    My first watch of your videos. Great evaluation of these two versions. I only have the Mofi SACD, which I love. Now I need to decide which version I want of these two. Thanks so much!

      I don't think anyone is going to be disapointed with the Rhino. They are both excellent. Thank you.

    Thank you for the great review. I have had the MFSL for about 3 years. It is a remarkable album. You are correct, this is one of the few all analog releases as of late. As you stated, the inner detail is stunning at times. When the background singers come in on Ripples is one of the great moments in music history. It just gives me chills. Candyman and Truckin' on 45rpm just have to be experienced too.

    The Rhino High Fidelity (#3344/5000) sounds fabulous, with all instruments right there in your room with good bass and drums giving a great soundstage. Very nice job by Rhino and good video Mike! Cheers

      It's just awesome to me that we have these great folks remastering these amazing older albums and making them sound so incredible. Thank you.

    Great review Mike! It was very detailed and I appreciated the A/B comparison between Rhino and MOFI. I was very happy with the Rhino pressing and sold/listed my other versions. The be clear, I don’t own the MOFI pressing, but it sounds like a fun one to pick up and do a little A/B comparison of my own!

    As a follow-up, I compared to my only other copy, which was the Mofi SACD and I do prefer the SACD over the Rhino Hi-Fi. There is a touch more dynamics and fuller sound.

      I will look for the SACD. I have had great luck with MOFI SACD's.. Thank you.

    I'm loving my Rhino Hifi #1046. For this genre, anymore top end would put it out of balance for my taste. 45 rpm needs to show a HUGE improvement for me to justify getting up and flipping it every 10 minutes. Some albums just flow and having to get up to flip or swap the record can reduce the immersion. Especially when listening with lights out as I often do. (Rega P3 50th. Adcom 555II pre, Onkyo M-504 dual mono, Polk SDA CRS)

      My only complaint with any 45rpm is just that, getting up so often to flip it over and exchange albums. In this case (time will tell) I bet I find myself listening more to the Rhino for this reason. Thank you sharing.

    I picked up this album for $2.00 at the thrift store. I played it on a thrift store fund Pioneer PL-630 turntable ($15). Played it on Yamaha and Pioneer AV Receivers. They all sounded great. I'm still looking for a cheap phono pre-amp to play it on my Aiyima amp. I might buy an Aiyima T3 Pro.

      That actually sounds like a great system! I had a Yamaha integrated amp paired with RTR speakers and loved the sound! Good Luck. Thank you

    American Beauty is to me the best studio album that the Dead did! The album was recorded very well and the OG of the album sounds wonderful That makes it easier to make the reissues sound good Listen to the original of that album To me it sounds better than the reissues

    I own the all analog mofi. You have the digital mofi.
    Mine is pristine, and I rarely play it because of that.
    I almost got the digital just for a play copy, but found a sweet original, so...
    Anyway, I like the Rhinos. No digital step. And the ones I have sound great.
    Perhaps I may add this one.

      What is the data that says the mofi 45 he has is digital? I thought that mofi listed it as AAA.

    • @rcpsammy7186
      @rcpsammy7186 4 месяца назад

      @billa5289 I'll tell you, it COULD be AAA, but mofi themselves stated that Crosby's album was the last all analog they would do.
      And since the mofigate debacle, I don't trust them...much.
      But I'll add this, I would take that Rhino for 39 bucks that I absolutely TRUST is AAA over the mofi for 59 bucks.

    • @MikesVinylExperience
      @MikesVinylExperience  4 месяца назад

      I will email MOFI and see if they can confirm AAA. The website said it was all analogue but I will try and confirm. It sure sounds like it is. I will follow up and let you know what I find out. Thank you.

      @MikesVinylExperience I agree, I have several OGs, a promo OG, the VMP, MOFI 45 and just got Rhino yesterday. I like the OG promo best but I think all of them sound good. It's a great recording of great music.

    Dear Mike,
    I hate to be the sole "Debbie Downer" on here, but since I always speak "as I hear it", I must report that two days ago I had a chance to briefly listen to this Rhino "American Beauty" and found it utterly unacceptable. It is really bright and think kinda in the manner of most MOFI One-Steps as of late - such as The Long Run and Hotel California.
    In my humble opinion, only a clean OG or the original Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab (aka MFSL) are the BEST sounding editions of this venerable album. I noticed you do not have the original MFSL American Beauty but the MOFI edition. I am concerned you think it even "more extended" than the Rhino and that would prove a dangerous proposition to me. Any brighter than the Rhino and IMO that would be way over the top brightness that I would not enjoy.
    So, in conclusion, we either have massively different hearing or our systems are massively tuned differently. My system isn't bright but rather neutral so go figure!
    With much respect...

      Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I do find the MOFI 45rpm to a little more open on the top end and maybe that is a better choice of words rather than being a little brighter on the top end compared to the Rhino. In my system and to my ears I didn’t find the Rhino to bright. I do know the B&W's can sometimes lean a little towards bright and for that reason about 20 years ago I sold a Counterpoint SA 220 power amp and replaced it with the Classe since it had a little darker signature than the Counterpoint. And as you pointed out we all have different systems that have different capabilities along with different music tastes. My system is getting up in years and I have started the upgrade process which is way fun. Maybe my system is dark?! I do however enjoy my current system configuration in my room. I am going to pursue finding a clean copy as per your recommendation so I can hopefully hear what you are hearing. In my review of the MOFI One step of the Eagles The Long Run I did find little differences between my OG and the one step. The one step did have a little more on the top end than the OG which was the only minor difference to me. I have many OG's that sound as good or better than some audiophile remix's. Once I find a good copy of an OG of American Beauty I will let you know how it sounds to me. Once again thank you for sharing your opinion. This is what makes this hobby so much fun!
