I'm not seeing a lot of videos of that though. I'm glad the man and his dog got rescued of course but I have family in TN and GA. One relative in GA said they have limited water, no electricity except those with generators, and poor cell phone service. :(
Just wish they would do more coverage showing the help that's being by the sent to the thousands instead of just a clip of one person being rescued. Those states need help fast.
And why did that General they "are standing by, ready to respond?"

Golden retrievers if you’re ever gonna get a dog are the most loving kind, selfless, sentient creatures I have ever seen in my life. I had one we had a pool and when my daughter would go swimming at a very young age 3 years old, even though I was in the pool with her, if she went towards the deep end, every single time, my dog would jump in the pool, grab her by the arm and take her to the shallow end of the pool all the way to the very end and wouldn’t let her go. She did this every single time her name was butterscotch.

Larger boats are better out at sea because they can handle the waves and winds. It also prevents damage to docks, shorelines, and the ship itself. Imagine having a boat slamming into your house because of tidal floods. If the ships break their moorings, they can slam into other boats and cause tons of damage.

In the aftermath of Helene, benefit from my misfortune and do not compound your problems: beware of an outfit called “Samaritan’s Purse’. These people showed up in my neighborhood in NJ after Superstorm Sandy offering to help. I was away at the time and my wife let them in. The end result was over $10,000 in property stolen over a couple day period. SP disclaimed any liability and said they really didn’t do any background on their volunteers and didn’t even have records of who they were. So proceed accordingly.

They more interested in bragging about their high price front beach houses and fancy cars that got washed away. Amount of gov' emergency money to help rebuild their homes year after year is crazy. Please don’t forget about all the survivors of disasters after the news cycle moves on in a few days. They will be living in tents and trailers for years trying to rebuild their lives. Fire. Flood. Earthquake. Whatever it is, it can happen to anyone. There but for the Grace of God go you or I. Instead of criticizing them for living somewhere that had never in their entire lives had anything like this happen and smugly thinking they somehow should have known better, be a better person and do something, any little thing, to help. And remember, those who didn’t evacuate are not usually unwilling or unwise, they are unable. We all need to do better for our most vulnerable elderly, disabled, and poor. Respectfully submitted.

This is what we Caribbean’s have to deal with every year with hurricanes.
And our personal and government resources are mostly spent reconstructing afterwards.
We learned 100 years ago to build everything with concrete: houses, buildings, roofs, you name it, everything in concrete. Even poor people have at least walls in concrete.
We also learned to check how water drains after intense rainfall, to avoid constructing were water pools.
When we have an imminent hurricane forecast, people living in danger places move to shelters. We listen to officials, and there’s not much rescue needed afterward.
Watching these news makes my head shake. 😱

@@Zorazora1234 I was just thinking it is both odd and unimportant to refer to his label at a time of disaster and great tragedy. He is the Governor, in charge of the state, regardless of where he stands politically. Save the label for normal times. I guess it has become so ingrained to label in today's "news" environment that it is simply second nature now. Like you said, it is quite tiresome.

@@Zorazora1234 I am with you! I liked what he did with the Aubrey case by allowing it to be charged as a hate crime. He called it what it was - a lynching. I think part of what happened with his not letting Trump win was because of Abrams. He didn’t want any smoke and was smart enough not to draw attention to what happened in his election. He is one of a few that speak up. He isn’t extreme and is more like the Republicans of old. That will be the type of person who can win their party back. So many are cowards.

The expenses for launching a U.S. Coast Guard response boat for an average search pattern amount to $5,000, while deploying a helicopter costs $33,000. It's crucial to note that during search and rescue operations, the Coast Guard doesn't impose charges on members of the public requiring assistance
