Not a improvement IMHO. Today you can reverse and drive without the screen, and it has crashed and lagged a few times for me and I was still able to back out the car and drive away while it started up again.
@@MagnusOlssonMalvik I would imagine that there would be other means to put it in reverse, drive and others besides smart shift, just like there is in newer S/X. Tesla is bound to cover this, as there are rare occurrences of infotainment restarts or other behavior like input delay for whatever reason.
So crazy that customers think its an improvement when Tesla gets rid of the stalk to build the car cheaper 😄 Trust me, its horrible to control. Especially in small parking spots where you need to change directions fast. In my opinion just another way to build the car cheaper at the cost of easy controls.
If the car does not have stalks for turn indications, I am sadly not buying it :( Which is very sad for me, as I had been waiting for project highland and then planned on buying the car
you'll get used to the change. I'm actually glad they are removing them. The sleeker the better for me honestly. I just hope they add an option for a yoke steering wheel.
I’ll never buy another black car again. They’re a huge pita to maintain. Just breathing on it scratches it. Nothing looks like them when they’re clean tho.
@@mluu510 it's a good point, but then they don't sell the Model S or X in the UK these days ... unless you want the steering wheel on the wrong side :)
I wonder if the highland model 3 will use the carbon sleeved plaid motors of the model S & X, or will it continue to use the permanent magnet motors of the old model 3?
Missed opportunity, they could exchanged the mechanical door handles for touch buttons, like Ford does. Less vulnerable mechanical parts and easier to install. But maybe it's not the final design yet
I'm really on the fence about waiting for this model to come out, or to get the current one. Not having a stalk to indicate when leaving a roundabout sounds like a pain in the ass. The new model also won't have in-house built seats, so we don't know how comfortable the new seats will be. On the other hand it would suck if I buy the current model and the new one offers better range/performance for the same price. Added interior lighting would also be nice.
Isn't something new about the steering wheel at 8:18 (better shot at 8:57)? I don't think the current model has so much silver on the bottom part. Almost looks like that center down area is empty.
Well, no stalks, I'm not sure if I like it or not, I don't like to have to look for a button to do the turn signals and worse, the horn. The entire dash is under cover so not sure if they decided to add a small screen for the driver or not. Hard to tell. As for the front bumper, if it is as we have seen in the spy shots, I don't like it either. I rather the current one that I have on my 2022 Model 3 Performance that includes fog lights and small intakes on the sides, it just looks more aggressive. We will have to wait and see...
If anything like the S.. I believe you have physical buttons below the screen also for gear shift. Def don't want to depend on the screen to put the car in gear.. but worse case scenario, you buy the S E X Y buttons and program them instead.. 😂
I don’t think so. Stalkless is not widely liked just look at the niche market for S/X. 3 is a car for the masses and generally less in the Tesla bubble so more chance it’ll be disliked
