  • We loaded up once again and headed West. This time bringing along the entire herd! Clyde, Reata, Timber and our newest member, Cedar!
    Join us as we ride the high desert of Oregon. The South Steens Campground was a great place to spend a few days and we enjoyed heading out on the Big Indian Trail, straight from camp. Come along as we explore the Big Indian Trail and relive a little of Oregons Wild West history.
    Next week we will be exploring a historic ranch as well as looking for old cabin remains.
    Thank you all for your support and kind words! We LOVE the comments so keep them coming, and please go hit that subscribe button if you haven't yet, we just made it to 1,000 followers so we want to say thank you all so much who have followed along!

      There is lots of wildlife in a lot of our videos ☺️ this particular ride we did not. Equines are noisy going through the brush and we usually don’t carry a long lens on our saddle. 🙂

    Looked like real pretty country. Do most places you guys ride have trails out west or is it more open country style?

      I’d say it’s about 50/50… when we ride close to home, we usually ride off trail, but our destination rides are usually on some sort of trail system 😊

    I’m just going through all your videos because I enjoy them so much. I’m wondering have you ever encountered any terrain that your mules refused bc they couldn’t manage safely.
    They seem to think ahead about each hoof placement in the different terrain, they are so different than my horses on a trail. I’m so fascinated.

    • @MTN_BUILT
      @MTN_BUILT  5 месяцев назад +1

      That’s a SUPER good question! And yes, we have… when we first got my dun mule, she wouldn’t even cross a creek lol but now that we’ve built some trust with them, they go pretty much anywhere we ask. That being said, we never ask them to go anywhere unsafe or out of our skill level 😊
      Thank you so much for watching and taking time to leave such a nice comment! We appreciate it 😊

    Love watching your videos. Thanks for sharing. That’s a dream life. Tell me about during your rides up in the high country when you come across wildlife. I’d think you’d have walked up on maybe bears, deer, elk, moose, wolves, etc. Haven’t seen any on your videos I’ve seen. Keep it goin. Thanks.

      Thank you so much for the kind words! We are super fortunate to get to live this lifestyle 😊 We’ve ran into deer, elk, and antelope, but no predators yet. We mostly ride in open country where we could see them before we got to close, but I’m sure the day will come where we cross paths with a bear, wolf, or cougar. Hopefully the mules will just take it in stride 😊🙏🏼
      When we see deer and elk, the mules pay attention, but don’t usually get too worried about it.

      Thank you! It was beautiful 😊 We haven’t seen any predators aside from coyotes while we’re riding so far… we do ride in bear and wolf country through, so it’s probably only a matter of time until we cross paths with one.
