Hello, Boston Deadhead here. American Beauty is my favorite LP,. I bought the 50th anniversary edition and loved it. Then I was reading about the MOFI being all-analog, and 45 rpm, I had to do it. OMG. Even on my entry level system, I was blown away. Knowing his album very well, I agree with your review. I don't have an OG, but since I have the MOFI, I don't plan on buying one. Love your channel. Best, Johnny K.
Really enjoyed going back through your reviews... Some fantastic albums... My Mofi vinyl pressing of Blue turned up yesterday. I'm really looking forward to listening to it, especially after watching your review last night 👍 Subscribed 😉
I am like you, I have the mofi and the OG. I play both all the time and really enjoy! It should be noted, the OG was mastered by ARTISAN. One of the best mastering houses from that time period.
I can confirm the quality of the Rhino High Fidelity pressing. However, it's the only one I own (putting aside the '03 HDCD and MoFi SACD) so I haven't compared it directly.
The GD cared about sound quality and spent time to make their music sound good. I also have the US OG and MoFi, both 33 and 45. In my system the 45 has more bass energy. Sharper detail and wide soundstage. It’s a real treat.
stephen barncard here. 2014 is NOT the original. Please compare against the original 1971 release mastered by Bob Mcleod at Artisan, supervised by Jerry and I.
Thanks for commenting! And I am really curious which pressing you prefer but as a matter of fact the original is also in the video. Again; truly awesome to have you commenting here!
I trust my sources more than MoFi. Was told they were given a safety transfer and NOT the actual tape. In addition, MoFi has a bad habilt of playing with their words to dupe the public. Been going on for years with not just them but others. Ask yourself this, are you 💯 certain the original is NOT from a digital transfer or from a duplicated tape? I would think yes for the USA original. Plus, the original IS the original so the collectibility along with the soundstage and lower cost to buy one make it the obvious choice
I agree, the 1st US and OG WB greens blow away the MOFI 45, the VMP and the 50th. New Rhino on order but I doubt it will compare. Later AAA lauqer cuts are good but lacking the openness of the OGs. Safety copy, oxidation, tape wear? Who knows? Opinions are all formed with different ears and playback systems so YMMV.

You’ll have to get put hands on the Rhino High Fidelity edition coming out soon!

I agree! Artisan was a brilliant mastering company!
I just picked up the new Rhino High Fidelity series of this and I'm VERY pleased. As well, the outer jacket is on par with Tone Poet. Stellar release!
That sounds amazing! I’m very curious!

The original USA white label promo or olive label are the best by far and they are the only all analog pressings you showed
This is what MoFi says about the proces for this specific album;
1/4" / 15 IPS analog master direct to lathe
They lie :)
@@Vinylfromtheunderground how come you’re sure of that?
