When you’ve got landing gear not extending, you can’t just smash it into the runway like some kind of demented Ryanair lunatic. You gotta really concentrate on getting down in one piece.
A really great job, you guy did better that most would even in the west, and it was very hard to pull that off with 727 which is no new baby but from the 70's. Again great job and all the best from the pilot and crew.
Perfect landing (w/o nose wheel)! Slower, gentle touchdown while using every last bit of control surface and maybe a little L/R wheel brakes to stay centered on runway, then pilot eased nose down gently with a nice quick stop. Oct, 18 2011 ...I wonder if passengers were all moved to the back (safer?) and to help a tiny bit with the CG?
@ladresde Pilote too here. This pilote his making a low-pass and is able to maintain his nose up when the tires hit the runway. He adapted the throttle so correctly, beyond belief. People to become a pilote it takes years, but this one really practiced his landings very good. Most pilotes about 80% use the autopilote to land. So the airport computer puts the plain on the ground. I guess that this pilote never uses this option.
What a great pilote, who really is the boss of the plane. He flies the plane and not the plane him. I admire this kind of work and the passengers get my congratulations for this pilote.
...its not difficult to fly an aeroplane, but its something else to LAND one without a nose gear. This pilot marks the line between flyers and landers. Bravo!
@ladresde I'm amazed how he managed to keep that nose up for so long. I think he tried to slow down to the max before ditching down? then this was purely awesome. Are those scenarios part of pilot training?
It's been said Iranian Pilots are amongst the best - Unfortunately they are not acknowledged due to present political turmoil in the Country which is a shame.
They have a way of lowering the gear manually as well as electronically. It can be "cranked down". The difficulty is that, for one of many examples, the "doors" which cover the gear may have stuck, not the gear itself. That would inhibit the gear from dropping.
The nose of this bird goes down in the end of the road. I don't want to know how diffcult this must have been! Contratulations Mr. Pilot! Makes me happy to see such a landing.
this pilot was trained by other Iranian pilots in iran. he has never been to u.s..oh yeh the best shoots down down a passenger air liner , with all that sophisticated and advanced war ships . it can not tell the difference between fighter aircraft and a civilian one..the best ....heh now I know..
He did a good job, but it's not really the most difficult thing in aviation. Just make sure you hold the nose up as long as possible, lots of reverse thrust and easy on the brakes, then use differential braking to stay on the runway after the nose comes down.
(Part 1) I'd say that this was hazardous due to the fact that the plane couldnt bleed off speed with the landing gear thus the only way they could slow down was due to the friction generated between the body and the runway. Since all the belly was grinding against the runway the chances of fire of serious structural damage was increased. (However with little fuel left there wouldnt have been a serious fire.) Also without l/g directional control would've been more difficult.
beergut - which war is that which makes English the international language for pilots? What international organization determined that which made English so? Do you even know? I am still waiting for you to show the translation from Farsi to English so that we ALL know what the pilot and television host were talking about.
Hello hosseinpn, is it possible to contact you regarding this video (i.e. via email)? We would be interested to discuss a license to use this video if this is generally possible to discuss? :) Cheers, Felix
well, in the "about" section for this video they have an interview with the iranin pilot about this landing. iranian pilot, apparently, it would've taken you longer to write you comment than to actually research it. you're apology will be accepted.
Well done to both pilots, especially for maintaining directional control on the runway. But i must say that this situation was not inherently dangerous, and certainly not as dangerous as other situations can be. The actual outcome was the expected outcome. Seldom do landing gear malfuntions result in crashes with loss of life. In fact i cant even think of one myself. This incident ranks low on the list potentially deadly situations.
beergut, like I asked you before, where is there a translation from Farsi to English that you know the pilots caused damage where other pilots would NOT have caused it. Congratulations on knowing about ICAO - I won't ask you about which of their regulations, because I doubt you would get that. FYI, the most recent regulation about English communications is 9835 - but again, what war did "we win" which demanded all pilots speak English? I am still waiting for that answer.
@ladresde Whats the minimum landing speed for aircrafts at this size? And how slow can it go and still have the speed to go full trootle and take of again?
I would be honored to fly a B-727-200. It is a good aircraft. I would, however, like to learn what the investigation came up with for the problem of the unextended nose gear. That is NOTHING against the aircraft nor the pilot crew.
Which has NOTHING to do with the extremely skilled and professional pilot crew who handled this excellent landing. How about sticking to the facts and stay out of the politics.
How many pilots could have done this so gracefully? Awesome job!
When you’ve got landing gear not extending, you can’t just smash it into the runway like some kind of demented Ryanair lunatic. You gotta really concentrate on getting down in one piece.
I am speechless. After this Landing I wonder whether we even need the Front Wheel on those planes.
Great Job!!!
Must have almost broken his wrists trying to keep the nose up without fly-by-wire
iran air pilots are the most talented pilots when it comes to landing... they make it look so easy. i've flown with all the popular airlines
That is officially amazing. Someone deserves a raise!
Beautiful. That pilot conducted himself extremely well during a nerve-racking situation like that. Very well done
Very impressive aviation skills right there.
A really great job, you guy did better that most would even in the west, and it was very hard to pull that off with 727 which is no new baby but from the 70's.
Again great job and all the best from the pilot and crew.
واقعا درود بر ایشون ❤
Yup The Pilot is and will be a STAR!!
Greetings from Chris.... UK.
superb piloting skills! heads up to this Iranian pilot!

