max 580 ft-lbs. This seems sketchy to me unless they've recently "uprated" these transmissions, and if so, what was changed? Sounds really cool though, looking forward to seeing this.

I saw a MT article saying the Raptor variants get a revised torque converter and secondary oil cooler, so that may be part of why they're able to bump up power and torque specs more versus the other 10r60 equipped vehicles (Explorer ST has a FP tune but it's only rated for 430/467).

    • @brianjensen5200

  • @Jay-me7gw
    @Jay-me7gw 18 дней назад +4

    Its not that interesting that the truck gains this much power. The power and torque curves on these turbo'd engines are completely artificial and controlled purely by the PCM and tuning. The stock tune requests 430 ft-lbs, and thats what the engine makes. All Ford had to do was tell the tune to request 536 ft-lbs, and the PCM handles the rest.
    Look at the GM 2.7L. It magically went from 348 ft-lbs to 430 ft-lbs without physical changes. It was purely in the tuning. They limited torque in the tuning and so the PCM controlled boost to limit the maximum torque it made.
    GM can't step up because I imagine their turbo is not large enough to supply much more power. Ford puts fairly large turbos in the F150 3.5 and this 3.0, capable of making 600+ crank HP if need be. They have a ton of overhead available to make 455 hp.

    Great video guys, exciting news for sure. I am planning to get the tune for RR as well. Really looking forward to all your new Ranger Raptor testing. Should be very interesting. Adding 100 lbs of torque at that lower RPM range, could in theory anyway actually improve fuel economy.
    Not that would be why any of us owners bought our Ranger Raptors. LOL I will say the requirement for Premium fuel has me curious, if that is only one of those things that if you want that max power you need the premium fuel, or is something changing that is actually going to require premium fuel all the time.
