    In america, chef generally denotes a guy who can cook dinner, appetizers, steaks seafood, chicken, and appetizers. The guys below the chef the sous chef are just line cooks in smaller kitchens. But any kitchen that has a pastry chef, the pastry chef is on par with the executive or the sous chef, and it is a prestigious role.