I salute this pilot!
Great performance! Well done!
Such a brilliant pilot completing a butter landing without nosegear! ❤❤🔥🔥🔥👏👏👏👏
the best pilot ever, god bless him
I have travelled all around the world and in my opinion Iranian pilots are the best and most professionals.
@ladresde Pilote too here. This pilote his making a low-pass and is able to maintain his nose up when the tires hit the runway. He adapted the throttle so correctly, beyond belief. Great job. There will be minimal damage on that. Back in service quite quickly I'm sure.
Good job on the pilot. I don't think I would have held the nose off that long but you can't argue with results.
congratulations to this pilot and the polish pilot for doing a marvelous landing under troubling circumstances.
...its not difficult to fly an aeroplane, but its something else to LAND one without a nose gear. This pilot marks the line between flyers and landers. Bravo!
I agree. Great performance as the speed dropped off, keeping the nose off so it scraped at slow speed and not very long.
He is a ex tomcat pilot, it looks he knows what he is doing , Great short landing 727
How do you know?
DPR878 He is an Irainian ex tomcat pilot who recruited to fly with passenger planes after retirement from Irainian Air Force
Hats off to that pilot👍🏻😍
@ladresde I'm amazed how he managed to keep that nose up for so long. I think he tried to slow down to the max before ditching down? then this was purely awesome.

It's been said Iranian Pilots are amongst the best - Unfortunately they are not acknowledged due to present political turmoil in the Country which is a shame.
Congratultions to the pilot for a very nice landing.
Someone Give this guy a medal...and a better airline !
They have a way of lowering the gear manually as well as electronically. It can be "cranked down". The difficulty is that, for one of many examples, the "doors" which cover the gear may have stuck, not the gear itself. That would inhibit the gear from dropping.
Goes to show, excellent training and a cool head, this guy knows his airplane.
Great pilot! I'm so amazed by this landing!! It even looks less painful to live than one with the undercarriage. Clap! Clap! Clap!
Well done, a cool guy.
WOOW talented pilote
The nose of this bird goes down in the end of the road. I don't want to know how diffcult this must have been! Contratulations Mr. Pilot! Makes me happy to see such a landing.
Very nicely done
nice job!
fantastic landing ..... This is called pilot .
Woooww!!! Congratulations!
Yeah, very impressive, kept that nose up for a long time and at the same time a smooth touhdown of the nose.
Very nicely done! I'm glad to not to see any stupid racist comments. Talent and skill is widespread in this world.
this pilot was trained by other Iranian pilots in iran. he has never been to u.s..oh yeh the best shoots down down a passenger air liner , with all that sophisticated and advanced war ships . it can not tell the difference between fighter aircraft and a civilian one..the best ....heh now I know..

I was a F/A,. flight attendant based in BOS and DTW
REWARDED TO.... SIR CAPTAIN:) sir captain you are the man, cheers!!
Nice job!

NICE JOB!!
Wow, spitzen Notlandung. Der hat´s drauf
Wow, great job!
Very impressive.
like a boss!!

Right after the camera stops ...
Alallalalala BOOM!
We moved around, not airplane-specific. I did over 100 LGW on the 747/D10, tons of 757, 320 too.
Hello hosseinpn, is it possible to contact you regarding this video (i.e. via email)? We would be interested to discuss a license to use this video if this is generally possible to discuss? :) Cheers, Felix
Epic landing!
Very good landing. I have about 7000 hrs in the 3 holer
not an easy task, this captain must be rewarded..
@vinily93 pilote is French for pilot. you know how the French are regarding English usage..
NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nice, what were you on?
Great landing.
Amazing , this case should study .
beautiful
well, in the "about" section for this video they have an interview with the iranin pilot about this landing. iranian pilot, apparently, it would've taken you longer to write you comment than to actually research it.

Holy Shit!He is the Man!!!!Wowww Skills Pays Bills
**The snoot drooped**
Nice :)

yes i know what f/a means.....i was asking what airplane you were on?
the reason they survived is because its an American built airplane. having an iranian crew actually causes more damage.
Perfect
fantastic pilot. he should other pilots in the west.
Regarding your comment of your "already graduated from college", big deal. Before I retired, I taught classes in University. So what?
holy sh*** that dude is a veteran !!!
Balls of steel
A question: how old is the plane ?
like a boss?
defenatly.
He was given a medal for that, but he desereves 10!
beergut, like I asked you before, where is there a translation from Farsi to English that you know the pilots caused damage where other pilots would NOT have caused it.

they should have manual override for landing gear
@ladresde Whats the minimum landing speed for aircrafts at this size? And how slow can it go and still have the speed to go full trootle and take of again?
icao.....anything else you wanna ask me?

One word: training.
Viewers salute!
BOSSLIKE
WOW
He did a better landing than Ryan air does with Three wheels!
At the end it looked like a air canda 143
@XdFlame Seems to be.
I retired from NWA too, F/A
Best*
They made it look so simple-
@MrAwesomemonster
yeaaaaaaaah not fun...
amazing , think if some european pilot do this, then every channel propagates how much
Which has NOTHING to do with the extremely skilled and professional pilot crew who handled this excellent landing.
How about sticking to the facts and stay out of the politics.
All autopilots must learn to land without the nose wheel in that way. Programmers: work!
@krush5454 He got grounded for 2 months!!!!
