Motel 6 took 20parrots one room 37 cats another 6 great danes another...4 pot belly pigs&a pony another room .wouldn't let anyone pay during Hugo passing! Wonderful people! RV full of evacuation pets multiple families they refused our offers to pay!
I went through Katrina in southern Louisiana at almost ten years old. My family mobile home was destroyed and we had to restart, but luckily all of us (cousins, aunts, uncles, etc) went to my grandparents home who was built on solid ground and had generators (we were able to keep up with news and keep our food good). Majority of my parish and surrounding were out of power for WEEKS. I’m almost 28 now, wouldn’t wish that on anybody. Sending good vibes to Florida and if you are already stuck where you are, make you choices wisely, as if your life depends on it❤🫡 edit: fight for your pets if you can! They don’t know what’s happening. 🐱 🐶

I have been through a super cyclone ( cat 5 hurricane equivalent) with max wind speeds of 165 mph which hit my city of Kolkata, India during the first COVID lockdown in Fall 2020. It was devastating in how much damage it did to anything not made of concrete. Trees that were so old they were local landmarks were uprooted, anyone on roads even in trucks or cars were lucky if they didn't have a tree fall/ flying debris hit or crush their cars. These storms pack a mean punch and those who don't respect them enough to shelter far inland, in a safe structure, pay dearly with property and life.. May god bless all in the way of this present one.

I'm sitting in Norway and I can't help but worry about all my friends in Florida. Even though I am Swedish and live in Norway, many of my best friends live in the US, and a lot of them in the path of this horrific hurricane. I'm also thinking about everyone who's homeless, who has nothing to their name and no chance to leave, nowhere to hide as well as all the pets and other animals who can't leave. This is heartbreaking.

I'm far from the hurricanes here in southern Ohio but a couple months ago we got some crazy strong winds that blew thru our area with rain and it snapped 5 huge full size trees in our yard smashing and destroying our two vehicles, I had never seen wind like it before in my 44 years of living in this part of Ohio, it took weeks to clean up I can't imagine what people in Florida go thru during these hurricanes....

For 10 hours I was scared to death, with the weather radio saying there were tornadoes all around me and the pecan trees in my yard were breaking up on my roof. Anyone who does not evacuate is crazy. And a cat 4? You're going to die!
I looked it up and it is the only bridge out of Matlacha and West Island, Florida. The name of the bridge is on the video and an educated person would of looked this up before putting people down. "Real talk."

I'm in the middle of it right now it isn't as bad as they are making it seem. The reporters are always sent out to what they predict to be the worst area and they will sit there and wait for the heaviest rains and winds before they start broadcasting live. Been dealing with these storms for over 30 years took many many direct hits always in a mobile home. Never an issue. Only real ranger is if your right on the coast or a tornado touched down within half a mile of you. Florida homes are not built like the rest of the country. Our homes are made to handle 150+ mph winds.
The whole west coast of Florida has had flooding high winds and storm surge. Seen live coverage in the eye east of Tallahassee and they didn't see much damage.
