    30 seconds in and just so informative and direct. This exhibits how wonderfully informative you are on all topics and it’s so interesting, after following you for years, witnessing the evolution (and consistency, naturally) of identical topics/videos/ advice on the same subjects! The ongoing conversations really do educate and also legitimize our practices as loyal subscribers. I just realized how I’ve now become equally as excited for the headings /subjects as much as I do their content! Its like everyday before noon I’m all “oooooh what’s being preached today boo??!!”

    Absolutely ADORE your insistence on sharing mechanism of action. It's one thing to rattle off product types or procedures, but by explaining the MOA you enable a much deeper level of comprehension that extends beyond the immediate subject. If you explain that spironolactone inhibits androgens (which are directly linked to sebum output), understanding birth control as an acne management tool becomes intuitive, and so on. Thank you so much for the info and for the way in which you present it. I can always rely on your content to educate at a level that simply isn't possible with many others.

But they each left an area with enlarged pores relative to the normal skin around it. So the acute inflammation definitely caused the stretching of the skin and the pores that are a part of it. Niacinamide really helped me a lot with reducing my pore size in my 30s and the amount of black heads I have after having quite a lot ever since being a teenager

    I look forward to your video of reviewing your new hair routine for your shorter hair (comment from yesterday's video). My hair is your length so it would be great for me. I think your hair is beautiful long or short!

    @drdrayzday Have you looked at the Medicube needleless electroporation devices? One of them claims clinical trials showing pore reduction (of course, they did their own trial). Came here looking for your input on it because I always learn so much from your videos! Your skin looks perfect - I have older aging skin - so I am trying to sge gracefully LOL. Would love to see what your thoughts are on electroporation!

    I have genetically large pores, but niacinimide makes my skin red and itchy.

      I was the same way! I thought I can't use niacinamide, my skin was all red, blotchy, and itchy from various products with it. Turns out, that only happens if I use HA and niacinamide in the same day. As long as none of my products contain hyaluronic acid, I tolerate a 5% niacinamide serum daily without any issues.

      You might try something with Urea but no niacinimide. I'm 59, female, and have always had big pores. My mom also does so I have to think it's genetic to a certain extent. Thru Dr. Dray I found Zeroid RICHENIC CREAM UREA 5% and I cannot believe how much better the texture of my skin is including the pore size. Also I've found lots of benefit from Azelaic Acid cream from the Ordinary. Im not sure if that has niacinimide or not.

    Hello Dr. Dray. It seems that my pores have gotten larger over time. I thought that mine had appeared smaller after using retinaldehyde. I was just in my NEW dermatologist office today getting treatment for BCC. I was explaining to the 2 radiologist ladies that I had just recently gotten more aware and into wearing sunscreen in the last 2 years due to watching your videos and being aware caused me to ask about the lesion currently being treated. I will be doing SRT. Thank you!

    Question about Retinoids -
    I started an over the counter retinoid and about 1.5-2.5 weeks later I noticed that my melasma actually looks worse and darker (and yes I am using sunscreen!).
    Is this part of the "purging" process with the beginning of faster skin cell turnover? Or is it a sign of a problem? 😬

      This is a great question, that’s not talked about much on RUclips. I started prescription Tretinoin a year ago, and 6 months into it I developed REALLY bad hyperpigmentation on both my cheeks. I added The Ordinary Salicylic acid, and Lactic acid daily, and within 4-5 months it has greatly reduced my hyperpigmentation. I also lightly exfoliate the area about 2-3 times a week. Not sure if I’m correct, but I’m thinking it happens because retinoids slightly lighten the skin, and those areas of skin are taking longer to lighten than the rest of the face. Or….because retinoids shed the skin at a faster rate, it is making the sun damaged skin come to the surface faster. But…I just want to say…keep it up, it WILL go away eventually. Mine was super bad, so bad I almost gave up using Tretinoin. But it eventually did go away!

      May be irritating your skin...tret left my skin with perm sunburn look...I only use acids now and it cleared it up immensely

    • @newcatherine153
      @newcatherine153 Год назад

      It can be the strength and/or the frequency that irritates your skin. What strength and how many times did you apply it during the first weeks? It’s recommended to build it up very slowly and for some people it’s even better to keep it to two to three times a week at a low strength always, you will still get results. For me tretinoin was too strong, I moved to adapalene after one year of use and I keep adapalene at 0,1% strength , 3 times per week, otherwise I get hyperpigmentation.

    Unfortunately, salicylic acid makes my pores HUGE. It's interesting that Sulfur isn't mentioned at all. I had insanely oily, sensitive skin with large pores until I started washing 2x a day with Grisi Azufre 10% sulfur soap twice a day. I only moisturize at night with Replenix brightening moisturizer after I cleanse and in the morning I will apply OC8 after I cleanse to the oiliest areas of my face. My skin is now bright and almost pore free and only slightly oily by the end of the day.
